In addition to the vast and delicious array of raw oysters, the Kimball House serves a steak dinner with various cuts, like ribeye, New York strip, and filet mignon – the meal is accompanied by potatoes, peppers, broccoli, and crispy onions. Add horseradish butter or au poivre to your steak to personalize your experience and enjoy!
Aria is an electric fine-dining restaurant located in Buckhead. Many celebrities passing through Atlanta have found themselves in the discreetly lit dining room at Aria. Notably, the service is outstanding. In 2017, the James Beard Foundation recommended Aria for its “Outstanding Service” award. Other stand-alone options include a crab fritter, a Maine lobster, and a dry-aged New York Strip steak. Another great thing about this restaurant is that it offers private dining options. For your main course, both the handmade garganelli with smoked chicken and the southern fried chicken parmesan are incredible.

Chef Cody Taylor believes that fresh and simple ingredients create the most delicious dishes. If you are interested in a BBQ sandwich, try the Spicy Korean Pork or the pulled chicken. The meats are also served in a platter-style that includes the customer’s choice of one side dish, like green tomato kimchi, sweet and spicy tofu, or macaroni and cheese. It is a great place to find a comforting meal in Atlanta.

It’s located inside a strip mall, so you might think it’s your run-of-the-mill take-out spot, but it’s much more than that once you get an opportunity to experience the good for yourself. They provide authentic Hunan and Sichuan dishes that don’t disappoint. While carry-out is available, trust me, you want to dine in to get everything hot and fresh, and the service is also speedy. My favorite dishes were the Zhong Style Dumplings, Kung Pao chicken, and Dongpo Pork Belly. They’re also open to making suggestions if you ask.
Che Butter Jonez
Located near the Roseland Cemetery, don’t let that throw you off; Che Butter Jonez is one of Atlanta’s best restaurants. Their menu changes daily, so what you see when you search the internet might be different from what’s actually available. Go, be surprised! The vibes are chill and community-oriented. They offer juicy burgers, tender, flavorful BBQ ribs, and more. This husband and wife team has received numerous awards for being one of the best new restaurants in the area. Che Butter Jonez also serves breakfast. When I visited, I had the Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts and the Lamb Burger with fries. Truly delicious!
The Daily Chew can be described as nothing more than a hidden gem. It’s in the Piedmont Heights neighborhood, one of those places everyone knows about and recommends. They’ve got various cuisine options from Greek to Israeli to traditional American, and so on. The decor has a lot of special touches, and the service is very friendly and inviting. They have a walk-up window for those who want one of their specialty coffees, but I had the pleasure of dining in during my trip to Atlanta. I highly recommend the chickpea crepes, truffle chicken salad sandwich, and their signature vanilla latte.
Focusing on international cuisine, Little Bear is an excellent restaurant for adventurous diners. It is open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. The relaxed vibes and brightly colored bar are a fantastic set-up for a fun evening with delicious foods and drinks. Savory dishes include potato latkes, Georgia shrimp in ginger sauce, and the sweet pepper egg drop soup. Some sweet options include blondies with milk that the bartender can spike with whiskey. The restaurant also offers a four-course prix fixe menu which is requested by asking the waitstaff for “dealer’s choice.”
Poor Hendrix is down the street from the East Lake United Methodist Church, and it’s a casual hangout spot that isn’t too fancy but promises good food, good drinks, and a good time. You can dine inside or choose to eat in the “backyard” on the patio. They have small plates within their gastropub-style establishment. The staff is incredibly fast at serving your food, and I love the variety you get here. The menu constantly changes, so you can find something simple like buffalo wings and grilled cheese or something more exotic like spicy cold noodles with peanut oil or trout skins at any given moment. It’s a 10/10 in my book.
Feedel Bistro sits in a small complex that has a few other restaurants in it, but it has made a name for itself that has the city buzzing. They serve traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean food in a cozy, beautifully decorated interior. I had never tried Habesha food and wasn’t sure what to expect, but they helped me every step of the way. The service here is impeccable. I loved the Beef Sambusa, Tofu Fettuccine, Tiramisù, and the hummus, which was super flavorful. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options also. Think of Feedel as a delicious fusion of food, art, and culture.
Spring Restaurant is located in an Atlanta suburb – Marietta – a bedroom community for metro Atlanta. Chef Brian So and Sommelier Daniel Crawford own and operate the restaurant, so the cuisine and the wine list are cultivated to complement one another. Begin your dinner with a delicious salad. The fig and beet salad is refreshing and sets the tone for the rest of your meal. Try the pan-roasted yellowedge grouper with summer squash, romano bean, cherry tomato, basil, and beurre blanc for the main course. The 2017 Remoissenet Père et Fils, Chardonnay, Bourgogne Blanc, pairs wonderfully with the grouper.
Located in the Summerhill neighborhood, the Talat Market is a trendy and welcoming Thai restaurant that offers locally sourced ingredients, delicious cocktails, and excellent service. The food here is superb. There’s really no other way to describe it. It’s fresh, flavorful, and presented beautifully, and they’re all highly creative. I love the crispy rice salad they recommended, and the pork belly with red curry was my absolute favorite. It was creamy and had a kick of spice, but the pork belly that was caramelized to perfection on top was the real star. I’ll be back for sure.
El Tesoro is the best restaurant Atlanta has that serves authentic Mexican cuisine, along with the experience of being transported to Mexico during your visit! The translation is “the treasure,” I’d say the description is quite fitting. The eatery is enormous, able to seat nearly 200 people, with patio seating available. There’s a fire pit out back, games for kids, and tributes to Mexican culture everywhere. I thoroughly enjoyed the juicy barbacoa tacos, quesadillas, tamales, and Maduro’s con Crema—I mean, Mexican food is my favorite, so there wasn’t anything that I didn’t love on the menu! I highly recommend you visit if you’re in town.
Fox Bros. BBQ
Fox Bros. BBQ is a community staple for great smoked meats with excellent sides and sauces near the Little Five Points neighborhood. The Fox Brothers grew up in Texas and started with no culinary experience, just a desire to bring traditional Texas-style “Q” to Georgia. The menu includes best-sellers like smoked wings and pulled pork but also has some non-traditional offerings. For instance, try the fried pickles or the jalapeno cheddar sausage link with pimento cheese if you’d like an appetizer. Guests can purchase just the meats or order a combo, a sampling of all the various BBQ served at the joint.
Lucian Books and Wine
Lucian Books and Wine is an upscale modern restaurant located a few blocks from Frankie Allen Park. If you have an event to host or a celebration—this a great place, with a warm ambiance, excellent customer service, and exquisite food. The menu reflects an assortment of delicious fare with Italian and French Mediterranean influence. An absolute favorite of mine was the roasted duck with baby carrots, kumquat, and English peas—simply delectable. I also suggest the striped bass with artichoke alongside your choice of delicious wine from their impressive selection.
If you’re ever in the neighborhood near the Georgia Institute of Technology, you’re not too far from enjoying a delightful dining experience. Just a few blocks away, you’ll find Lyla Lila. This trendy and elegant restaurant is constantly whipping up exceptional Italian cuisine, and the eatery has menu items that change daily. So there’s always something new and unexpected. The spacious yet intimate atmosphere perfectly complements the dining experience. On my visit, I had to try the crispy duck lasagna—it didn’t disappoint—it was truly sublime. Others in my party had dishes such as the smoked ricotta ravioli and the red snapper; each dish was as beautiful as it was delicious.
Tassili’s Raw Reality Café
If you’re into raw vegan cuisine or want a break from the ordinary, drop in at Tassili’s Raw Reality Café, just a block from West End Park. It’s a rustic restaurant with casual vibes, ideal for people who want a place to unwind. It’s a calm place to relax and chow down on delicious fresh bites. The food from this place is always in high demand, so don’t be shocked to see a bit of a line. The freshness is unmatched, and all ingredients are locally sourced. My favorite menu item was the Mandingo Wrap, a huge tortilla wrap packed with your choice of spices, tomatoes, avocados, and more. I recommend everything on the menu, though!
Woo Nam Jeong Stone Bowl House
Offering authentic Korean food, the Woo Nam Jeong Stone Bowl House restaurant is an Atlanta staple. The founder operated a restaurant in Ohio but decided to retire; however, upon her relocation to Georgia, she realized that she still had a passion for sharing traditional Korean dishes with her community. The chicken bulgogi is a traditional Korean dish expertly executed by Woo Nam Jeong Stone Bowl House. The noodle dishes are a primary reason to visit the restaurant with options like japchae and bibimbap. Various meat dishes and soup stews are available as well.
4199 Paces Ferry Rd SE, Atlanta, GA 30339
As its name might suggest, Canoe is located along the banks of the Chattahoochee River in the Vining Lies community. Canoe is open for lunch, dinner, and brunch and is often the host to many special events or wedding receptions. The restaurant is a short drive down Paces Ferry Road, but it provides beautiful views that make guests feel they have escaped the bustle of metro Atlanta. With Matthew Basford serving as Executive Chef, the dining menu is simply extraordinary. The restaurant offers fresh-baked pastries and a delightful smoked salmon eggs benedict topped with a citrus hollandaise during brunch. If you want fewer eggs on your plate, then visit for lunch and try the grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, swiss cheese, truffle oil, and oven-dried tomatoes. Try the braised rabbit with truffle mushroom and goat’s cheese ravioli topped with candied garlic au jus for dinner by the river.
Chai Pani is just a short distance from Toy Park. This laid-back restaurant serves Indian street fare along with a bunch of other delectables. You can come as you are at Chai Pani; it’s a very rustic place with inviting vibes. The food was everything that I expected and more. I was blown away to learn that there were tons of vegan options too. I settled on the Misal Pav and the chicken burgers, both of which have an incredible depth of flavor. There are many other delicacies there that you must try, such as Chicken Pakoras and the chili chicken rice dish.
If you have a hankering for some Malaysian cuisine and Asian street food, visit the Food Terminal. It sports a modern industrial look with friendly and inviting vibes. If you’re having trouble finding this gem, it’s not too far from the PanIQ Escape Room. The food is colorful, elegant, and, most of all, delicious. The staff is a model of excellence as well. If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, I suggest the following dishes: the Grandma Wonton BBQ pork tossed noodles (my favorite!), the Szechuan bone marrow noodle soup, and the roasted mushroom garlic noodles. All of them have a unique flavor profile that I enjoyed.
Hen Mother Cookhouse
The Hen Mother Cookhouse is a cross between a juice bar and a greasy spoon serving up yummy comfort food. This rustic eatery is a few miles away from Cortland Johns Creek. As a breakfast lover, this place checked off all the boxes. Their delicious pancakes were warm and fluffy with crispy edges, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the French toast was the best I’d had in the city. On my trip, I ordered chicken and waffles, which has the contrast of savory and sweet that I live for. I even had the mushrooms and creamed spinach quiche, which has an excellent flavor with a pillowy texture. Go for it!
La Grotta Ristorante Italiano
La Grotta Ristorante Italiano is a casual fine dining restaurant located in the center of the Buckhead neighborhood. A family-owned restaurant, La Grotta aims to provide a comfortable yet high-quality dining experience. With no hats, shorts, or flip-flops allowed in the dining room, this restaurant is a nice place for a special meal. Serving Italian cuisine, La Grotta is the best place in Atlanta for a traditional experience. To start, try the Burrata di Mozzarella Fresca with fresh Georgia heirloom tomatoes. The pasta at La Grotta is divine from the penne bolognese to the pappardelle con astice with lobster. The entrees are so satisfying!

Staplehouse sells shishito peppers and beef brisket and all of the components a person would need to build a great charcuterie board, including local cheeses from Sweet Grass Dairy farm and various sliced meats.
