Where to Eat Along the San Antonio Riverwalk

The San Antonio Riverwalk is one of the city’s most popular attractions. This beautiful, scenic route along the San Antonio River attracts millions of tourists each year, and for good reason.

There are tons of fun things to do on the river, including kayaking, enjoying a river cruise, or simply taking a walk around this historic city.

While there’s plenty to do along the San Antonio River, one of my favorite things to do is sit back and enjoy a delicious meal and a drink with a beautiful view of the river.

But beware, you don’t want to fall into a mediocre tourist trap!

There are plenty of riverwalk restaurants with outdoor seating that overlook the San Antonio river, but these are my top picks.

You won’t be disappointed checking out one of these San Antonio Riverwalk restaurants. Starting from the North and heading South, this is where to eat along the San Antonio Riverwalk.


Supper

Supper is an elevated farm-to-table restaurant along the San Antonio River, nestled in the historic Hotel Emma.

Chef John Brand incorporates traditional American flavors in a straightforward, but creative way. Supper is easily one of the top restaurants on the San Antonio Riverwalk, and it’s clear why!

If you’re looking for a nice dinner out on the Riverwalk, Supper should be your first choice.

This restaurant is open all-day, serving breakfast from 7am-11am, lunch from 11am-3pm, and dinner from 5pm-10pm.


Domingo Restaurante

Located under the Canopy by Hilton is a delicious restaurant, Domingo.

I stopped here the during the day of the Fiesta parade and was able to watch some of the floats come down the river!

It was pretty hot, but this restaurant also has an indoor space if you’re with family, friends, or colleagues who don’t want to sit outside.

But, I would highly recommend sitting outdoors for great views of the San Antonio Riverwalk.

I ordered guac and chips to start along with a few cocktails with my friends. Would definitely try out their craft cocktails, especially on a warm day.

Honestly, everything my group ordered was absolutely amazing. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on their menu!


Tre Trattoria

Tre Trattoria is another great San Antonio Riverwalk restaurant.

This trendy Italian eatery has an outdoor patio overlooking the Riverwalk and is situated in the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA).

Serving up delicious pasta, pizzas and family-style main courses, you won’t go hungry at Tre Trattoria.

We recommend getting a few pizzas to share, you can’t go wrong with the Goat Cheese Pizza; Balsamic onion, pistachio and saba.

You should also try one of their amazing pasta dishes, the Wild Mushroom Risotto is incredible!


Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen

If you’re looking for a more laid-back restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk, this is your spot.

Elsewhere is a beer garden located right along the Riverwalk with cute areas to sit and enjoy a drink and food.

If you find yourself here, try and snag one of the swinging benches that overlook the San Antonio River.

Elsewhere sources all of their fresh ingredients from local ranches and farmers.

Food options include classic bar food like burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, and Philly cheesesteaks.


Ocho

Ocho is another great spot along the Riverwalk with some of the best food in San Antonio.

Located in the Hotel Havana, in a glass conservatory overlooking the Riverwalk, this restaurant has a major Instagram-worthy aesthetic.

This riverside restaurant offers Pan-latin cuisine that is absolutely delicious and heavily influenced by Mexican, Cuban and classic Texas culture.

Ocho is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks. We also highly recommend checking out the cocktail menu that highlights the tequila of the Hotel Havana’s San Antonio roots.


Acenar

Acenar serves up contemporary Mexican cuisine right along the San Antonio Riverwalk.

Situated just blocks away from The Alamo, this restaurant is a great spot to sit and relax before taking in all of historic San Antonio.

Acenar has multiple levels with balcony and outdoor seating that overlook the San Antonio River.

Our favorite spot for some Tex-Mex, you can’t go wrong with getting a few small plates for the table and then following that up with some delicious tacos.


Restaurant Gwendolyn

Another great restaurant in San Antonio is Restaurant Gwendolyn.

This local favorite offers upscale American fare that is locally sourced and prepared without the use of motorized machines.

Enjoy their outdoor patio with a view of the scenic San Antonio River and delicious food.

This restaurant offers a prix fixe, three course menu that is outstanding. If you’re looking for a higher end dinner, be sure to check this place out!


Iron Cactus Mexican Restaurant and Margarita Bar

For over 20 years Iron Cactus has been serving up delicious food along the Riverwalk. Located on historic Sixth Street you’ll enjoy wonderful views of the river and great service.

Iron Cactus serves up classic Mexican dishes for brunch, lunch and dinner.

One of my favorites is the brisket quesadilla with roasted poblanos, caramelized onions and serrano raspberry bbq sauce, but that’s just to start.

If you’re looking for a hearty meal before you explore San Antonio I would recommend the Cactus Filet.

An 8oz filet with jumbo lump crabmeat, green chile bacon mash and seasonal veggies.

Don’t forget to order yourself a margarita while you’re here.

Iron Cactus Mexican Restaurant has been named one of the top 10 tequila bars in the country with over 100 different types of tequila.


Boudro’s on the Riverwalk

Another great place to eat along the San Antonio Riverwalk is Boudro’s.

If you can, reserve a table right along the river for some of the best views around.

Serving up Mexican cuisine, you’ll want to order the table-side guac to start.

For a main I would recommend one of their Wood Grilled Steaks or if you’re a seafood person try the Boudreaux’s Shrimp and Grits.

If you’re looking for delicious food along the San Antonio River, look not further than Biga on the Banks.
