If you’re a fan of true crime, you may know the infamous Dorothea Puente Boarding House.

This dark historical landmark is only one block from the first inviting restaurant on this list.

Aura has the corner spot on the street and a simply designed interior.

The modern design and the addition of brightly colored paper lanterns make this a relaxing place to eat.

Aura serves a variety of Korean, Japanese, and barbeque dishes in traditional styles with a contemporary twist.

The Korean BBQ Tacos play on the classic Korean preparation but uses a tortilla rather than a lettuce wrap.

I ordered my taco with spicy pork and Aura’s signature green sauce.

Across the American River in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento, visitors find Blue House Korean BBQ in this densely populated area.

This restaurant is a neighborhood favorite, with lots of space in its chicly decorated dining room.

The atmosphere here is friendly and fun, especially since you can cook some of your food.

At Blue House, each table is equipped with a grill where you can cook the protein of your choice.

While all-you-can-eat options are available for lunch and dinner, I opted for a single dish during my visit.

I ordered the Stone Pot Bibimbap with chicken and a delicious combination of vegetables.

Bonchon is a Korean food favorite with franchises across the United States and multiple Asain countries.

During my trip to Sacramento, I visited the North Natomas location in the family-friendly neighborhood.

The restaurant is across from North Natomas Regional Park, offering a pleasant dining spot with a minimalist aesthetic.

In addition to dishes like Bulgogi and Japchae, Bonchon serves Korean takes on wraps and sliders with sides like french fries and kimchi coleslaw.

The biggest draw to Bonchon locations is their signature fried chicken.

It comes smothered with soy garlic or spicy sauce, but you can also order half & half, which is what I did when I ate here.

Inside the Arden Fair Mall, people head to Gen Korean BBQ House.

The restaurant’s design is sleek, dark, and modern.

The lighting fixtures pull the room together, creating a laidback ambiance here.

Overall, Gen Korean BBQ created an enjoyable space to eat great food.

If you visit Gen Korean, I recommend going hungry.

One of the best ways to experience the food here is to go with the all-you-can-eat option.

I ordered this at dinner service, and it covers thirty-five different items.

My favorite was the brisket which I grilled myself at the table.

In eastern Sacramento, people visit Harrington Way Point and other nearby parks on the American River.

A great place to stop after spending time outdoors is the Modurang Family Restaurant.

The mismatched colors of the dining room are somewhat chaotic but set the tone for the casual and super approachable restaurant.

Modurang Family Korean serves many traditional dishes in classic style.

I ordered several of their appetizers to get a good sample of what they do.

TTeokbbokki, a dish with rice cakes in a spicy sauce, and the Goon-mandu dumplings were delicious, but by far the best thing I tried was the seafood pancake.

YD Tofu House

YD Tofu House has multiple locations in Sacramento.

The one I ate was in south Sacramento, about a mile away from landmarks like the Sacramento Zoo and Hughes Stadium.

YD Tofu doesn’t look that exciting from the outside, but the inside was charming, with photographs of the dishes lining the walls.

Don’t let the name of this spot fool you. In addition to tofu, they serve lots of other options!

However, when I noticed a special section just for tofu soup, I knew I’d have to try one.

The Kimchi Soon Du Bu soup was tasty, and the tofu was incredibly soft and flavorful from absorbing the broth.

East Sacramento is an upscale neighborhood with many events and food options.

Vons Chicken is on the eastern edge of this area, close to Hornet Stadium.

The restaurant is sleek and streamlined, with lots of metallic accents.

Vons looked like what it was, a relaxed chicken joint with quick service.

The restaurant’s primary focus is chicken with fried and oven-roasted options.

There are many ways to get your chicken here: garlic, soy, and black vinegar, honey butter, or cheese.

Vons was one of the best Korean restaurants in Sacramento for doing chicken.

I enjoyed the honey butter chicken, and the cheesy fried chicken was unique.

Song Pa Korean Restaurant is on the far eastern boundary of Sacramento, close to Mather Regional Airport.

The inside of this eatery was nothing special but still inviting.

The raised ceiling made the room feel bigger and more open.

Overall it was a comfortable place to eat lunch.

The food here is fresh and simple in the traditional Korean style.

I ordered cold noodle soup when I stopped by Song Pa Korean Restaurant on a hot day.

It was super satisfying after spending time in the California heat, especially the toothsome buckwheat noodles in the dish.

Jeon Ju Gom Tang & BBQ

9345 La Riviera Dr, Sacramento, CA 95826

Jeon Ju Gom Tang & BBQ is in the residential area of La Riviera, a few blocks away from the American River and Larchmont Community Park.

The decor here is simplistic, with bright beige walls and dark wood partitions.

Jeon Ju’s staff was attentive, and the restaurant felt welcoming.

The food here is authentically Korean without any twist or new take.

Jeon Ju Gom Tang & BBQ doesn’t need to update the food because what they make is excellent.

In particular, the sundae, or blood sausage, was seasoned beautifully, and it wasn’t something featured on many other menus of the places I ate.

From contemporary twists on traditional food to authentic meals, the best Korean restaurant in Sacramento has excellent options for everyone.

Sacramento’s best Korean spots are spread throughout the city, so no matter where you are in the city, there’s probably a great option for delicious food nearby.
