When some people first heard of the secret menus in these stores, they expected that you could simply walk up to the counter and ask for a “pink drink” or a “poor man’s Big Mac”. Instead, you will have to follow some ordering hacks, and do some work yourself to create these dishes for yourself. The great thing about the McDonald’s secret menu is that it can be used to help ease the stress of having to decide between two different meals.
Ice Cream Sandwich
First up, we would suggest giving the ice cream sandwich at McDonald’s a try. This, of course, isn’t an item on their actual menu, but it is actually really easy to order and assemble an ice cream sandwich yourself. Of all the items on the secret menu, this is one of the most simple, and it tastes delicious. But be warned, it isn’t the cleanest option to eat, and you will definitely end up with ice cream down your front, so don’t forget napkins!
How to order: Order 2 chocolate chip cookies, and a McFlurry of your choice, then sandwich them together.
Poor Man’s Big Mac
Next up, we have the potentially offensive, named Poor Man’s Big Mac.
This is a great option if you don’t want to pay the full price of a Big Mac, don’t fancy the extra bun in the Big Mac, or simply fancy a smaller version of this burger.
But be warned, you will have to enter the store to order this one because Big Mac sauce isn’t available on the app.
How to order: Order a McDouble without ketchup, add Big Mac sauce and lettuce.
Hash Brown McMuffin
Let’s face it, everybody loves the hash browns at McDonald’s. They are the best thing about the breakfast menu, and they always taste amazing.
With every McMuffin meal that you order, you will receive a hash brown, and you might find yourself asking why it doesn’t come inside the McMuffin.
But, for a hash brown McMuffin, all you have to do is insert the hash brown into the center of your McMuffin, and enjoy!
How to order: Any McMuffin sandwich meal, insert the hash brown into the center of your McMuffin.
Orange Creamsicle
If you are feeling creative, then you should consider trying the orange creamsicle off the McDonald’s secret menu.
This is definitely an odd order, but it tastes amazing, so you should definitely give it a try. You will have to visit the store to order this, as you cannot add pop onto your ice cream on the app.
Or, you could simply order your pop separately, then add it yourself to save the hassle.
How to order: Order plain soft serve, with orange Fanta on top. Alternatively, order plain soft serve and a cup of orange Fanta, then add it over the top yourself.
Surf and Turf Burger
On most restaurant menus, you will find some sort of surf and turf item.
You will not find this on the regular McDonald’s menu, but you will on the secret menu.
This is another very easy option to order, so you should definitely check it out.
Especially if you love the filet-o-fish burger that McDonald’s sells.
How to order: Cheeseburger and filet-o-fish. Remove the top bun from the filet-o-fish, then place the cheeseburger on top and enjoy.
Apple Pie McFlurry
One of the hardest decisions that you have to make at McDonald’s is dessert. Choosing between the trademark McFlurry, or the delicious hot apple pie is extremely hard.
But, with this option off the secret menu, you won’t have to decide. Instead, you can have the best of both worlds.
You can request this at the desk, but not all McDonald’s stores will do this for you, so you might have to do the mixing yourself instead.
How to order: Either order a plain McFlurry with an apple pie mixed in or order a plain McFlurry and an apple pie, then do the mashing and mixing yourself.
Land, Sea, and Air Burger
If you loved the idea of the surf and turf burger, you will love the ‘Land, Sea, and Air Burger’ off the secret menu.
This burger takes the surf and turf to the next level by including a chicken burger in the mix too. You’re combining three of McDonald’s all-time best menu items, what’s not to love?
There are lots of different flavor combinations in this burger, and for some people, it can be too much, but if you like a bit of everything, it is perfect.
How to order: Order one McChicken, one Filet-o-Fish, and one cheeseburger. Remove the top bun off your Filet-o-Fish and cheeseburger, then stack and enjoy!
Neapolitan Shake
For lovers of Neapolitan ice cream, the Neapolitan shake is perfect.
This is an easy enough option to order, and it requires no work on your part.
All you have to do is order this shake but be warned you will need to go into the store for this.
How to order: Order all flavors of shake within one cup, then stir thoroughly yourself with a straw.
Big McChicken
For the ultimate protein kick, you should check out the Big McChicken off the McDonald’s secret menu.
This is only comparable to the double-down burger at KFC, and while it isn’t as good, it is still one of the best options on the secret menu.
How to order: Order 3 McChickens and a Big Mac. Remove the buns from your McChickens, and replace the buns in the Big Mac with the McChicken patties. Sit back and enjoy.
Mcaffogato
This is one of the most popular items on the McDonald’s secret menu, and one of the easiest to order, too.
You have 2 options with this drink, let’s take a look at what they are.
How to order: Order an espresso shot with a vanilla soft serve OR a vanilla shake. Pour the espresso over the top, stir thoroughly, then drink.
McBrunch Burger
Finally, we have the McBrunch burger. This burger is perfect for those who love the breakfast and the main menu at McDonald’s and simply cannot choose between the two.
With the best of both worlds, this burger is insanely delicious, and easily the best option on the secret menu.
How to order: Order a cheeseburger, round egg, and a hash brown. Place your egg and hash brown inside the burger, and enjoy this delight!
Monster Mac
More of a menu hack than a true secret menu item, The Monster Mac has all of the classic Big Mac toppings, but it has a whopping 8 burger patties.
The Monster Mac comes with three pieces of bread, with four burger patties on each side of the Big Mac’s third bun. It comes with all the usual fixings, including cheese, Big Mac sauce, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes.
How to order: If your server hasn’t heard of McDonald’s secret menu items like the Monster Mac, ask for a Big Mac with eight burger patties to create this secret menu item.
Grilled Cheese
This McDonald’s secret menu item is easy to create. McDonald’s has plenty of cheese and bread, so it’s no stretch to order a grilled cheese!
A grilled cheese at McDonald’s is made with their burger buns and the cheese used on burgers. It’s a great vegetarian option if you want a cheesy sandwich without the meat of a cheeseburger.
How to order: Ask for a grilled cheese sandwich, or for a cheeseburger with no meat.
