You’ll find the charming and diverse city of Chattanooga in Hamilton County, Tennessee, along the River Tennessee, bordering Georgia. The western end of the city also extends to Marion County.

You can also have walking and biking tours and enjoy superb food, wine, and nightlife in this beautiful city. 

One of my favorite activities is eating in one of the riverwalk restaurants overlooking River Tennessee.

The Rodizio Grill Downtown Chattanooga is in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga just a few minutes from Children’s Museum, the Aquarium, Bluff View Art District, and Chattanooga Choo Choo. It’s my favorite steakhouse in the city, offering Brazilian steak and Spanish and Latin cuisines. 

If you’re looking to impress your significant other in a private setting, Rodizio Grill is the place for you. Last year I was here for Valentine’s Day, and they had a special offer for every couple from 11th to the 14th. 

The food here is delicious and the service top-notch. Rodizio Grill is undoubtedly an authentic Brazilian steakhouse. It’s the best spot for meat lovers.


Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurant, conveniently located at the Embassy Suites Chattanooga, right off Interstate 75, is an upscale steakhouse where you get to enjoy American cuisines. They also offer special diets, including gluten-free, vegetarian-friendly, and vegan options.

I was looking for a sophisticated setting for my engagement party, and when I checked out Ruth’s Chris Steak House, I settled for it immediately. They offer various private dining options depending on your specific event or party. 

The atmosphere here is pleasant, and their meals are award-winning. I really enjoyed their fillet, which was bursting with flavor. The chef had cooked it to perfection, and the garlic mash was so creamy. It’s the best I’ve ever had.

St. John’s Restaurant, situated in the former St. John’s Hotel building, Market Street, Chattanooga, offers some of the best American cuisines in the city. I had dinner here with my family in a private dining room. 

We had fun and a great family time together, free from any disturbance. In fact, I would recommend this restaurant for all your private occasions. There’s plenty of space for a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner.

The food here is delicious. We started with an appetizer and cocktail, and both were awesome. For the main entrée, we had fresh gulf snapper. It was perfect. 

Anytime I visit a coastal city, I prefer ordering seafood, and at St. John’s Restaurant Chattanooga, it was no different. Food and wine are good here, but the intimate evenings you’ll enjoy here make it an incredible experience


Alleia

Alleia’s private dining experience comes second to no other place, no matter the event. It’s in Chattanooga’s Southside neighborhood, in the old Harrington building. 

Chef Daniel Lindley opened the restaurant in April 2009 and has been offering simple Italian-inspired cuisines that incorporate regional flavor from local farms. 

I found it remarkable that they can arrange their porch and Renaissance Room for any event. I once held a work holiday party in their indoor Renaissance Room. My personal favorite any time I visit Alleia is venison and quail dishes. 

My wife likes to start with arancini and bacon-wrapped dates, which I came to like. The drinks here are superb, and the waiters give fantastic service. 


Public House Restaurant

You’ll find the Public House Restaurant along Market Street in Chattanooga. Its founder, Nathan Lindley, is a well-known restaurateur who ensures the restaurant offers a cozy gathering place that’s ideal for family reunions, corporate parties, and much more. 

All American cuisines are available here. During my stay in Chattanooga, I had my last dinner with my family in this spot. I couldn’t get enough of their fried chicken while my other half had a burger.

The desserts were just perfect. Just don’t leave without trying their fine wine. If you need a private dining venue, look no further. Public House Restaurant offers professional private dining and event services in their casually elegant dining room. 


J. Alexander’s

J. Alexander is an American restaurant in Hamilton, Chattanooga, neighboring Twin Brook Community Club and Hickory Valley-Hamilton Place. The restaurant is well known for its classic American cuisines, especially wood-fired cuisine. 

Some of the in-house chef-prepared dishes you can enjoy here include prime rib of beef, sandwiches, steaks, entrée salads, sandwiches, fresh seafood, among other American classics.

The restaurant also offers private dining areas where you can have a great time with your intimate friends.

After Grilled Fish with Mango Papaya Salsa, I had a bottle of fine American wine, which made my intimate evening with my wife memorable. 

This place is perfect for a graduation dinner, wedding reception, cocktail party, or any other special event.


Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar

You’ll find the Boathouse in the heart of Chattanooga’s stylish Riverwalk directly on the Tennessee River. Upon reaching the Downtown Hotel district, you’re a mere 1.5 miles away from the restaurant.

It’s one of the busiest oyster bars in the city and countrywide. They also offer other American (traditional) cuisines and seafood, not forgetting the drinks in the bar.

I once dined here with my friends during one of my friend’s birthday parties, and everything was perfect. We had a private dining space to ourselves as we enjoyed the spectacular view of Tennessee River Vista. 

Some of us stayed inside our dining room while the rest relaxed on the outdoor covered patio. I recommend their grilled kitchen sandwiches and guacamole dishes. 


State of Confusion

State of Confusion is a restaurant situated in the heart of southside, Chattanooga. Here, the cuisines include American, Peruvian grill, fusion, and a bar.

The restaurant is open as early as 11 am, meaning you can have your breakfast here. They close as late as midnight on weekdays, allowing you sufficient time to enjoy your ice-cold beer together with family and friends.

Once you have your private dining space, I recommend house seafood paella. The menu is full of wood fire grills and other foods. Their Lomo Saltado is great too. You can also visit them over the weekend for their killer brunch. 

A private dining space is never enough, but ample time to be as intimate as possible with your loved one is. And on a Friday and Saturday night, you have all the time at State of Confusion as they close as late as 1 am.


Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is at the Hamilton Place Mall, Chattanooga. The restaurant is separate from the mall, and you can access the parking lot from Gunbarrel Road. 

It’s an American Restaurant and Steakhouse well-known for its scratch kitchen, inviting atmosphere, and bold flavors.

Their menu features numerous items, including fresh seafood, hand-cut, well-aged steaks prepared by Chef Mark Bush, select wines, and specialty crafted cocktails.

You can dine privately in your private dining room or on the patio. But the restaurant recommends you do so in advance.

They have a happy hour from 4 pm to 7 pm on weekdays, and 11 am to 5 pm on weekends when you can enjoy drink specials and bar bites in their FIREBAR and Patio. 

Anytime I visit Chattanooga, I prefer to take my wife to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill on Mondays. They have Wine Down Monday, where you enjoy half-price for some glasses and select bottles.

Company Restaurant, located along Market Street in downtown Chattanooga, is the perfect hideaway from the busy streets where you can have the most intimate space with your loved ones. The restaurant offers American cuisines with fresh vegetables coming from Chattanooga farms.

Company Restaurant is ideal for hosting private events and special occasions, including baby showers and rehearsal dinners. 

They offer you a perfect dining environment to enjoy delicious meals and cold drinks no matter the occasion.

The last time I was here, I treated myself to a turkey salad sandwich. To date, I still miss that thing. It was the best sandwich I have ever taken and would recommend it.

Meeting Place is another perfect private dining restaurant in Chattanooga located downtown, just along Market Street. 

The restaurant has been operational since 2004. Amazingly, anytime I visit the restaurant, I enjoy the same quality, hospitality, and attention to detail as the first time I was there in 2015. Their cuisines are American, and each small plate, large plate, or dessert they serve is award-winning.

Meeting Place takes privacy seriously. That’s why it’s perfect for any anniversary party, business meeting, or wedding rehearsal dinner. 

The first time I was here, I took peanut butter mouse as my dessert, roasted teres major steak, and braised cheek.

Man, this plate is delicious, and I always order the same every time I’m there. Of course, drinks are available in plenty, and their prices are pretty friendly.
