New Orleans is one of those places people visit to experience something out of the ordinary. There’s nowhere you can get an incredible amount of food for one low price, especially if that place is a five-star restaurant.

It’s one of the things I love about this town. There are so many restaurants with great prices! You could eat out every night of the week on your grocery budget alone.

All but the most expensive places offer some sort of happy hour menu from 3 to 6 p.m., too, which means prices are slashed even more.


GW Fins

GW Fins is located near the French Quarter in the historic Bienville Hotel. You can’t get much fresher or more sustainable food than the seafood caught by its own fishing boats.

The restaurant is known for its seafood bar, serving plenty of raw options along with sushi and shellfish dishes.

Their private dining option seats up to 30 guests, and it’s worth it if everyone loves seafood. I’d recommend it for a family gathering or a wedding rehearsal dinner.

My favorite meal there is the lobster dumplings. It should be their signature dish. It’s one of those dishes that tastes better than you could ever imagine. Service is always top-notch. The atmosphere is casual but classy. I love this place!


Doris Metropolitan

Doris Metropolitan is located near the French Quarter. It’s an upscale restaurant that is more casual than most of the city’s fine dining spots.

The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, but I love going on ladies’ night when a portion of the proceeds goes toward breast cancer research.

My favorite meal there is lamb chops. It was served with spinach and chickpea salad. The tzatziki and tahini dressing was a nice touch to the paprika oil.

Aside from the food, Doris Metropolitan is an excellent place for intimate private events like wedding party meetings since it can only seat up to 16 guests.


Jacques-Imo’s

Jacques-Imo’s is probably the most well-known restaurant on this list. It’s known for its lively atmosphere and creative Cajun dishes served in a fun, casual atmosphere. It’s located near the Maple Street shopping district in Uptown.

My favorite meal is the grilled duck breast covered in an orange soy glaze, mushroom, and pecans. Jacques-Imo’s is a great place for private parties because of its open dining area.

Brennan’s is another well-known restaurant that’s been around for a long time. It’s known for its upscale, gourmet Cajun and Creole cuisine served in a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is located near the French Quarter in the shadow of historic St. Louis Cathedral.

My favorite meal there is the seafood gumbo appetizer and oysters J’aime. The gumbo is full of tasty chunks of shrimp, oysters, and popcorn rice. I just love the oysters J’aime.

What sticks out the most is the dish’s presentation with all the green spinach and creamy cheese on top of each oyster. Brennan’s offers nine different dining rooms to help you decide which one is best for your venue.

Commander’s Palace is an upscale restaurant that offers traditional, classic fine dining in a richly decorated Louisiana mansion. The atmosphere is elegant, and the food is always excellent.

It’s a great place for private dining because each person will receive a five-course meal. My favorite meal on their private dining menu is their turtle soup with their famous Creole bread pudding souffle for dessert.

They make the best bread pudding I’ve ever tasted! It’s served warm topped with vanilla ice cream and is perfect after a filling lunch.

Copper Vine is located in the Arts District near Poydras Plaza. It’s a cozy restaurant that serves primarily Italian food with some Greek dishes.

The inside has an upscale Mediterranean feel. The garden patio has sidewalk seating, which I prefer when it’s nice outside.

Copper Vine is a great place for private dining because they help you set up the space. They have presentation screens, audio setups, and even the flexibility to move around their furniture to fit your needs.

My favorite meal there is their la crawfish grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. It was very different from anything I’ve ever tried. It was built on sourdough bread loaded with crawfish, aged cheddar, provolone, roasted tomatoes, and mustard remoulade.

They also offer dinner and brunch menus. I opted for the jumbo lump crab cake with a wedge salad. The combination went well together. I felt full, but it didn’t weigh me down for the rest of the day.

They serve a classic mix of steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes. Crescent City Steakhouse is an awesome place for a private dining experience for couples.

They let you reserve private booths. My favorite meal there is their surf and turf. It’s steak wrapped in bacon served with a lobster tail. They also serve a mean cheesecake.

Vyoone’s is a casual restaurant located in the Warehouse District, which serves cuisine with European and South American influences. The room has an industrial feel with concrete floors and exposed brick walls painted white.

Vyoone’s is a great place for private dining because of its food presentation. They make their dishes so beautiful you will enjoy the experience just as much as the food.

My favorite dish was their crab cake benedict. It was a poached egg and crab cake with chipotle hollandaise sauce over an English muffin.

August is located in the Warehouse District close to Poydras Plaza. It’s an upscale restaurant that serves French-influenced Louisiana cuisine with a casual waterfront atmosphere. They have enormous spaces for private dining.

The significant part is that they serve a tasting menu of four-course meals. My favorite meal is their scallop almandine. It was prepared with Marcona almonds, sugar snap peas, brown bitter, and celeriac.

I also got to try their smoked beet and apple salad which was sweet and savory. I ended my meal with a warm chocolate souffle, a dessert to remember.


Broussard’s Restaurant & Courtyard

Broussard’s Restaurant & Courtyard is located across from historic Gallier Hall in the French Quarter. It’s a classic restaurant with two bars serving upscale Creole cuisine.

Broussard’s is a great place for a wedding event because they have an event team ready to support your venue. Not to mention, their spaces can hold up to a 650 guest party. The perks don’t stop with the event plans.

Their food is just as good as their experience. On the server’s recommendation, I tried the crispy fried chicken livers. It was served with wild mushroom butter, red onion jam, and a toasted baguette. It was delicious.

My favorite meal is their shrimp Arnaud appetizer followed by their Pontchartrain, sauteed filet topped with fresh Louisiana crabmeat.

The filet is rich, creamy, and delicious, topped with crabmeat that melts in your mouth. It comes with rice with just the right amount of saltiness, which I love!

Tableau is a casual restaurant located in the French Quarter. It has a neighborhood bistro feel with an open kitchen and rustic woodwork throughout. Tableau offers five venues to choose from. One of them is a theater that holds 365 guests.

My favorite meal is their shrimp and grits, complete with gulf shrimp, andouille sausage, sherry beurre blanc, and stone-ground grits. It’s a great meal that’s tasty and filling. It was so good for me that I would get it again.

The Pelican Club is a classic fine dining restaurant located in the French Quarter with a cozy atmosphere and attentive service.

They serve modern American cuisine along with an extensive wine list. It sits in a renovated 19th-century french quarter townhouse with three dining rooms, making it great for group events for 20 or more.

When I went to the Pelican Club, I didn’t order an appetizer. I started with the 1 lb whole main lobster and fried shrimp served with baby potatoes. The lemon garlic beurre blanc took the taste of the dish to a new level. It wasn’t something I had tried before.

The Grill Room at The Windsor Court Hotel is a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of the Central Business District. It has an upscale atmosphere and beautiful views of downtown New Orleans.

The Grill Room is the perfect spot for private dining if you are traveling to New Orleans because you can stay in the Windsor Court Hotel. It takes the guesswork and stress from traveling to another location.

The hotel offers beautiful spaces for rehearsal dinners and epic wedding receptions. My favorite meal is their gumbo du Jour and their chocolate meringue with raspberry mousse. The gumbo is a blend of shrimp, crabs, andouille sausage with rice. The flavor is delicious!
