11 Popular Options for Breakfast at Carl’s Jr.

Carl’s Jr. is an American classic, an offspring of now long-gone Carl’s BBQ and sibling restaurant to Hardee’s. There have been Carl Jr. restaurants in America since 1956, and they show no signs of slowing down or stopping.

Carl’s Jr. specializes in diner foods–burgers and fries, especially their signature charbroiled burgers. However, the 1980s brought more changes to the restaurant.

Franchises across the country opened, and breakfast menus were added. While it took almost 20 years for Carl’s Jr. to perfect the iconic breakfast burger, this was the start of morning food.

If you’ve never been to Carl’s Jr., you’re missing out on some delightful food. Breakfast hours vary per restaurant but are generally from 6-10:30 AM. However, if you miss the cutoff, you can always try a famous charbroiled burger, chicken wrap, or some classic french fries.

Carl’s Jr. Breakfast Menu Items

Check out our favorite breakfast options at Carl’s Jr. to start your day right!

Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Burrito

The most prolific item on the Carl’s Jr. menu is the burrito. It comes in several different styles and is a lighter, on-the-go version of a breakfast sandwich.

While many places have breakfast burritos, Carl’s Jr. excels at flavors and the ratio of eggs to cheese to meat. This tex-mex spin on breakfast is a huge hit in and out of the southwest.

The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Burrito doesn’t come with any surprises–it has bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a burrito shell.

It’s relatively small, so this is an awesome choice if you’re not a huge breakfast eater. The burrito is also one of the lowest-calorie breakfast menu items at Carl’s Jr.

Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit

Do you like the idea of bacon, egg, and cheese but want something a little more filling?

Transfer all of those ingredients onto a biscuit, and you’ve got the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit!

This breakfast sandwich highlights one of Carl’s Jr.’s strong suits: their breakfast biscuits.

Now is a great time to stop and talk about Carl’s Jr. biscuits. I love biscuits and will eat them anywhere, but I especially appreciate them when they are good, moist, delicious biscuits.

Carl’s Jr. delivers with fluffy biscuits just begging for cheese, butter, or gravy (or all three–I certainly won’t judge).

Biscuit ‘N’ Gravy

Speaking of biscuits, why not add some gravy to that? Like most southern based restaurants, Carl’s. Jr. focuses on southern recipes for inspiration (although they’re actually based out west).

The morning Biscuit ‘N’ Gravy is no exception and tastes just like granny used to make it.

Despite being smothered in gravy, this meal is relatively low in calories.

You will be full after just eating one since they don’t skimp on the gravy!

Pork sausage is used for the classic biscuits and gravy flavor, and a Carl’s Jr. buttermilk biscuit shines through with just enough sweet softness to be perfect.

Sausage Grilled Cheese Breakfast Sandwich

If you love paninis and warm sandwiches, you are probably a fan of breakfast sandwiches.

Whether they’re on biscuits, English muffins, or sourdough toast, they are warm, delicious, and the perfect way to start a day.

Add a little bit of that warmth to your life and try this Grilled Cheese Breakfast Sandwich.

This sandwich is grilled on the king of all breakfast bread – sourdough. It has a sausage patty, egg, and two types of cheese (swiss and cheddar).

The multiple kinds of cheese add the perfect meltiness to this golden brown breakfast sandwich. You’ll want some breakfast tomato soup to accompany this classic!

Monster Biscuit

Can’t decide on what to get for breakfast? Well, Carl’s Jr. has a solution for you: get everything!

The Monster Biscuit gives you a taste of, well, pretty much the entire breakfast menu.

It has all the highlights packed onto one enormous burger. It lives up to the name!

The monster biscuit starts with a buttermilk biscuit (of course). It then stacks a sausage patty, cheddar cheese, egg, bacon, another egg, and swiss cheese.

The only thing this monster doesn’t have is gravy (but I’m pretty sure you can ask for that). I love the monster biscuit, but only if I’m very hungry.

Big Country Breakfast Burrito

There is nothing more satisfying than a full country breakfast. You get a little bit of everything, from gravy to hash browns.

However, if you’re on the go and can’t sit down with a knife and fork, you don’t want to miss out on the country breakfast platter. Guess what? Carl’s Jr. has a solution for this breakfast conundrum as well.

The Big Country Breakfast Burrito has all the fixings of a country breakfast with no plate attached.

It features eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, gravy, hash browns, and cheddar cheese and is wrapped in a burrito for your eating convenience.

If you have been looking for a slightly smaller, portable country breakfast platter, look no further.

Breakfast Burger

Probably the most iconic breakfast menu item, the Breakfast Burger is the perfect combination of morning delight with Carl’s Jr.’s classic tastes.

It’s been around since 2004 and is so popular that it became an all-day item starting in 2017. Now you can sleep in and still enjoy the breakfast burger.

This burger has a standard charbroiled patty, ketchup, and cheese. Bacon crosses the bridge between lunch and breakfast foods to meet hash browns and egg on the other side.

No matter what time of day it is, I promise you won’t regret trying this filling and delicious burger. Of course, you can also buy regular burgers all day at Carl’s Jr.!

Hash Rounds

Of course, no breakfast meal is complete without some kind of hash brown. Like any good midwesterner, I love potatoes.

I love them in any form, but especially when they’re shredded and fried in butter.

Hash browns are some of the most delicious potatoes in the world, and Carl’s Jr.’s Hash Rounds are a great addition to the hash brown family.

One of two breakfast sides available (the other ones are French Toast Sticks, and they are equally delightful), hash rounds are little nuggets of potato goodness.

They are amazing in burritos and on breakfast burgers, or good dipped in ketchup. These bit-sizes hash browns make the perfect side for any breakfast combo.

Loaded Breakfast Burrito

For a complete breakfast that maybe isn’t as extravagant as the Country Breakfast Burrito, the Loaded Breakfast Burrito boasts several flavors and different ingredients.

However, it’s not too greasy or overwhelming (and while I love the one with gravy on it, there are some mornings that it’s just too much).

This burrito has eggs, salsa, bacon, sausage, shredded cheese, and hash rounds, all wrapped in a tortilla.

It’s a great way to start a slow morning–loaded (but not overloaded) with protein and flavor.

Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit

For a simpler breakfast, we can return to three-ingredient breakfast sandwiches.

If you like a sausage patty on your biscuit, the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit is like a tiny version of the breakfast burger. It’s the perfect size to go along with a Carl’s Jr. coffee and a side of hash rounds.

I love the fancier stuff at Carl’s Jr., but I always find myself coming back to the basics. Some days, I just want a simple meal like my mom used to make before school.

The sausage, egg, and cheese do the trick and fill me up without leaving me feeling greasy or overfull.

Steak and Egg Burrito

The last burrito on Carl’s Jr.’s breakfast list is the Steak and Egg Burrito. If you’re looking for a little bit of a Southwestern flair, this burrito has your name on it.

The steak is charbroiled (like the famous burger patties), and the salsa adds a nice tang to the burrito. There are also eggs and shredded cheddar cheese on the burrito.

Each breakfast burrito at Carl’s Jr. is served in a warm flour tortilla. If you get them to go, they’re wrapped in foil, making them stay warm and moist for quite a while.

Every one of these burritos is good, but the steak and egg burrito is my personal favorite. I think it’s unique and tasty without being over the top.
