The first Blimpie location opened in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1964. It was founded by three high school friends who wanted to create a delicious sub shop that was affordable and accessible to everyone.

Today, there are just over 150 Blimpie sandwich shops across the country, so not everyone’s heard of it. Or, you might pass by one every day but you’ve never given it a try. If Blimpie is new to you, you’re in for a treat.
It would be a fun and exciting endeavor to try to eat your way through the whole menu, but in case you want somewhere specific to start, I’ve compiled a list of the best Blimpie sandwiches and more below.
Or, if you’re a Blimpie veteran and have already been many times, maybe you’re stuck ordering the same thing every time and never branching out.
Either way, the options listed below are some of the best items Blimpie has to offer, and they’ll never disappoint.
Check out our favorite Blimpie sandwiches and sides to find your next order!
Blimpie Best
You can’t go wrong with the original Blimpie sandwich, the Blimpie Best.
With an amazing assortment of deli meats and toppings, this sandwich is an instant classic.
This delicious sub includes slow-cured ham, salami, capicola, prosciuttini, provolone, and is made The Blimpie Way with tomatoes, lettuce, onion, vinegar, oil, and oregano.
A large Blimpie Best sub is about 920 calories, while the regular size is 470 calories.
With so many high-quality deli meats, the sub is high in protein!
The large packs in a whopping 52g of protein, while the regular is full of 26g of protein. So, no matter your dietary needs or goals, this is a great (and delicious) sub to choose from.
Ham & Swiss
I love a classic ham and swiss, and Blimpie does it right! You can’t help but be reminded of your childhood when you bite into this simple yet delicious sandwich.
The Ham & Swiss is not trying to do too much, but it’s satisfying in just the right ways.
This nostalgic choice is filled with slow-cured ham and swiss cheese and made the Blimpie Way with tomatoes, lettuce, onion, vinegar, oil, and oregano.
A large Ham & Swiss sub is about 860 calories, while the regular size is 430 calories.
Though this one is not stacked to the brim with deli meats, it still packs a great protein punch!
Tuna
The Blimpie Tuna sub is one of their best. I know tuna isn’t for everyone, but if tuna sandwiches are your thing, you’ll adore this one!
This amazing sub is piled high with tuna salad, making it an absolute monster of a sandwich that will delight you from start to finish.
It is made with deli-style tuna, tomatoes, and lettuce, but you could always customize it further if that’s what you’re looking for.
If you don’t like the taste of traditional deli meats or you’re trying to eat more fish (especially during lent), you won’t have to sacrifice on flavor when you choose this delicious, nutritious option.
BLT
Maybe a BLT Sub isn’t the healthiest option in the world, but I don’t care, and neither should you when something tastes this good!.
Blimpie prepares their BLT sub with piles of crisp bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise.
I love to get creative and customize this one, but we all know it’s perfect the way it is.
A large BLT would be a splurge and would be worth every bit of its 1020 calories.
It’s also filled with 35g of protein, making it hearty and filling. The regular has 510 calories and 18g of protein.
Chocolate Chunk Cookie
The Blimpie Chocolate Chunk Cookie is unbeatable when you have a sweet tooth.
It’s inexpensive, it’s delicious, and it makes for a great dessert after a delicious Blimpie sub or a nice treat when you just want something sweet.
I love that they use chocolate chunks and not chocolate chips. It makes the cookie so much more indulgent and amazing!
Ham Salami & Provolone
Another meat-heavy, mouth-watering sub from Blimpie is the Ham, Salami & Provolone. I love that it levels up the classic Ham & Cheese, but doesn’t get crazy.
The addition of salami provides a unique salty and slightly spicy flavor that elevates the other ingredients.
This sandwich is surprisingly simple, but it’s a must-try when it comes to Blimpie’s extensive menu. It’s filled with all the goodies you’d expect: slow-cured ham, salami, and provolone made the Blimpie Way.
I love everything about this one – especially how high in protein it is. The large comes in at 930 calories and 46g of protein, while the regular comes in at 470 calories and 23g of protein.
Hokoben Hero
Don’t get me started on the Hoboken Hero. I love everything about it!
This is truly my idea of a perfect sub and has everything I look for when I think of my ideal sandwich.
The Hoboken Hero – named after the franchise’s humble beginnings – is stuffed full of pepperoni, salami, prosciuttini, and provolone – made the Blimpie way. What else could you possibly want?
There’s no denying this is an indulgent sub. At 1100 calories and 53g of protein for a large, you’ll know you’re getting your fill.
The regular has 550 calories and 23g of protein. Aside from the traditional Blimpie sub, the Hoboken Hero is about as “original” as you can get from this restaurant, and a must-try if you’re on the fence about what to order.
Roast Beef & Provolone
It’s hard to find good roast beef, and it’s often an afterthought on the menus of many sub shops.
But, you won’t find any subpar selections here. Blimpie’s roast beef used on their Roast Beef & Provolone sub is tender, juicy, and filling.
The sandwich comes complete with thinly sliced, top-round roast beef, and provolone made the Blimpie Way.
If it’s been a while since you ordered a roast beef sub, let this be the one that brings you back!
The large contains 920 calories, and the regular has 460. The large maxes out the protein levels at 63 grams, and the regular contains 32 grams.
The Blimp
The Blimp Sub has everything you could want in a sandwich – and I mean EVERYTHING! You won’t believe all of this goodness can fit into one tasty sandwich.
I love biting into this sub. It feels like a challenge – a very delicious one, at that.
Get ready for this – the Blimp Sub manages to hold turkey, roast beef, prosciuttini, salami, pepperoni, provolone, sweet peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onion, mayo, vinegar, oil, and oregano! That’s a lot for one sandwich!
Did I mention the calories and protein can get even higher? This is an awesome choice if you need something tasty to fill you up quickly!
The large has 1610 calories and 76g of protein. The regular has 820 calories and 38g of protein. It’s not a sandwich for the faint of heart.
But, if you want to try something new or you’re just extremely hungry, The Blimp won’t let you down.
Turkey & Provolone
If you’re not a ham person, this other classic is for you. The Turkey & Provolone is also nostalgic, classic, and simple.
The sub comes complete with oven-roasted turkey and provolone made the Blimpie Way. I have to say, the oven-roasted turkey is some of the best you’ll find at sub chains.
A lighter but still incredibly filling option, the large Turkey & Provolone clocks in at 920 calories and 54g of protein.
The regular has 460 calories and 27g of protein. This is a great option for kids and adults alike, taking something seemingly simple and raising the flavor profile by using high-quality ingredients.
Turkey Cranberry
If you’re a turkey lover and you want to get adventurous, you must try the Turkey Cranberry sub from Blimpie.
If the Turkey & Cheese just doesn’t seem like enough for you, this classic flavor combination will satisfy every craving.
The Turkey Cranberry comes with a special combination of ingredients.
You’ll love the oven-roasted turkey, whipped cream cheese, lettuce, and crushed cranberry that they pile onto this sub. Every bite feels like Thanksgiving!
Veggie and Cheese
You may think a simple Veggie and Cheese sub is only for the vegetarians in the crowd, but think again!
While it certainly is a lighter option, it is not at all lacking in flavor.
What the Veggie and Cheese is missing in meat, it makes up for in toppings and cheeses ten times over!
It comes piled high with American and provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, banana peppers, roasted red peppers, vinegar, oil, and oregano.
The large veggie option only has 890 calories and a surprising 40g of protein! The regular comes with 450 calories and 20g of protein.
Hot Pastrami
The Hot Pastrami Panini comes on the coolest, most interesting pretzel bun instead of a traditional sub bun.
The bread is quite thin and crisp like that of a panini but has the flavor of a pretzel, and it pairs perfectly with the meat and cheese used in this sandwich.
This fantastic sub is made with thinly sliced smoked pastrami, swiss, and spicy mustard.
This is my favorite to customize, though, because it goes great with almost every topping you can think of.
Sugar Cookie
Maybe you’re not a chocolate chunk kind of person at all, and that’s okay! In that case, you’re sure to love the Blimpie Sugar Cookie.
There are options for frosted sugar cookies, but I have to say, the plain sugar option is the best.
It’s an absolute classic and hits the spot every time.
You’ll never be disappointed in its simplicity and nostalgia, and if you’re looking for a simply sweet way to end your meal, this will quickly become your favorite.
