Burger King is one of the most classic U.S. dining establishments out there – its greasy deliciousness combined with low prices and a fearless exploration of the frontiers of food are almost universally beloved in the states.

Even though they are likely best known for their Whoppers, hefty flame-grilled burgers filled with juicy goodness, they also have an incredible value menu lineup that features a borderline unconscionable amount of tastiness at shockingly low prices.

That’s especially true for their widely adored special Burger King Dollar Menu items, like their chicken sandwiches and refreshing ice cream.

Burger King Value Menu Items

Since Burger King offers so much choice at such excellent prices, it can be tough to decide what to get when you are standing at the counter or sitting in the drive through.

That’s why we have prepared this guide – it’s an overview of all our favorite high-value and low-cost items Burger King has to offer.

Bacon Cheeseburger

The Bacon Cheeseburger is one of Burger King’s best-known offerings – it combines their widely-beloved flame-grilled beef with deliciously salty smoked bacon, gloriously melty American cheese, refreshingly juicy pickles (crinkle cut, of course!), mustard, ketchup, and a warm, toasted bun topped with sesame seeds.

This is one of my personal favorites of Burger King’s lineup – there’s something about the combination of bacon, cheese, and beef that lights up my taste buds and makes the rest of my day seem suddenly wondrous.

Coming in at 340 calories and packed with 18 grams of protein, this item also brings excellent value to the table.

You do want to be careful with its sodium content though – with around 950mg of sodium, it’s about 40% of your recommended daily intake.

French Fries

It’s tough to find a fast food chain in the United States that does not offer French Fries, but it’s equally tough to find one that offers better fries than Burger King’s – in my view, anyway.

What sets BK’s fries apart is their thickness.

At three eighths of an inch, they focus on placing the flavor of the fried potato in the spotlight, with all other salt and flavorings playing a supportive role rather than taking center stage.

That said, even though I love them deeply, they aren’t one of the healthiest options on the menu there. A large fry contains 604 calories and just over 1000mg sodium, which is nearly half of the recommended daily value of 2300mg.

Cheeseburger

It doesn’t get more classic than this.

The first burger I ever remember eating (on the way back from the pool with some family friends) was one of these delicious Burger King Cheeseburgers, and I have loved them ever since.

These burgers are distinguished from the general fast food landscape by BK’s unique flame grilling process, which lends all their burgers a clear smokey, juicy flavor.

Plus, every cheeseburger comes by default with crinkle cut pickles that haven’t been twisted from their delicious state by unnecessary additives and unnatural artificial flavoring.

Burger King also prides itself on the lack of additives in their burgers writ-large – they make patties without fillers, preservatives, additives, or any such nonsense.

Crispy Chicken Jr.

When the Chicken Sandwich Wars ignited in 2019, Burger King looked at its chicken sandwich offerings and realized they had to make some changes.

The Crispy Chicken Jr. sandwich is one of the many beneficiaries to this most recent recipe update, and I couldn’t be more delighted with how it has turned out.

The juiciness of the meat combined with the freshness of the veggies and the incredible texture of the chicken’s breading won me over fully amid the inter-fast food conflict of the past couple years.

As a plus, this is one of BK’s less sodium-intensive items, at 700mg sodium or 30% of the daily recommended value.

Spicy Chicken Jr.

I still remember the first time I had a Burger King Spicy Chicken Jr. sandwich.

It was 6 years ago, and to this day I’m not sure if I’ve found another fast food spicy chicken sandwich that I enjoy more.

It’s the spicy variant of the Crispy Chicken Jr. sandwich, adding a creamy hot sauce into the mix that accentuates the other flavors present within.

I love this product so much because the sauce is at the perfect spice level for me – just hot enough to make the chicken much more interesting, but not quite hot enough to make me feel like I need a glass of milk afterwards. I can’t recommend it enough!

Soft Drink

The soft drink is one of the most important parts of any fast food meal.

How can you enjoy the wondrous, greasy goodness oof a burger and the mouth-wateringly salty taste of the fries without the cool, fizzy sweetness of a tall cup of soda?

There are few joys so substantial in life as feeling the overwhelming tastiness of a Burger King sandwich in your mouth, grabbing the condensation-covered paper soda cup, and washing it down with a refreshingly cold stream of Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Barq’s, or whatever soda flavor you prefer from their wide array of offerings.

$5 Your Way Meal

There’s nothing better than a cheap fast-food meal, and while many restaurants are raising prices, Burger King has recently unleashed a new level of value upon its customers.

The $5 Your Way Meal features a massive amount of food for the price point, including a Double Whopper Jr., four chicken nuggets, an order of small fries, and a small drink.

Evidently, the meal does cost $6 at some locations, depending on the price levels in the area. Either way, it’s an incredible amount of value for the food you’re receiving!

The meal is also only available at certain participating restaurants, so go out and get it while it’s here!

4 Piece Chicken Nuggets

One of the biggest value contributors to the above-mentioned meal deal is the 4 Piece Chicken Nuggets – crispy on the exterior, deliciously savory and tender on the interior, these are a must-order from the fast food establishment.

I especially love eating these with the unique Burger King Zesty sauce, a delightful combination of cayenne, horseradish, lemon, and creamy goodness.

They also offer five other wonderful dipping sauces – Honey Mustard, Sweet & Sour, Ranch, Buffalo, and BBQ.

Double Cheeseburger

Take the Cheeseburger, add another patty, and you get the Double Cheeseburger.

But the addition of another patty transforms the dish into a whole new experience, packed with more protein and a bigger patty-to-bun ratio.

That latter aspect is especially significant for me – as much as I love the classic Burger King Cheeseburger, I typically feel like I’m tasting too much bun and not enough patty when I eat it.

The Double Cheeseburger resolves this, and that makes it one of my favorite items,

Bacon Double Cheeseburger

The Bacon Double Cheeseburger is my favorite item on this entire list.

Don’t get me wrong, I love all the others, but bringing bacon into the already-excellent taste of the Double Cheeseburger adds a whole new level of salty goodness to the flavor profile.

It’s my go-to order at Burger King, and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten one that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy.

It is important to note that this is one of the higher-sodium items the store offers, coming in at just under 1400mg sodium, or approximately 60% of the daily recommended value.

Onion Rings

Unlike many other fast food restaurants in its class, Burger King offers onion rings – and that’s one of my favorite things about the brand.

This deep-fried delicacy is my go-to side whenever I go to the restaurant. Not only do they contain fewer calories than the french fries, but they’re also just some of the tastiest onion rings available, especially at this price point.

These are controversial among onion ring lovers, but I stand firmly on Burger King’s side in the discourse.

Most onion rings are made of actual slices of onion that have been deep fried, leaving a clear distinction between the onion within and the coating on the outside, but the Burger King variety does not follow that recipe.

Instead, theirs has a consistent texture all throughout, which eliminates the common onion ring problem of accidentally pulling out the whole interior onion in the first bite. That’s why I love the Burger King onion ring – they weren’t afraid to innovate a classic recipe, and it has paid off big-time.

Soft Serve

Perhaps strangely, this is one of the lowest-calorie items on our list here, coming in with just under 200 calories per serving.

But fortunately that doesn’t leave the Burger King Soft Serve ice cream cone with a lower quality of taste – indeed, it is one of the richest, creamiest, and most flavorful fast food ice creams on the scene.

It’s a perfectly refreshing treat, with a deliciously sweet and gently invigorating taste that doesn’t feel too heavy (which is good, especially if you’re eating it while digesting a Texas Double Whopper or another one of the store’s heftier offerings).
