Thus, Pizza Hut has had time to create various pizza styles and offerings. And given the array of options, there might be some debate regarding which toppings to get on your pizza.
But beyond numerous savory, sweet, and spicy toppings, there are also several different crust types at Pizza Hut that you can try to level up your pizza night.
You might realize that you want a thicker, thinner, or stretchier crust topped with an additional glaze, stuffed with an unexpected ingredient, or wildly unique.
Pizza Hut Crusts
In this article, I’ll discuss the 13 different Pizza Hut crust types so you can switch from the standard and try something new – even if you want to stick to your favorite toppings!
Original Pan Crust
Pizza Hut’s Original Pan Crust is the standard option.
If you have never once thought about which crust you should get, you have likely only eaten the original pan crust unless you ordered a particular specialty pizza.
There is nothing wrong with the Original Pan Crust, which is made by pressing pizza crust into the pan or skillet.
The crust’s color is an inviting golden-brown, and its texture is enjoyable because it’s crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Pan crust can technically be thin or thick, but Pizza Hut’s Original Pan Crust is a medium thickness that sturdily holds plenty of toppings without overdoing it on the bread to ingredients ratio.
Hand-Tossed Crust is Original Crust’s fancy cousin.
There’s nothing different about the crust’s ingredients but about how it is prepared pre-baking.
While Original Crust takes shape by being molded with the pan’s shape it’s baked in, Hand-Tossed Crust is kneaded to a softer form before taking flight as the baker tosses it in the air several times, thus taking shape that way instead.
Hand-tossed pizza is usually thinner but not as thin as thin-crust pizzas and is typically lighter and airier than Pan Crust pizza.
Most of Pizza Hut’s standard pizza toppings are gluten-free, but most of their pizza crust options are not.
Fortunately for those with Celiac disease, people with gluten sensitivities, or those who simply prefer a gluten-free diet, Pizza Hut offers a Gluten-Free Crust.
This crust includes tapioca starch, brown rice flour, canola oil, and egg whites, among other ingredients.
Plus, Pizza Hut promises to use a separate pizza cutter for pizzas made with Gluten-Free Crust so that there is no cross-contamination.
However, this crust is only offered in about a third of Pizza Hut restaurants Nationwide, so you’ll have to look up your location when ordering to see if it’s available near you.
Cheesy Bites Crust
Cheesy Bites Crust is a unique, creative, and scrumptious crust option offered at Pizza Hut.
Instead of filling the original crust with cheese, which in itself is delightful, these Cheesy Bites are cheese-stuffed crust nuggets that are already separated into “bite-sized” pieces.
That way, it’s easy to simply pull them off the pizza and enjoy them one by one.
The other fantastic aspect of cheesy bites crust is that they come with marinara dipping sauce, so you can essentially have a mini pizza (bread, cheese, sauce) as you’re eating your main pizza because there’s no such thing as too much pizza!
If bite-sized cheese pieces seem like a bit much for you, but you’d still appreciate having extra real cheese stuffed into your crust, you’ll appreciate Pizza Hut’s Stuffed Crust Pizza.
They use melted mozzarella cheese baked directly into the crusts so that the pizza is essentially extended to the very ends of the pie.
Plus, you can dip the crust into marinara sauce for even more flavor.
Ultimately, the Stuffed Crust transforms your pizza crust into a large, tasty mozzarella cheese stick. And best of all, you can add any toppings you want to your Stuffed Crust Pizza.
However, I prefer the cheese bites crust over the stuffed crust, simply because they are more accessible and fun to eat, and visually exciting!
Thin & Crispy Crust
Pizza Hut’s Thin & Crispy Crust are for New York-style pizza lovers that want their pizza to have just enough crust to hold their delicious toppings and nothing more.
Thin crust pizzas allow your toppings to take center stage, with the ingredients extending almost all the way to the end of the pizza instead of a sizable chunk of bread wrapping around, which is a “waste” in some people’s eyes.
This crust is optimal for those who prefer a crunchier bottom to their pizza than a softer one, almost as if they are eating their sauce, cheese, and toppings on an edible, crispy plate.
Hot Dog Stuffed Crust
It’s only fair that meat-lovers can find another way to squeeze in some more juicy protein into their pizza if there’s no more room on the top!
The Hot Dog Stuffed Crust looks a little strange at first, but it essentially reminds me of a thin corn dog.
You can ask for marinara to dip your hot-dog bites into, but they are mainly meant to be dipped into a mustard drizzle.
I usually ask for both, along with Pizza Hut’s garlic dipping sauce, because I appreciate the variety. If this isn’t on the menu, it might be on Pizza Hut’s secret menu, so ask anyway!
Cone Crust Series
The Cone Crust Series is perhaps the most unique and most controversial of Pizza Hut’s crusts.
Instead of a standard crust, it includes parmesan-crusted dough shaped like cones and stuffed with either Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Honey Mustard Chicken, or Chicken and Cheese.
They are all a bit absurd to eat alongside a pizza when it comes to flavor profiles.
Thus, I immediately separated them for the pizza and considered them an entirely separate meal!
Whether you want to try this out because you genuinely think it’d be delicious or are simply intrigued, you’ll have to go to one of Pizza Hut’s Middle East locations to give it a try.
Hand Stretched Crust
Pizza Hut’s Hand Stretched Crust is similar to their Hand Tossed Crust, but it is slightly thinner and includes one of four optional glazes.
You can choose between Honey Crunch, Toasted Cheddar, Toasted Parmesan, and Garlic Parmesan Butter.
They all sound delicious, right? Well, they are, but the Garlic Parmesan Butter is my personal favorite. My advice is to go ahead and try them all!
Shrimp Cheese Bite Crust
The Shrimp Cheese Bite Crust is one of the best Pizza Hut crust types for seafood fanatics.
The Shrimp Cheese Bite Crust is similar to the Cheese Bite Crust and the Hot Dog Bite Crust mentioned above in that it consists of pre-cut, bite-sized nuggets that circle the pizza in place of a traditional crust
However, instead of hot dogs and cheese alone, these bites have both cheese and shrimp inside!
This crust has been an option for Pizza Huts in Japan and South Korea, where the seafood is particularly popular.
Hot Dog Bites Crust
If Pizza Hut can have a bite-sized cheese-stuffed crust, why not a bite-sized hot dog-stuffed crust?
Just as there is cheese-stuffed crust and cheese bites crust, there is hot dog-stuffed crust (mentioned above) and hot dog bites crust.
And just as you’re supposed to dip the hot dog crust into mustard, you can dip your hot dog bites crust into mustard as well.
The only difference is that the stuffed crust has the hot dog running through the crust without “breaks,” while the bites are already separated into bite-sized chunks.
Finally, just as I prefer the cheese bites over the stuffed cheese crust, I also like the hot dog bites crust over the stuffed hot dog crust.
Flying Fish Roe Salmon Cream Cheese Crust
Another seafood crust created for seafood-loving Japan, plus Hong Kong, is the Flying Fish Roe Salmon Cream Cheese Crust.
Everyone knows that salmon and cream cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly, but it was shocking to see the pair stuffed together inside a pizza crust.
If you’re getting a seafood pizza, such as with a shrimp topping, I would recommend this crust. Otherwise, it’s a bit odd and incompatible with pizza, in my opinion.
Crown Crust Carnival
Last but not the least unconventional is Pizza Hut’s Crown Crust Carnival, available first in the Middle East, then eventually showing up briefly in Canada and the U.S.
This is one of the best Pizza Hut crust types for adventurous, experiential eaters.
The idea behind this crust is “royalty,” as instead of basic-shaped “nuggets” that some of the other creative crusts had, these bites are shaped like royal “crowns.”
There are also different versions of this pizza style: a Cheeseburger pizza with beef-filled pockets; a Cream Cheese & Meatball version with alternating cream cheese and meatball stuffed pockets; and a Chicken Filet pizza with chicken nuggets stuffed in the crust.
