Antico Pizza is a family-owned restaurant near Georgia Tech. They serve a variety of customers such as students, locals in the area, tourists, and more. They’re also family-friendly and you can always bring your kids to enjoy a pie. Essentially, this lovely atmosphere is great for anyone who loves pizza. Their goal was to recreate the energy of a typical day in Italy at the local pizzeria. What are they best known for? Brick-oven pizzas and communal table arrangements make Antico’s a unique place to come and dine in. They also allow you to bring your own alcoholic beverages in case you don’t prefer their Italian-style beers. My favorite pizza was the house specialty – Sophia. It has fresh mozzarella cheese, white truffle oil, and roasted mushrooms. The sauce packed a flavorful punch and the crust was light and crispy. Antico’s also serves both red and white sauce pizzas according to Italian tradition. Vegetarian options are available as well as a huge selection of conventional and gourmet pizzas. Don’t hesitate to try Antico’s if you’re near campus.

You can find Savage Pizza by the bike shop and the pharmacy, with the bright yellow sign and superheroes on the windows! The vibes in Savage are friendly and whimsical. The superhero-themed decor is perfect for children and adults who want to unlock the fan within. It’s a small restaurant with huge pizzas and awesome service. The dough is prepared fresh every day, along with a variety of sauces that they make in-house. You will also find that they have a nice selection of wine and beers available. They have a dessert menu that features gelato, which is a dessert specific to Italy. Additionally, Savage Pizza has numerous options to choose from, but one of their best sellers is the simple Tomato Basil pie. It has garlic, a lot of fresh basil, tomato sauce, parmesan, and mozzarella cheese. For vegetarians, the Sav-veg won’t disappoint; it comes with sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli, roasted red peppers, onions, mushrooms, and more fresh herbs and vegetables. Varasano’s Pizza, in the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (Terminal A), is probably one of the most surprisingly good pizzerias in Atlanta. When you think of airport food, you just don’t get the impression that you’ll be, well, impressed. The vibes are as relaxed as you can get in a busy airport, but they recommend that you grab a slice, fold it over, and enjoy. Varasano’s changes that; they give you numerous options, six different beers on tap, a full bar, and even wine selections. Depending on the season, you may also get to enjoy someone playing the piano nearby. They use all-natural ingredients, and they pride themselves on making the dough the old school way, using sourdough yeasts that have been fermenting for days. Varasano’s has exceptionally fast service, as their thin-crust pizzas only take about three minutes to bake. One of their best New-York style pizzas is the Salumi pie with Italian cured meats, mozzarella, tomato sauce, and spiced olives.

Over by the Buckhead Center is a quaint little pizzeria called Fellini’s Pizza. It’s a casual setting with friendly staff, excellent service, and people from all over the city and a few cities over. Some reviews have bestowed the honor of best pizza in Atlanta upon Fellini’s, and for good reason. They stay open late to serve their customers traditional Italian thin-crust pizzas by the slice or as a whole. You can sit outdoors or dine-in, and they also offer delivery service. Beer is available as well. One of the highlights of visiting this establishment was that you can add any of the free toppings such as oregano, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese. It takes your slice to the next level of flavor. There are also a lot of extra toppings that you may add like hot peppers, feta cheese, pineapple, ham, and so on. If you visit, try the Fellini’s Special with mushrooms, pepperoni, meatballs, green peppers, Italian sausage, black olives, extra cheese, green olives, onions.

Bruno Napoli does pizza the right way. One of the beloved Atlanta pizza places, Varuni’s has gotten plenty of press in multiple magazines for their delicious pizza pies. Located in the Midtown neighborhood and less than half a mile from Piedmont Park, locals love Varuni’s. Frequent guests have made it a weekly occasion to gather with friends and family. The decor with exposed brick walls is rustic and inviting. Luca Varuni is a master pizza maker that has taken everything he knows from his hometown of Naples, Italy, and brought it to Atlanta. He imports most of his ingredients from Italy so that he can provide a bonafide experience. The hospitality, great taste, and variety of toppings make this restaurant a winner. Varuni also has brunch pizza available, one of the most popular being the Fichissima. It comes with Gorgonzola cheese, arugula, prosciutto (similar to ham), Pecorino Romano (cheese), fresh mozzarella, and homemade fig jam. Some say it’s the best pizza in Midtown!

Ammazza is by the Dynamic El Dorado Comedy Club and Dad’s Garage Theatre. They have a simple decor that focuses on serving excellent quality pizza. Outdoor seating is available to guests, including your pet dogs, or you can sit at the tables or the bar. The space is open and feels like a neighborhood gathering spot. Though Ammazza has thin, wood-fired, crispy crust pizza, they don’t like to limit themselves to only NY or Neapolitan style pies. Instead, they combine multiple characteristics from both, to create the ultimate pizza-eating experience. All of their efforts go into quality, and it shows when they choose the best local ingredients for their establishment. Ammazza gives you robust flavors, homemade fresh mozzarella each day, fresh vegetables and cured meats from loc farmers, and a warm welcome overall. The Prosciutto pizza is delicious and it comes with garlic, extra virgin olive oil, basil, mozzarella, marinated artichokes, arugula, and shaved prosciutto. You’ll leave satiated and ready to plan your next visit.

Wondering where to get pizza in Atlanta? The Mellow Mushroom should be at the top of your list. Their pizzeria is on Monroe Drive, next to Starbucks on the Midtown Promenade. Locals from surrounding areas and the Virginia Highlands swear by Mellow Mushroom’s quality. They have stone-baked pizzas with homemade crust and unique combinations that you don’t typically get at a pizza place. They also serve calzones, burgers, salads, and quick bites, known as munchies. Thirsty? You can enjoy over 40 different types of beer (not all at once!) and even specialty cocktails. Don’t hesitate to name the server aware of any food allergies, as they can make most of their pizza gluten-free, or even vegetarian and vegan you like. In my opinion, the Great White Pizza is one of the best that I’ve had in a while. It comes with a garlic and olive oil base, and seasoned ricotta, provolone cheese, mozzarella, crumbled feta cheese, roasted to stores, sweet onions, Roma tomatoes, and fresh basil on top. You also have the option to build your own pizza if nothing quite suits you on the menu.

Over by the Lingering Shade Social Club and Near Jake’s Ice Cream, Glide Pizza is using old-fashioned techniques to bring the community some of the best pizza around. Their pizza is always fresh, hot, and delicious. The atmosphere is casual and upbeat at the same time. You’ll definitely enjoy yourself with the impeccable service that brings the food to your table, typically in less than ten minutes. They make their mozzarella in-house, and the pizza sauce is also made from scratch using sweet tomatoes. Their in-house ranch has been the topic of nearly every review I’ve read. Most people have stated that it’s the best part of the pizzeria because you can really taste the herbs and the sauce itself is super creamy. Glide’s has a half-sourdough crust that they let ferment for two days, producing the crispiest texture and maximum flavor. If you can’t decide which type of pizza to get, you can also use their divide option, which is two sides with different toppings. Each pie or huge slice comes with their famous ranch sauce, as well as pickled peppers.

Located moments from Piedmont Park is the ultimate pizzeria: Triple Jays Pizza Bar. Triple Jays has a very nice patio dining area which does nothing but add to the overall experience. The inside is modest yet inviting, just what you’d expect to get from a quality pizza place. Triple Jays won the award for the Best Pizza in Atlanta in 2020, and they were previously a food truck that has now expanded. In addition to the pizza, they also serve wings, which are crispy, juicy, and delicious. The staff is sure to name recommendations for those that feel overwhelmed by the variety of toppings, which is also helpful. I tried my hand with the NY- style Da Meats pizza. It came with Canadian bacon, sausage, pepperoni, and traditional bacon. I also sampled the Detroit-style BBQ Chicken pizza, which had BBQ sauce as a base and tender chicken on top with mozzarella cheese. Both were sensational and packed with flavor. Triple Jays is a must if you’re in the area!

Double Zero serves delectable anti-pasta dishes such as Bolognese, Mac and cheese, and more. I tried the Spicy Arrabbiata pizza and the Baked Meatballs, which were both infused with so much flavor. You can tell that the sauce is homemade and the ingredients were fresh and light for the pizza. The meatballs were juicy and the texture was perfect. Double Zero offers weekly specials on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This authentic Italian cuisine is impressionable because the pizzas are baked in a wood-burning oven, which infuses the pies with a unique taste. There are several options to choose between, and they even offer wine and the Italian staple frozen dessert, gelato. Two of their best-sellers are the Sorrentina pizza that has cherry tomatoes, smoked mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and parmesan cheese, and the Capricciosa. The Capricciosa has cooked ham, artichokes, salami, and olives.

Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria is an exceptional pizza restaurant located within eye’s view of Atlanta University. This spot is very quaint and youthful in terms of the vibes. The owners seem to have fun with their creations while giving their customers the option to customize their pizzas in great detail if they prefer to be more hands-on. When I stepped in, I first noticed the amazing art designs on their walls. I also noted how everyone had a smile on their face and seemed to be enjoying themselves. My kind of place! The menu isn’t too long, but they put a lot of work into what is offered, and it shows through in the finished products. I got down to business and ordered the mouthwatering Spicy Chicken Pizza, along with an order of their soft cinnamon rolls. The staff was very attentive and didn’t mind giving me suggestions on what they thought I’d like. I encourage anyone who attends the university or that visits loved ones there to try Slim & Husky’s for a fun time and good eats.
