9 Most Popular Sonic Blasts

Try Sonic’s Master Blasts for a sweet ice cream treat.

I don’t know about you, but ice cream is one of my comfort foods. When you combine ice cream with some other standard comforts like chocolate, caramel, and candy, it’s nothing short of bliss.

That’s why I always find myself ordering a Blast from Sonic. Sure, it’s not the healthiest of choices, but everyone deserves a treat now and then. Besides, as you’ll soon see, you can order Blasts with real fruit – so, at least you can feel a little healthy while you indulge!

Needless to say, I feel more than qualified to share the best Sonic Blasts that I’ve discovered. But, before I jump into the many mouthwatering flavors they offer, let me give you the down-low on sizes.

Sonic Blasts come in four sizes – Mini Blast, Small Blast, Medium Blast, and Large Blast.

As with so many food items, the larger you go, the more bang you’ll get for your buck. While the Mini Blast is great for people wanting a small sweet treat, I prefer ordering the Small Blast or larger.

Sonic Blast Flavors

With that under our belts, let’s look at the top flavors of Sonic Blasts that you can order.

When I’m craving cookies on a hot day, Sonic’s Cookie Dough Master Blast is my go-to.

They mix vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookie dough for a classic flavor that’s too good to pass up.

I’m not talking about a little chunk of dough and a sliver of chocolate here and there – Sonic’s cookie dough to ice cream ratio will leave you feeling like you just ate a whole cookie (or three).

If you want to beef up the chocolatey taste of this Blast, go ahead and ask them for chocolate syrup or a hot fudge add-on topping. Your tastebuds will thank you for it!

Cheesecake Blast

If you live in a household of people who turn their noses up to cheesecake (speaking from experience here), choosing a cheesecake blast at Sonic is a great way to get your fill.

As if it couldn’t get any better, you have two options to choose from – Cheesecake Blast and Strawberry Cheesecake Blast.

Sonic makes these Blasts by mixing real cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and graham cracker pieces.

For their strawberry version, they use real fruit, making you feel slightly healthier eating it (but no judgment here if you choose the regular Blast).

The only downside? As of now, Sonic offers their Cheesecake Blasts at certain locations or only in the summer.

I can’t think of a better excuse to visit Sonic more frequently before they take it off their seasonal calendar!

Butterfinger Blast

If you’re a Butterfinger lover like me, choosing Sonic’s Butterfinger Blast is a no-brainer.

You’ll need to get your teeth ready for some chewing action, given they pack this Blast full of Butterfinger candy.

Best of all, Sonic doesn’t add anything to hide Butterfinger’s already perfectly balanced ingredients—crushed Butterfinger mixed with vanilla ice cream is what you’ll get.

Of course, I’m with you if you want to spruce up your Blast. So, I sometimes balance out the crunch Butterfinger offers with the smooth texture of Reese’s peanut butter cups.

And, I can’t forget about my favorite topping – there’s something about caramel syrup that draws out Butterfinger’s qualities.

Snickers Blast

I always turn to the Snickers Blast when looking for a treat that’ll provide more substance.

After all, it’s nice to know that I’ll be getting some protein with dessert.

Furthermore, In my opinion, the Snickers Blast is the best Sonic Blast for nut lovers.

As its name implies, the Snickers Blast contains two tasty ingredients – real, chopped-up Snickers bars and vanilla ice cream.

I have to admit that the chocoholic in me always asks for added chocolate toppings when I want an extra pick-me-up. Here’s my pro tip – ask them to add brownie pieces to the mix. You’ll thank me later!

Double Stuf Oreo Blast

If you prefer double Oreos over the regular kind, you’re in for a treat.

Sonic’s Double Stuf Oreo Blast blends regular Oreos with a serving of Oreo sweet creme.

It might shock you to hear this, but Sonic mixes these ingredients into vanilla ice cream.

I’m not going to lie – I’d be interested in trying this Blast with chocolate ice cream to create a greater difference between the creme and ice cream if it’s ever an option.

But, at the end of the day, there’s little reason to nitpick this masterpiece.

Of course, you can always ask them to mix in chocolate syrup if you want to increase the chocolatey flavor of this dessert.

Caramel Brownie Master Blast

Calling all caramel lovers! One of the best Sonic blasts for caramel and chocolate lovers is the Caramel Brownie Master Blast.

Sonic piles on the brownie pieces and salted caramel for this treat, so make sure you’re hungry and that you have a major sweet tooth before indulging.

As with any Blast, you can also spruce up your dessert with toppings. You might want to cover your eyes at this healthy suggestion, but I sometimes like asking for a fresh strawberry topping.

If you’re looking for the Caramel Brownie Master Blast on Sonic’s menu and don’t see it, that means it’s either seasonal or not available at your location.

The staff might be able to give you the low-down on when or where you can get it.

M&M’s Sonic Blast

The only thing better than M&Ms is M&Ms mixed with vanilla ice cream.

That’s what you’ll get with Sonic’s M&M Blast, and it’s utter bliss. This is a seemingly simple Blast that offers nostalgic flavor kids and adults both love.

However, you can bulk up your Blast with various toppings for an added cost.

I recommend adding Reese’s peanut butter cups or cookie dough pieces. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

For a topping, consider adding caramel, hot fudge, or whipped cream.

Oreo Sonic Blast

If regular Oreos are your style, you’ll love Sonic’s Oreo Blast.

They pack an impressive amount of real Oreo cookies into vanilla ice cream for a classic “cookies and cream” taste that’s better than any other ice cream spot I’ve found!

But before you think you can plop some Oreo cookies on a scoop of vanilla ice cream at home, consider this – Sonic blends the Oreo cookies into their soft-serve vanilla ice cream to perfection.

I love how they leave plenty of larger chunks while grinding some of the chocolate cookie and cream into the ice cream.

Reese’s Sonic Blast

You guessed it – Reese’s Sonic Blast contains a mixture of Reese’s peanut butter cups and vanilla ice cream.

Just like all of their brand-name candy Blasts, Sonic uses the real thing, not some knock-off brand that’ll offset the flavor of your dessert.

I’ve had a lot of fun mixing and matching toppings with my Reese’s Blast.

Some of my favorite combinations include peanut butter and Butterfinger pieces.

Yes, I’m one of those people that just can’t get enough peanut butter. For an extra punch of chocolate to balance it all out, I recommend asking them for a topping of chocolate syrup.

I don’t know about you, but it can feel hard to choose between these best Sonic Blasts. From their signature candy blends using Reese’s and M&M’s to something a bit fresher and brighter like a Strawberry Cheesecake Blast, there’s something for everyone.

If you can’t decide on just one, don’t be afraid to visit your local Sonic Drive-In more than once to try them all!

What I love about Sonic’s Blasts is the flexibility to make them your own. Yes, you’ll pay extra for toppings. But, if you love one of these base Blasts but are craving an extra kick of a specific flavor, they’ve got you covered.
