The Best Food on the Smashburger Menu

Try the most popular Smashburger items, from burgers to sides and more

Smashburger is a fast-casual hamburger restaurant chain founded in Denver, Colorado. Rick Schaden and Tom Ryan founded Smashburger in 2007. As of February 2018, the restaurant had expanded to more than 370 corporate locations in 37 states across nine countries.

Hamburger Meal With Fried Pickles

The restaurant’s name stems from how the hamburgers are prepared. The kitchen “smashes” the burger on a flat top grill set at a high temperature, creating a thin hamburger patty. The menu also includes chicken, turkey, and portobello mushroom sandwiches.

The smashed burger is the star of the show at Smashburger, but many other menu items are tasty. From deluxe burgers with creative toppings to healthier options like salads to sweet treats like milkshakes, the restaurant offers some menu items for every guest.

BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger

The BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger is one of the most popular signature burgers at Smashburger.

Notably, the burger patty is made from grass-fed Certified Angus Beef. You can choose a single or a double when ordering, meaning one or two hamburger patties.

It is a tasty signature burger with classic barbecue flavors; the BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger is perfect for a big appetite.

The BBQ, Bacon & Cheddar Burger is loaded with aged cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, haystack onions, and bbq sauce.

The burger is about 750 calories and thirty-six grams of protein. Try it with a side of fries, sweet potato fries, or potato tots!

Classic Smashburger

The Classic Smashburger has American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles, and Smash Sauce.

Smashburger can prepare it as either a single or a double. What’s great about this burger is that it has the signature Smash Sauce on it, which is the restaurant’s secret and addicting condiment.

If you are visiting Smashburger for the first time, I recommend ordering the Classic Smashburger!

The burger has about 640 calories and thirty grams of protein. It is great for anyone in the family; even kids will enjoy this elevated classic!

The Classic Smashburger remains one of the most popular menu items for its traditional flavors and tasty sauce.

Classic Cobb Salad

The Classic Cobb Salad at Smashburger is a great alternative to ordering a hamburger.

The salad includes mixed greens, bleu cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, red onions, and a fried egg! The salad is dressed in ranch.

One of my favorite salads is the classic Cobb, known for its usual hard-boiled egg, but Smashburger has once again taken creativity to a whole new level by adding a fried egg!

When I order this salad at Smashburger, I ask for a side of Smash Sauce–it is excellent as an extra bit of sauce for the salad!

Haystack Onions

The Haystack Onions at Smashburger are a signature creative addition to many dishes.

The Haystack onions are crispy, fried onion straws served with ranch dressing and can be ordered as a side dish. The fried onions are also on the BBQ Bacon & Cheddar Smashburger and the BBQ Ranch salad.

I enjoy the extra crispy texture of the onions both on their own and in other dishes at the restaurant. The onions are tasty dipped in ranch dressing, but also try them dipped in ketchup or barbecue sauce.

Your plate is never too full to add a side of Haystack Onions!

SmashFries

SmashFries are the classic fries with a bit of extra spice.

The SmashFries are about 420 calories. The crispy french fries are tossed in rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. The thin and golden potatoes are the perfect complement to a Smashburger.

The original French fries are great, but the SmashFries take it to another level.

The SmashFries are deliciously addicting. The rosemary and garlic flavors soak into the perfectly prepared fries and create a unique flavor that is rare to find in a fast-casual eatery.

Smashburger has knocked it out of the park with this tasty side dish!

Avocado Club Burger

The Avocado Club Burger is a signature hamburger with certified Angus beef, sliced avocado, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch, and mayonnaise on a toasted multigrain bun.

One of my favorite menu items is the Avocado Club Burger because it is a fresh-tasting option on the menu due to its West Coast flair.

The signature burger is 670 calories and contains about thirty grams of protein. The Avocado Club Burger tastes fresh, and the tomatoes and avocados provide an additional layer of flavor and complement the beef hamburger patty.

The burger pairs well with Smashburger’s sweet potato fries.

French Fries

Smashburger French Fries are the perfect addition to any Smashburger.

The fries are thin, golden, and perfectly salted. The side dish is a classic pairing with a burger and makes for an All-American meal. SmashFries are especially kid-friendly and are perfect for dipping in ranch, ketchup, or SmashSauce!

One of my favorite things is to order hot and salty fries and enjoy them with a tasty chocolate milkshake! The classic hot and cold combination is a quick return to childhood.

At only 370 calories, the SmashFries are a great snack when you are in a rush that will not crash your diet.

Spicy Jalapeno Baja Burger

The Spicy Jalapeno Baja Burger is a culinary fiesta!

The burger includes one or two certified Angus beef patties with pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and chipotle mayonnaise, and served on a warmed chipotle bun.

The burger is about 670 calories and thirty grams of protein.

For those who enjoy high spicy levels, this is the signature Smashburger for you! The chipotle and the pepper jack cheese combination creates a spicy bite.

On the other hand, the guacamole offers momentary cooling relief that perfectly complements the other spicy components. It is one of the best signature burgers on the menu.

Truffle Mushroom & Swiss Burger

The Truffle Mushroom & Swiss Burger contains either one or two certified Angus beef patties with aged Swiss cheese, sauteed crimini mushrooms, and truffle mayonnaise on a toasted bun.

The combination of mushroom and swiss cheese is a classic flavor profile that many restaurants add to their burgers.

The key ingredient in this awesome signature burger is the truffle. Truffles have a slightly garlicky flavor, and the taste is often compared to shallots; truffles are traditionally a gourmet addition.

I enjoy the savory flavors of the Truffle Mushroom & Swiss Burger and like to enjoy the burger with SmashFries.

Spicy Veggie Black Bean Burger

Try the Spicy Veggie Black Bean Burger if you enjoy a meatless diet.

The black bean patties are thin, like all-beef patties, and are incredibly flavorful. What’s great is that vegetarians can enjoy the same great flavors and experience a fun and classic dining experience at Smashburger.

The Spicy Veggie Black Bean Burger includes a black bean patty topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and chipotle mayonnaise served on a toasted spicy chipotle bun.

I really enjoy the texture and flavor of the black bean patty!

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries are a great addition to any burger or salad selection.

Sweet potato fries are usually a bit softer than traditional fries. While the sweet potato fries are a little higher in calories and carbohydrates than the French fries, the sweet potato option is high in vitamin A, which gives this option a nutritional advantage.

I enjoy dipping my sweet potato fries in SmashSauce! The fries are also great with the spicier burgers on the menu since the sweet potato complements higher spice levels.

Additionally, the sweet potato fries are a great snack for after school or for an afternoon snack.

Baja Cobb Salad

Once again, Smashburger has developed a tasty salad option!

The Baja Cobb Salad includes a bed of fresh greens, topped with applewood smoked bacon, sliced jalapenos, guacamole, cheddar, tomatoes, and onions, and dressed with spicy chipotle dressing.

When I tried the Baja Cobb Salad, I added grilled chicken for a bit more protein. The salad’s size is quite large, which makes it a filling and tasty option for lunch or dinner.

Without the addition of a protein, the Baja Cobb Salad is about 200 calories. It is a tasty option for people looking to order something other than a cheeseburger.

Bacon Cheeseburger

The Bacon Smashburger is a classic American meal perfected.

The bacon cheeseburger includes one or two certified Angus beef, with American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise on a toasted bun.

The combination of fresh and juicy tomatoes with thick yet crispy bacon makes this one of my favorite bites on the Smashburger menu. Pair the bacon cheeseburger with onion haystacks or SmashTots for a great meal!

A bacon cheeseburger is a terrific option for those who might be visiting Smashburger for the first time. It is a great kid-friendly option, too, with lots of comforting flavors and tastes.

Harvest Salad

The  Harvest Chicken Smash Salad is one of Smashburger’s newest additions.

The salad is a bed of mixed greens, which is topped with strips of crispy or grilled chicken, marinated balsamic tomatoes, raisins, cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, blue cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette.

Notably, the salad can be made vegetarian by asking the kitchen to exchange the chicken for a black bean burger patty. The Harvest Salad is a delicious fall and winter salad with lots of typically seasonal ingredients, like cranberries and pumpkin seeds.

The Harvest Salad is one of the best options on the Smashburger menu, especially for those items that are not cheeseburgers.

Milkshakes

Nothing is better than finishing your meal with a sweet treat!

A Smashburger milkshake is a fun and delicious dessert or special treat. Milkshake flavors include mocha coffee, salted caramel coffee, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, Oreo, peanut butter, and salted caramel.

My favorite flavor is strawberry because it reminds me of enjoying a milkshake on a hot summer day as a child. The Smashburger shakes are perfectly blended to be a thick consistency with lots of flavor.

From the classic vanilla to the creative mocha coffee milkshake, the flavors and the mouthfeel are perfect. Enjoy one of these shakes alongside a Smashburger and SmashFries!

  1. You obviously don’t live in Colorado so you can’t get the burger. Trust me when I tell you the Colorado burger with haystack onions. Sooo amazeballs.
