The Sweetgreen Restaurant Chain

Sweetgreen is a well-known restaurant that has revolutionized the way we think about and eat salads extends an invitation for you to go on an extraordinary culinary adventure. Their emphasis on flavor and dedication to using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients have resulted in a menu that is a delightful change from the norm. Salads are generally thought of as a bland but healthful option, but this restaurant has taken them to a whole new level. Beyond the basics, their menu offers a variety of creative and delicious combinations. We’ll dig into the menu items that have made this restaurant a favorite among health-conscious foodies, from filling grain bowls to house salads full of vibrant and healthy ingredients.

The Chicken Pesto Parm Bowl is about thirteen dollars and is 525 calories. The base of the bowl is baby spinach and quinoa. The bowl has a myriad of toppings, including tomatoes, spicy broccoli, roasted chicken, shaved parmesan, hot sauce, and pesto vinaigrette.  The hot sauce and the pesto vinaigrette can be on the side or tossed in the salad. The Chicken Pesto Parm Bowl is an easy option to order since it is a menu staple, but it can also be customized if you prefer to remove or exchange some of the ingredients.

The Kale Caesar Salad is one of the most popular menu items. It is perfect for those who are new to the restaurant because it offers a familiar taste with the distinct Sweetgreen flair. I always enjoy a well-made Caesar salad!  The Kale Caesar Salad is only 405 calories and is about thirteen dollars. The salad has a romaine and kale base and is topped with tomatoes, roasted chicken, shaved parmesan, parmesan crisps, Caesar dressing, and freshly squeezed lime juice. If you prefer a vegetarian salad, you can remove the chicken or substitute it for roasted sweet potatoes or chickpeas.

The Harvest Bowl is exactly as advertised–it is a perfect fall dish that encapsulates the taste of the harvest season. The Harvest Bowl is a bed of warm wild rice and shredded kale topped with roasted chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, roasted almonds, and a balsamic vinaigrette. The Harvest Bowl is 685 calories and includes 36 grams of protein. It is one of my favorite meals at Sweetgreen because it is filling and tasty. The Harvest Bowl is one of the warm bowl selections on the menu, so it is ideal for a fall or winter day when paired with the root vegetables.

Guacamole Greens Salad

The Guacamole Greens Salad is described as an “Earth Friendly Pick” by Sweetgreen. The salad includes a bed of spring mix and romaine with many toppings like tomatoes, onion, tortilla chips, cabbage, avocado, roasted chicken, and a lime-cilantro jalapeno dressing. The lime-cilantro jalapeno dressing is one of my favorites and one of the most popular dressings on the menu.  The Guacamole Greens salad is 515 calories and is priced at a very affordable twelve dollars. The salad is a perfect summer lunch that is light yet filling. I enjoy the Guacamole Greens salad on warm days on either Sweetgreen’s outdoor patio or at a picnic in a local park. 


Fish Taco Bowl

A fish taco is a regional favorite along the West Coast, and the Fish Taco Bowl perfectly encapsulates that flavor. The Fish Taco bowl is 555 calories and is about fourteen dollars. However, the portion of the dish included with the bowl is sizable, making this menu item well worth its price. When I visit Sweetgreen, the Fish Taco Bowl is one of my go-to orders! It is a perfect meal during any season. The bowl is filled with warm quinoa, arugula, roasted steelhead trout, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, hot sauce and finished with a lime-cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. 


Hummus Tahina Salad

The Hummus Tahina Salad is an excellent vegetarian option at Sweetgreen. The salad has a foundation of shredded kale and chopped romaine. It is topped with herb falafel, hummus, tomato, red onion, cucumber, feta cheese, za’atar breadcrumbs, and finally tossed in a cucumber tahini yogurt dressing.  Many people advocate the benefits of including items from a Mediterranean diet in more daily meals, and this salad is a great way to accomplish that goal. At only 120 calories and about ten dollars, it is perfect for those counting their calories or watching their pocketbooks! You can always add roasted chicken to the salad for added calories or protein. 


Portobello Taco Bowl

The Portobello Taco Bowl is another popular Sweetgreen item. A seasonal menu item at Sweetgreen, the Portobello Taco Bowl is filled with spinach, wild rice, portobello mushrooms, shredded cabbage, roasted sweet potatoes, feta cheese, tortilla chips, and dressed in a lime-cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. When I visit the restaurant, I enjoy adding portobellos to my bowls.  I enjoy the Portobello Taco Bowl because it is filled with tasty root vegetables and mushrooms. The crunchiness of the tortilla chips in the taco bowl adds a tasty dimension to the warm bowl. Available during the winter months, the spicy vinaigrette will keep you warm. The taco bowl is one of my favorite seasonal items offered by Sweetgreen!

One of the most fun aspects of visiting Sweetgreen is the ability to create your own salad or bowl! Begin your personalization by choosing a base of items like romaine lettuce, shredded kale, warm rice, or a greens and grains combination. When I visit Sweetgreen, I also like to customize my meal based on what taste preferences I have that day.  Then, begin adding toppings like basil, raw beets, spicy broccoli, or toasted almonds. Some premium additions include goat cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and avocado. Finish your custom creation by adding a dressing like a green goddess, miso sesame ginger, or spicy cashew dressing. With Sweetgreen’s vast menu options, the customizable possibilities are endless!
