A Wreck

A Wreck doesn’t sound like a great sandwich, but this is one of Potbelly’s most popular sandwiches with an almost cult-like following behind it. The sandwich is an Italian sub roll stuffed with turkey breast, hickory-smoked ham, Angus roast beef, salami, and swiss cheese! Potbelly toasts the sandwich, so the cheese melted all over the meat, and the bread becomes perfectly crunchy. I highly recommend adding some spicy pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce to this sandwich to bring an element of freshness to this meaty monstrosity. If you’re starving, there’s no way you’ll have any room left in your belly after conquering this massive sandwich.

Mediterranean Sandwich

The Mediterranean sandwich at Potbelly is surprisingly amazing. I expected it to be rather bland and vegetable-heavy, but it had a robust and rich flavor. The sandwich features grilled chicken, feta cheese, sauteed artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, garlic hummus, and cucumbers. Everything works together so perfectly, making for something light but satisfying at the same time. It can easily be vegetarian if you take out the chicken, so it is an excellent option for everybody. What surprised me the most about the sandwich was how salty it was. It wasn’t too salty, but I expected a more subtle flavor, but the Mediterranean sandwich is quite bold.

Grilled Chicken Club

Want something simple and delicious? Then try Potbelly’s Grilled Chicken Sub. The sandwich comes with all-natural grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, and melted cheddar cheese. A simple but classic combination of flavors that satisfies any sandwich craving. The chicken is perfect, tender, with a sear on the outside. Some sandwich places aren’t great with grilled meat as they focus on deli meats, but Potbelly doesn’t cut corners with their menu items. So you can expect juice, freshly grilled chicken covered in gooey cheese on a toasted bun. If you like a little heat, I recommend adding some pickled jalapenos to the sandwich to kick it up a notch.

Pizza Melt

Potbelly has taken the concept of a meatball sub to a whole new, extraordinary level with their Pizza Melt sandwich. And I would never speak ill of the classic meatball sub, but this sandwich gives it a run for its money. It has pepperoni, old-world salty capicola, crumbled meatballs, marinara sauce, melted provolone, Italian seasoning, and sauteed mushrooms. If you love Italian flavors, this sandwich gives you everything you want. And it can also be made vegetarian! The Pizza Melt is a warm and comforting sandwich with the fresh flavor of marinara combined with the meaty taste of meatballs and capicola, so meat-lovers rejoice!

Turkey Sandwich

If you want something simple with fresh and tasty ingredients, the Turkey Breast Sandwich at Potbelly is a light and yummy choice. All it comes with is freshly sliced turkey breast and cold swiss cheese. They traditionally do not toast this sandwich, but if you ask, they can make it toasty and melt the cheese for you. I tried it as created, with cold deli meat and cheese. I did, however, add some pickles and tomatoes to give some more moisture, and I was over the moon with the result. It tastes incredible on a whole wheat submarine roll as it brings the entire sandwich together to create an earthy but fresh flavor.

BLTA

Okay, guys, this is hands down my favorite sandwich that I tried. All the sandwiches are fabulous, but the Potbelly’s BLTA is heavenly. I’m a big lover of the classic BLT sandwich. People forget that bacon is a delicious meat that can hold its own on a sandwich. But Potbelly improves upon this yummy classic with some freshly sliced avocado. The avocado adds a substantial texture and mass that rounds out the sandwich so it stands up against the thick submarine roll. I know this is rather sacrilegious as a BLT lover, but I did request some swiss cheese on my BLTA and highly recommend this addition! It adds a subtle creaminess and sweetness that marks the sandwich even more perfect.

Powerhouse Salad

If you’re not in the mood for a sandwich, that’s okay because Potbelly has other offerings that are just as delicious and well-executed as their sandwiches. Just like their sandwiches, Potbelly’s salads will never leave you hungry, especially their whopping Powerhouse Salad. This salad features all-natural grilled chicken breast, fresh-sliced avocado, hummus, a hard-boiled egg, cucumber, and tomatoes. It comes on a bed of field greens with non-fat vinaigrette drizzled on top or the side if you’re like me. For me, the hummus really makes the salad because it is zesty and adds a unique texture to the leafy greens.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Potbelly offers one of my favorite kinds of soups: Broccoli Cheddar. The menu item is a creamy, extra cheesy cup of soup with tender pieces of broccoli and carrots for added texture. The soup has a salty but creamy flavor that is warm and comforting, perfect for a chilly fall day or rainy afternoon. They give you crackers to put in the soup, but in my opinion, you don’t need them at all. This delicious soup stands on its own, and my biggest qualm is that Potbelly only offers cups and not massive bowls of this yummy item. If you’re a fan of the broccoli cheddar soup popular at Panera Bread, you’ll be just as happy with the Potbelly version.

Veggie Melt

For the vegetarians and veggie-loving folks out there, Potbelly has you covered with their decadent Veggie Melt. If you were thinking the veggie sandwich is a subtle, light, and refreshing flavor, you are wrong. It has a bold and complex flavor with fresh-sliced avocado, swiss, cheddar, provolone, and sauteed mushrooms. I encourage you to add other vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and whatever else you like on a sandwich. As far as veggie sandwiches go, this is one of the best. It’s gooey with cheddar cheese and has a rich veggie flavor that is comforting and satisfying for anyone.
