Boston Breweries to Visit This Weekend

You don’t have to be a Red Sox fan to enjoy the city of Boston.

breweries in boston serves food and beer

From the exciting views at Fenway Park to the relaxing ambiance of the Boston Public Garden, the city has something for everyone.

Boston also has a vibrant nightlife, promising there’s a great time to be had by all.

After the baseball game ends, head out for an ice-cold beer at one of the unique breweries in Beantown.

If you crave an IPA or are in the mood for a classic stout, you’re in the right place.

Check out my list of the best breweries in Boston below!

Dorchester Brewing Company

Visit Website

Dorchester Brewing Co, a partner facility with a public Tap Room, opened its doors to craft-beer lovers in 2016.

The tasting room is not the only spot for sipping; Dorchester Brewing Co. recently expanded to a Rooftop Greenhouse, a Game Room, and a restaurant.

My favorite thing about this location is the atmosphere.

Nothing beats a delicious brew with a beautiful view. The Rooftop Greenhouse offers breathtaking glimpses of the city.

The menu features plenty of vegetarian options, including my favorite, the jackfruit slider.

It was flavorful and filling. But what would a brewery review be without some beer critique?

You can’t go wrong with the craft beer flight. This selection is a wonderful way for beginners to explore their tastes or fanatics to try everything on the menu.

My favorite IPA is the honestly-named Bad Decision Juice.

If you prefer cider, Down to the Core is refreshing and tart.

Night Shift Brewing

The Lovejoy Wharf is located about five minutes from North Station and seconds from the TD Garden arena.

In addition to being a brewery, it is home to a coffee bar that serves delicious Detroit Style pizzas. While Night Shift’s wine selection is limited, the food and draft beer selection are plentiful.

Their exclusive Retro Fitter Brown Ale has a slightly bitter, chocolatey flavor.

The Key Lime Piescraper has a tart lime taste that pairs perfectly with the sweet and creamy vanilla finish.

Don’t forget to grab some grub to accompany your beer. I enjoyed The Figgy Piggy, which is one of the most popular pizzas.

The Farmer’s Market is a scrumptious, vegetarian option.

Cambridge Brewing Company

1 Kendall Square Bldg 75, Cambridge, MA 02139
Phone: 617-494-1994
Visit Website

Cambridge Brewing Company takes pride in its variety of traditional and ambitious brewing styles.

From classic house beers to unique, single-batch creations, Cambridge Brewing hits the nail on the head, offering a wide range of flavors to appeal to every taste bud.

When I visited this location, they split their beer options into four categories: light, malty, hoppy, and unique.

YouEnjoyMyStout is a must-try for stout lovers.

I decided to be more adventurous and try a unique option. I ended up opting for the Chili Chocolate Porter and had no regrets.

Another plus is that the patio is dog-friendly. What’s better than enjoying a drink alongside your favorite pooch?

Harpoon Brewery

306 Northern Ave, Boston, MA 02210
Phone: 617-456-2322
Visit Website

You can find Harpoon Beer Hall in the Seaport District of Boston.

I loved the uniqueness of the menu. This brewery offers four flight options, including the  UFO sampler and Clown Shoes sampler.

There are also fun, on-location perks like trivia nights and the Summer Food Pop-Up Series. The handmade pretzels are a delicious snack.

If you’re there at the right time of year, you must try the UFO Fall Explorer.

The UFO Pumpkin feature is my favorite way to kick off the new season. Grab a beer and get ready to play some cornhole!

Trillium Brewing Company

Located right on the Waterfront, this farmhouse-style location is known for its spacious atmosphere and tasty variety of IPAs.

Trillium has several locations, but you can’t beat the views at this Thompson Place spot. The space is welcoming and the staff is friendly.

I was in the mood for some snacks when I visited Trillium, and I couldn’t resist the soft pretzel.

Both sauces were delicious and the pretzel was perfectly salted.

After trying a few delicious IPAs, I opted for the Double Seesaw. This choice ended up being the favorite of everyone at my table.

It was bursting with fruity flavors and is a gorgeous, deep red color. It is the perfect, refreshing summer treat.

Turtle Swamp Brewing

3377 Washington St, Boston, MA 02130
Phone: 617-522-0038
Visit Website

Turtle Swamp Brewing, located in central Jamaica Plain, is a fun, quaint spot that prides itself on being a neighborhood brewery.

The patio seating is comfortable and relaxing.  I truly felt welcomed here. If you like IPAs, give the Paper Turtle a shot.

This option is the perfect balance of smooth and strong. They also offer monthly brewery tours and guided tastings.

We gave this a shot and didn’t regret it.

The experience lasted for about 90 minutes and was a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Aeronaut Brewing Company

14 Tyler St, Somerville, MA 02143
Phone: 617-987-4236
Visit Website

My experience at Aeronaut Brewing Company was pleasant. The brewery is located about one mile from Harvard Square.

Their selection of sours was amazing. I opted to try Robot Crush, which is an American pilsner.

It was well-balanced and crisp. I also sipped on the Molasses Mild, which was smooth and warm.

Carolicious, who specializes in Venezuelan delicacies, is the food vendor for Aeronaut Brewing Company.

I tried a mouth-watering chicken and pico de gallo arepa with basil sauce.

Customers may also bring in their own food, but why would you want to?

Democracy Brewing

35 Temple Pl, Boston, MA 02111
Phone: 857-263-8604
Visit Website

Democracy Brewing is a worker-owned pub. The staff strives to create the atmosphere of your local spot combined with a classic beer hall.

On my first visit here, I couldn’t help but notice the variety of cuisines offered on the menu.

The Sweet Chili Bao Buns and Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower caught my eye.

I ended up splitting both of these dishes with a friend and did not regret it! I enjoyed the 1916 Rising on my visit.

It is an Irish stout flavored with roasted malt and coffee. It was creamy and hoppy.

Another standout on the menu was the Story Behind The Name portions under each drink category.

Most offer an interesting historical fact. Sometimes Democracy Brewing donates a portion of each beer sale to a non-profit organization.

I think that is wonderful, and it makes me want to visit this location more often.

Distraction Brewing Co.

2 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale, MA 02131
Phone: 617-477-3677
Visit Website

This location in Roslindale Village is a charming spot that is perfect to visit with friends.

Distraction Brewing Co. has delicious drink options and is surrounded by a few great restaurants.

Although its menu is all about the beverages, you are allowed to bring your own food in. If you can handle something spicy, I absolutely recommend the Jalapale.

This pale ale has flavors of jalapeno and lime, and I love the unique taste.

I know that breweries are known for beer, but the Lemon Meringue Pie Martini was another incredible choice.

Lamplighter Brewing Co. – Broadway

284 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139
Phone: 617-945-0450
Visit Website

I loved the atmosphere at Lamplighter Brewing Company. Another thing I loved about this spot was its in-house cafe, Pepita.

In addition to a variety of coffee, the menu offered a ton of delicious sandwiches.

I grabbed a Fresh Veggie Sandwich, and it was the perfect, light bite.

My friend opted for the simple Three Cheese Grilled Cheese and gave it a thumbs up. The Easy Tiger is a favorite of many, and I can see why.

It was the perfect combination of fruitiness and hoppy taste. I then tried the Night Cap Imperial Stout, and it was strong, yet smooth.

Notch Brewery & Tap Room

Located at the Charles River Speedway, this Notch location is a fun spot that built its foundation on session beer.

I love the selection of beer from different cultures and the history here.

I decided to check out the German Bier when I visited Notch.

My favorite was the Altbier. It had a balanced, layered flavor, featuring both vanilla and earthy flavors. Everyone loved the upbeat vibes here.

Remnant Brewing

2 Bow Mkt Wy, Somerville, MA 02143
Phone: 617-764-0641
Visit Website

Remnant Brewing, located in Bow Market, is surrounded by over twenty other food and retail spots.

The location is a plus here, especially because Remnant Brewing welcomes you to bring food from their fellow Bow Market vendors.

I decided to order Buenas, a food vendor in Bow Market, to munch on while I ordered some drinks at Remnant.

The Space Junk was one of the best sours I had in a while.

I loved the tart flavors. If you need a pick-me-up, I recommend the Numerology Coffee Stout. The flavors were authentic, and this drink featured real cold brew.

Samuel Adams Boston Brewery

30 Germania St, Boston, MA 02130
Phone: 617-368-5080

This notorious spot has awesome tours and delicious, dependable beer options. I am a sucker for the Wicked Hazy IPA. It is fruity and smooth.

If you’re in the area, the brewery tour is a must. There are several different tour options, from the classic, private tour to the VIP experience.

Everyone knows Samuel Adams, but the tour guide made our experience intimate and educational.

We received a few beer samples on the tour, and they were all delicious.

My favorite was the fruity, experimental option. I love the innovation of this brand.

Boston is a hotspot for beer lovers, and I will visit these locations again.

If you are in the area, I recommend grabbing a friend and grabbing a bite to eat and a glass (or two) of delicious craft beer at one of the best breweries in Boston.

Don’t forget to check out some of these breakfast spots while you’re in Boston as well!
