However, some of the best places to enjoy a drink after a long day taking in the city’s sights are local secrets hidden away on the city’s rooftops.
The rooftop bars in San Antonio are some of the most entertaining places in the city to spend an evening, whether you’re a newcomer to the area or simply in town for a visit.
Bar America

Located in South Town, Bar America is one of the area’s original and most beloved bars. They serve up an eclectic mix of drinks, from craft beer and classic cocktails to Micheladas.
The bar also has a great menu featuring bar food like tacos and hot wings to accompany your drink. Bar America is a particularly busy spot on game days.
The inside of the bar has an industrial vibe, with exposed brick walls and neon lights. However, if the weather is nice and you want to enjoy your drinks on the roof, the rooftop bar offers incredible views of San Antonio.
Paramour at The Phipps

Over in the Museum District sits Paramour, a truly stunning and inclusive rooftop bar with an incredible atmosphere.
Inside is an eclectic burst of bright color and patterns, with comfy couches and chairs scattered throughout and views of the city from every window.
Patrons of the Paramour who dine on the rooftop enjoy slightly more private dining arrangements while taking in amazing views of San Antonio’s Museum Reach and the River Walk.
The bar has over 1,300 spirits to choose from and a unique menu designed around the five stages of a successful relationship.
The bar is also a place for entertainment, with drag shows, Latin music performances, burlesque shows, and more available every week.
Sanchos Cantina & Cocina

Sanchos is San Antonio’s singular authentic Mexican Cantina and Cocina.
In addition to serving mouthwatering authentic Mexican food, like Pollo Tinga, Pollo Adobado tacos, and empanadas, Sanchos has a full bar, an on-site store, and is a place to enjoy live music on their rooftop bar.
During my visit to Sanchos Cantina & Cocina, I tried a couple of different cocktails that made an impression on me.
The Rita Rita is the bar’s award-winning frozen margarita made with blended avocado. I also recommend the Limon Tini, which is a refreshing mixture of Bacardi Limon, sweet ‘n sour, and orange juice.
Burnhouse

If a wild night of dancing and drinking is something you’re in the mood for, you should check out Burnhouse. The trendy rooftop bar has incredible views of the city where you can watch the sun go down.
They have an extensive array of cocktails, beer, and spirits by the glass or the bottle, as well as full bars both inside and out.
Burnhouse is known for its impressive rotation of DJs and its unforgettable theme nights. The patio space features cozy covered cabanas and umbrella-covered tables, so you’ll have a nice place to rest your dancing shoes.
They also sell cigars which patrons enjoy on the rooftop patio.
Ocho

Ocho is located inside Hotel Havana, a beautiful historical building overlooking the San Antonio River Walk.
The restaurant and bar are run by Chef Jesse Kuykendall, who creates incredible pan-Latin food alongside rum and tequila-based beverages.
The hotel bar also offers a Happy Hour Monday through Thursday with rotating drink specials. The space at Ocho is bright with natural light and decorated with cool blues and teals.
It’s the perfect place to enjoy a morning espresso, a boozy brunch with your best pals, or a delicious dinner with some lovely river views.
Sand Box

The Sand Box is a popular San Antonio rooftop sports bar located on the city’s northwest side.
They are a great late-night spot for guests who want to enjoy a tasty pizza, nachos, wings, or chicken on a stick and 30 draft beers.
After a few drinks on the roof, I recommend you head down to the main space where they have games like Skee-Ball and Jenga.

SILO Terrace Oyster Bar is a great place to enjoy some East Coast seafood in an elegant environment. They have a lovely covered outdoor rooftop space and a full bar that offers an incredible selection of wine.
This Dominion Ridge Oyster Bar is also known for its beautifully prepared dishes.
In addition to raw or fried oysters, popular dishes include the clam chowder made with sherry cream, blackened swordfish, or the buttery lobster ravioli.

I recommend San Antonio’s Topgolf sports bar to all of the golf enthusiasts I know. This 3-floor sports and entertainment bar features hundreds of TVs, an arcade with both new and retro games, and a full restaurant and bar.
This location also has a rooftop terrace with fire pits. Their drink menu is extensive, with a selection of season-specific cocktails, local craft beers, and everyone’s favorite classics like a Bloody Mary or an Old Fashioned.
Accompany your favorite drinks with a delicious Meatalian Flatbread or a spicy Fried Chicken Heat-wich before heading up to hit a round of golf balls.

This elegant and upscale dining establishment has operated since 1906 and offers guests stunning panoramic views of the city from its rooftop bar and restaurant.
The restaurant combines modern and classic architectural vibes with comfy furniture to lounge in as you enjoy meticulously prepared seafood.
They are open for lunch on the weekends, but you can grab a memorable dinner here daily starting at 3 pm.

The Moon’s Daughters is an indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge located on the 20th floor of a building overlooking the San Antonio River Walk.
Here guests can enjoy an array of colorful and meticulously crafted cocktails while enjoying some seriously gorgeous city views.
I was incredibly taken with the overall theme of this rooftop bar and enjoyed several cocktails and bites.
I recommend the Moon Over Morocco and The Ritual cocktails and the house-made Feta Burrata and the Crispy Meatballs.

Located inside San Antonio’s Tower of the Americas, Bar 601 offers the best-uninterrupted views of the city alongside great drinks and food.
They offer daily Happy Hour specials, with drinks ranging from beer and wine to more unique cocktails like their Lemon Drop Martini.
If you’re feeling peckish, I recommend trying their firecracker shrimp or the sliders. Reservations are recommended due to the popularity of this rooftop bar, although not required.
