In 2023, Wendy’s aimed to get customers into the Halloween spirit by launching “HalloWEENDY’s Weekend,” a multi-day promotion offering free and discounted food items. According to a press release, the festivities would kick off on Friday, October 27th with a “BO(O)GO” deal, where customers could buy one premium sandwich like a Baconator or Asiago Ranch Chicken Club and get a second one for free.

On Saturday, October 28th, Wendy’s shifted their promotion to offer anyone who made a purchase through the Wendy’s mobile app a free Crispy Chicken Sandwich. As described in the press release, “the deals don’t stop there.” Sunday October 29th featured another “frighteningly good” deal – BOGO offers on breakfast sandwiches like the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit or Breakfast Baconator.
In addition to the weekend long deals, Wendy’s also offered free food items earlier in the week leading up to Halloween. On October 30th, customers received a free four-piece order of chicken nuggets with any purchase made through the app. Finally, continuing their “Nug-O-Ween” promotion from previous years, Wendy’s capped off their Halloween celebration by giving away ten pieces of nuggets completely free to app users on October 31st.
The “HalloWEENDY’s Weekend” promotion provided customers multiple opportunities to save money and enjoy scary good food deals. It was an effective marketing strategy that drove traffic to Wendy’s while putting customers in a festive, Halloween spending mindset.
