A Royal Feast at Rex at the Royal in Philadelphia

1524 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19146

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rex at the Royal, a delightful new restaurant located in Philadelphia. Offering a unique and delectable menu, this establishment has quickly captured my attention and taste buds.

Upon arrival, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that perfectly complemented the overall dining experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal.

We started our evening with two artfully crafted cocktails, the Le Fraiche Prince and the Royal Songbird.

The Le Fraiche Prince, a concoction of dry vermouth, amaro montenegro, ginger brandy, smoked pear, and rosemary, was a refreshing and well-balanced delight.

The Royal Songbird, featuring mezcal, pepita falernum, faccia brutto apertivo, pepita orgeat, pineapple, and lime demerara, was a smoky and tropical treat that awakened our senses.

For dinner, we indulged in a variety of mouth-watering dishes. The shrimp and grits were cooked to perfection, with tender shrimp and creamy, flavorful grits.

The crawfish potpie was a comforting and hearty dish, with a flaky crust and a savory filling that left us craving more.

Their signature Rex Burger was simply divine, boasting juicy, succulent flavors that satisfied our appetites. The Burger comes loaded with crispy onions, spicy pimento cheese, and smoked bacon, creating a symphony of textures and bold flavors that make each bite an unforgettable experience.

The side dishes also impressed, with cornmeal-dusted okra and perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts adding a delightful crunch to our meal.

Finally, we ended our dining experience on a sweet note with the banana pudding cheesecake, a heavenly dessert that combined the best of both worlds.

In terms of value for money, Rex at the Royal offers a fantastic dining experience that doesn’t disappoint. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable meal in Philadelphia.

Be sure to make a reservation, as I predict this gem will soon become a popular destination for food lovers in the city.
