Since 1964, Del Taco has offered a wide selection of tasty fast-food menu options for anyone interested in enjoying a quick bite to eat or who is too busy to cook something at home. However, some people might find it challenging to find gluten-free menu options on a fast-food menu.
Thankfully, that’s changing. You can find several gluten-free items on the Del Taco menu that are tasty, ideal for any dietary lifestyle, and often healthier alternatives to their most popular dishes.
Many of their gluten-free options include their signature tacos, gourmet fries, and other exclusive dishes.
Be sure to check with your local Del Taco to ensure that your items are gluten free, especially if you have a serious allergy. Sometimes even gluten free options can face cross contamination!
If you’re leading a gluten-free lifestyle or just want to cut back on it, I’ve got you covered with some of the best gluten-free options Del Taco has to offer.

Avocado Veggie Bowl
A tasty avocado veggie bowl is my favorite lean, green dining option on this list of the top Del Taco gluten-free items.
If you’re looking for something meatless but filling, it doesn’t get much better than this.
Made with crisp, green romaine lettuce, avocados, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black beans, and cilantro lime rice, this Fresca bowl offers the perfect blend of fresh flavors suitable for anyone following a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.
In my opinion, it’s almost like enjoying the best parts of a taco, without the meat, cheese, and crunchy shell.
Carne Asada Fries
These carne asada fries are one of the best Del Taco gluten-free items to enjoy as a side dish, or even as a quick meal on the go.
Although the fries are a bit higher on the calorie count, topping off at 790 calories per serving, they offer plenty of protein thanks to the juicy, spiced carne asada.
I love the zesty sensation that the fresh guacamole, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and signature secret sauce that these flashy fries left on my tongue.
Although this menu item doesn’t contain gluten, it might not be the best option for anyone sensitive to milk, eggs, or soy.
Hash Brown Sticks
Are you having trouble finding any Del Taco gluten-free items suitable for a quick breakfast pick-me-up?
Consider trying their hash brown sticks for a better way to begin your day.
I usually order them as a side to my breakfast tacos or burrito, but you can also enjoy them as a meal if you order two of them.
These vegan-friendly snacks at Del Taco come in a five-piece pack, adding up to 230 calories per serving.
However, what draws me to these hash brown sticks is their low sodium content, measuring 180 milligrams. So, while some people may consider them a breakfast version of French fries, they aren’t as salty.
Street Tacos
Seasoned with onions, avocados, cilantro, and roasted chile salsa, and wrapped together in a crunchy corn tortilla, Del Taco’s street tacos are an excellent option for anyone who prefers fresh takes on classic Mexican street fare.
You can choose between their carne asada or marinated chicken tacos, both having a relatively close calorie count of 180 and 170, respectively. My favorite is their chicken variety.
However, if you’re looking for an authentic gluten-free dining experience, I recommend substituting their corn tortilla with crisp lettuce.
When I swapped out my shells, I was surprised by how well the lettuce’s freshness blended with the flavors of the meat and vegetables.
Its tangy green sauce brings everything together for a traditional, classic flavor you’ll love.
Beyond Taco
Del Taco’s Beyond Taco offers a tasty vegetarian alternative for anyone who doesn’t want to miss out on a lively Taco Tuesday night with their friends.
Besides offering quality flavor and texture to anyone following a gluten-free or vegetarian diet, I also love how this taco comes in soft and crunchy shell options.
Their signature seasoned plant-based Beyond Meat tastes so much like regular taco meat that I couldn’t tell the difference, especially with its perfect meat-to-cheese ratio, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
It’s also packed with plenty of protein and low in cholesterol, making it the perfect meal under 300 calories. I love ordering it with a refreshing iced coffee or strawberry lemonade.
Crinkle-Cut Fries
If you’re looking for the perfect side dish for your burger or taco, I recommend not missing out on Del Taco’s crinkle-cut fries.
They’re available in three sizes – small, medium, and macho, with a calorie range between 160 to 410.
The fries are delicious on their own, but you can take them to the next level by dipping them in any of Del Taco’s signature sauces.
When it comes to exceeding my expectations for crinkle-cut fries, I expect them to retain their potato taste, have the right amount of salt, and have a crunchy texture in every bite when dining out with others or taking them home, and these didn’t disappoint.
Vanilla Shake
We couldn’t forget dessert! So many dessert items aren’t gluten-free, and it can be hard to miss out when your friends and family are enjoying sweet treats.
Thankfully, Del Taco has you covered with its vanilla shake. It’s an excellent treat you can enjoy as a drink with your main meal or a dessert to help you cool down after a long day.
It’s also vegetarian-friendly and hand-blended to perfection.
I paired my shake with my order of tacos and fries, and drank it so fast that I got a slight brain freeze!
So, take your time sipping this decadent, creamy treat, especially on a warm summer night. If vanilla isn’t your style, you can also try their chocolate and strawberry flavors.
The fries and hash browns are NOT gluten free. They are cooked in the same fryers as the breaded items on the menu. If you have celiac disease, you need to stay far away from Del Taco. Cross contamination is extremely high.
