The Grand Canyon is one of the most impressive sights to behold during any extended trip around the country or vacation to Arizona. It’s a nice change of pace to other famous landmarks in urban settings.

You can find plenty of places in the Grand Canyon’s North and South Rims offering quality cuisine if you’re feeling extra hungry after exploring the area.

Their menus range from local favorites to international delicacies, so you’re bound to find something to enjoy.

I compiled a list of the best restaurants near the Grand Canyon if you’re having trouble deciding where to eat and crave quality flavors.


El Tovar Dining Room

First up on my list of the top restaurants near the Grand Canyon is El Tovar Dining Room, nestled within the aptly-named El Tovar Hotel, near Matrimony “Heart” Rock and Verkamp’s Visitor Center.

It has an upscale yet rustic atmosphere, decorative mural walls, and a relaxing lounge decorated with canyon paintings.

I recommend starting with their Crab Stack or Artisan Cheese and Meat Board before ordering their Pasta Puttanesca, Braised Lamb Shank, Bone-In Blackened Beef Ribeye, or Stuffed Portabella Mushroom for an authentic fine dining experience.

They also offer casual breakfast and lunch dishes earlier in the day. Then, finish with their Homestyle Apple Streusel Pie.

Next up on this list of restaurants near the Grand Canyon is Maswik Food Court, located inside Maswik Lodge.

This casual eatery is an excellent option for anyone looking for meals they can take on the go if they’re short on time. It’s open daily from 6:30 AM to 8 PM.

Whenever I stop by for an early or midday meal, I usually order a Roast Beef and Cheddar Sandwich, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sliders, Chicken Caesar Wrap, or a Hummus Cup.

They also have a station offering freshly baked pizza. They taste great with a refreshing cup of coffee, juice, or root beer.


Bright Angel Lodge

You can find Bright Angel Lodge near the Bright Angel Trailhead and Mary Colter’s Lookout Studio. This cozy, rustic property has wood and natural rocks incorporated into its interior design.

It offers plenty of dining options for guests at The Fountain, a casual spot where you can enjoy grab-and-go snacks or coffee.

If you’re in the mood for a morning pick-me-up, stop by The Fountain for a Breakfast Burrito or Fresh Baked Chocolate Croissant with hot chocolate or a canned cold brew.

They also offer hot sandwiches, hot dogs, and ice cream if you prefer to eat something else in the afternoon.

It has a rustic, casual, family-friendly atmosphere, perfect for winding down after a long day traversing the canyon. I like starting with their Tater Tot Nachos or Pub Sliders.

Their best menu options are Fish & Chips, Shaved Prime Rib Dip, Southwest Chicken Fajita Bowl, and Turkey BLT, especially when paired with a Shriveled Apple Mule or Gold Rush cocktail.

Fred Harvey Burger also offers breakfast from 8 AM to 10:30 AM, where you can indulge in Western Omelet or Hikers Yogurt Parfait.

If you have room for dessert, consider sampling their New York-style Cheesecake or Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae.


Grand Canyon Lodge – North Rim

Located within walking distance from Bright Angel Point, Grand Canyon Lodge – North Rim is another excellent place to enjoy quality food during your trip.

Its historic, rustic ambiance embodies the Grand Canyon’s beautiful yet distant vibes. I consider it a great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner during any outing.

After starting with their North Rim Wings or Cope Butte Chips, indulge in a mouth-watering Venison Meatloaf or Ponderosa Smoked Brisket for dinner.

I also like their Bright Angel Parfait for breakfast and Grand Canyon Burger for lunch. Don’t forget to try their Chocolate Brownie or Banana Bread Pudding for dessert.

The closest place to stop by for a bite to eat near South Rim Trail is Yavapai Tavern. It has a rustic, stone-accented setting where guests can enjoy casual pub fare on a breezy outdoor patio.

I love stopping by this restaurant for lunch or dinner after a few hours of hiking. This tavern also hosts several beer tasting events during the fall and winter months.

My menu options are their Melted Elk Sandwich, Tavern All-American, and Artisan Pizza, topped with chicken, onions, and ham.

I prefer ordering these dishes with iced tea or lemonade. If you have room for dessert, try their Lemon Berry Mascarpone Cake.


Arizona Steakhouse

Arizona Steakhouse’s most popular menu items include Green Chile Corn Tamales, Southwest Chicken Caesar Salad, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Southwestern Angus Burger.

They only offer outdoor seating at their picnic tables, so you’re bound to enjoy their food and the Grand Canyon’s fresh air.

Their menu offers plenty of vegetarian and vegan-friendly sandwiches anyone can enjoy. I usually order their French Dip or Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

They also have an espresso bar if you want something hot to drink. However, I prefer their juice and root beer.


Deli in the Pines

Do you prefer taking your food to go? Then, consider stopping by Deli in the Pines, located inside The Grand Canyon Lodge, by the North Rim Visitor Center.

This casual eatery serves over-the-counter lunch and dinner entrees for anybody short on time. It’s open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM.

Their menu offers a wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, and pizza for you to sample if you’re looking for something to take on your hike.

I recommend ordering their Pepperoni Pizza, Walhalla Salad, Smoked BBQ Brisket Sandwich, or Black Bean and Rice Soup. They also serve refreshing coffee.


Desert View Trading Post

Are you in the mood for a light treat after taking a few pictures of Navajo Point? Then, consider visiting Desert View Trading Post for a quick bite.

You can find it near the Grand Canyon’s East Entrance. I consider it one of the best restaurants near the Grand Canyon because of its casual, laid-back atmosphere with a covered patio.

It’s open every weekday. When I visited this Grand Canyon restaurant, I had a two-scoop cup of vanilla ice cream topped with rainbow sprinkles and Oreos.

If you’re feeling extra thirsty, you can try their Chai Latte, London Fog, Iced Mocha, or Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

It has a rustic atmosphere, ideal for anyone looking for a bite to eat after a hike or mule ride down the canyon. However, you’ll need to book your reservation in advance if you aren’t taking your food to go.

During my last visit to the Grand Canyon, I enjoyed their Beef Stew dinner with cornbread, a salad, and fresh coffee

They also offer a fixed-price breakfast and to-go hiker’s lunch sacks for visitors exploring the canyon.
