Salt Lake City has a wonderful restaurant scene with a wealth of luxurious and high-end dining options to enjoy delicious food that spans the culinary gamut.

If you’re looking for a celebratory meal, Salt Lake City restaurants have the accommodations to make any occasion special and memorable.

During my most recent trip to Salt Lake City, I wanted to scout out the perfect restaurants to celebrate a special occasion with a delicious meal and private event spaces.

I found a wealth of wonderful options for private dining in Salt Lake City to accommodate parties big and small.


Log Haven

Appropriately named for its iconic location inside an old log mansion in the middle of the stunning Wasatch National Forest, Log Haven is a romantic fine dining American restaurant let by Chef Dave Jones.

The food and settings have won countless accolades from USA Today, Forbes, and more as the most scenic and romantic restaurant in the nation.

Log Haven is a favorite destination for private dining events, especially weddings. They have multiple rooms in the giant mansion for parties of all sizes, not to mention a gorgeous outdoor patio amidst the pines.

My favorite dish at Log Haven is the Grilled Elk NY Strip with pearl couscous, hazelnuts, currants, butternut squash, sage, brown butter, and huckleberry gastrique.


Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Flemings is a classic American steakhouse and wine bar founded by Paul Fleming and Bill Allen in 1998 in Newport Beach, California that has since become a national chain with locations around the U.S. Fleming’s Salt Lake City location is in the central Gateway neighborhood, offering the finest cuts of USDA prime beef and fresh seafood flown in daily.

Fleming’s Prime is well versed in private dining, offering various event packages from wedding-related to corporate events.

Their extravagant Chilled Seafood Tower with ahi tuna poke, shrimp cocktail, and North Atlantic lobster tails would make a wonderful appetizer centerpiece for a special event.

Located in the heart of downtown, Bambara is a New American fine-dining restaurant with an adjoining cocktail lounge known as The Vault in an old Continental Bank building.

Executive Chef Jerry Pacheco offers a chef-driven menu that sources ingredients from local farms and ranches. The grandiose dining space at Bambara features elegant marble and brass accents and modern décor.

You can rent small private spaces or the entire restaurant for large 180-person events. The decadent menu features colorful, beautifully presented dishes.

My favorite dish was the pheasant with port reduction, chevre, pickled red onion, pine nuts, figs, and arugula.

Cucina Toscana is a fine-dining Italian restaurant that was voted as one of the Top 3 Italian Restaurants in Salt Lake City by Three Best Rated.

Located in an elegant yet old-school warehouse-sized space in downtown Salt Lake City, Cucina Toscana serves authentic Italian dishes made from scratch, using the finest ingredients.

Their extensive wine list won the coveted Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and they have three private dining rooms to accommodate parties from 20 to 200 guests.

Their wonderful multi-course menu features antipasti, soup, salad, pasta, risotto, and hearty main dishes. I loved the Ravioli Toscana, scratch-made spinach, and ricotta ravioli in a butter sage and tomato sauce.

They make an incredible beer brined Duroc pork chop with creamy apple brandy sauce that exemplifies Christopher’s modern culinary approach.

Located directly across the street from Christopher’s in downtown Salt Lake City, Ruth’s Chris Steak House is as classic as American steakhouses get and has been a staple for fine dining in the U.S. for decades.

Founded by self-taught restauranteur and single mom Ruth Fertel in 1976, Ruth’s Chris Steak House maintains its New Orleans roots, offering decadent Southern-inspired side dishes to complement its high-quality steak and seafood.

They have an extensive wine list and wonderful craft cocktails to enjoy with a multi-course steak dinner.

I recommend the sizzling crab cakes with lemon butter to start, and the petite file with a bleu cheese and roasted garlic crust for the main event.

Caffe Molise is named for the Molise region of Italy that inspires the authentic Italian menu.

Caffe Molise’s stylish, vintage-chic downtown dining room has two-story ceilings, exposed brick walls, grand arched windows, black and white marble floors, and pops of color in its plus vintage chairs.

It’s certainly the poshest atmosphere in town and widely sought after for large weddings and corporate events.

The rich, authentic Italian menu has a wealth of handmade pasta, shareable plates, and entrees.

I started with the wild mushrooms and caramelized onions on polenta with tomato and gorgonzola sauce.

The signature entrée is the spice-rubbed, oven-roasted pork tenderloin with black mission fig compote.


Stanza Italian Bistro & Wine Bar

Led by New Orleans native Head Chef Paul Cafaro, Stanza Italian Bistro and Wine Bar is a contemporary Italian bistro in a stunning ultra-modern dining space in downtown Salt Lake City.

The warm and hospitable service, extensive wine and cocktail program, and gorgeous modern design compliment the exquisite offering of regional Italian plates.

Chef Cafaro puts creative twists to classic Italian dishes like the butternut squash gnocchi with duroc bacon, rapini, wild mushrooms, brandied cranberries, and honey hazelnut goat cheese drizzled with sage brown butter.

They also serve the best Seafood Cioppino in town with gulf shrimp, crab, calamari, halibut, mussels, clams, shaved fennel, and a red pepper Torchio in Campari tomato broth.

Spencer’s has been a downtown favorite and Salt Lake City original for Prime USDA steak dinners for over 20 years.

Under the direction of Chef Tony Coppernoll,Spencer’s uses local ranches and farms to create an elegant steak dinner rooted in farm-to-table philosophies. Spencer’s has won Best of State from America’s Traditional Fine Dining along with TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.

They have a wonderful cocktail menu along with a wine list that has the Wine Spectator’s seal of approval. My favorite dish at Spencer’s is the classic Steak Frites with 8oz Wagyu Bavette, Idaho potato crisps, and green peppercorn cognac sauce.

Brio Italian Grille is a national chain of refined yet casual Italian restaurants, serving home-cooked Italian favorites family-style in a bustling and inviting atmosphere.

A popular place for business lunches and family-friendly dinners alike, Brio Italian Grille is located in Salt Lake City’s massive City Creek shopping mall.

The menu at Brio features Italian classics with an American twist. I enjoyed their sausage, pepperoni, and ricotta flatbread to start.

Their pesto primavera was a colorful and healthful pasta dish with grilled asparagus, roasted grape tomatoes, and broccolini.


Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant

Located a few blocks from the famous Temple Square, Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant is another nationally beloved Italian American family-style concept.

The kitschy, whimsical decorations are a caricature of old-school northeastern Italian American restaurants, making them a fun and festive atmosphere for a family dinner.

The classic Italian American menu features the largest portions, served family-style. They have everything from chicken parmigiana to spaghetti with half-pound meatballs.

They make my favorite lasagna in town, with towering layers of meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan.
