The top spots to host a private event in the area.

Columbus is the capital of Ohio and home to the Ohio State University. In such a large city, there are plenty of things to do and see. Enjoy a buckeye football game, go to the zoo, or take a stroll through the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

If you’re interested in celebrating special occasions, Columbus has plenty of restaurants with private dining available. When I think of the perfect establishment for a romantic or special event, I envision elegant decor in a cozy environment.

On my trip to Columbus, thanks to the recommendations of locals and online reviews, I found the best of the best for excellent service and delectable cuisine. Check out our list for the best private dining options in Columbus, Ohio!

If you’re looking to host a private event in Columbus, be sure to check out Fireproof. This is easily one of my favorite spots to grab dinner or a cocktail. Besides they’re amazing specials and happy hour, Fireproof has a private area for you to celebrate special occasions and events. Family and friends of mine have book their private room for bridal showers, engagement parties, baby showers and even work holiday parties!

If there’s one thing Fireproof does well, it’s their Wagyu. You can stop by for specials on Wagyu Wednesday, and if you find yourself there on any other night, you need to order this. Other favorite dishes of mine include the Prime New York Strip and Grilled Spanish Octopus.


The Refectory Restaurant

The Refectory Restaurant is an exquisite French eatery situated near Olentangy River and many local shops. It was voted the most romantic restaurant in Columbus in 2021. The restaurant is a former church with gorgeous stained-glass windows and high ceilings. The seasonal menu consists of classic French fare and contemporary American delicacies. 

The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. It’s the perfect place to have work dinners, celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or graduation. The staff is professional, and they cater to your needs without hesitation. The plate presentation is beautiful, and then there’s the extreme attention to detail with every course. 

The candlelit setting is memorable, along with the delicious dishes. I recommend the Creamy Potato Potage with wild boar bacon and the Braised Veal Sweetbreads. Both were cooked to perfection, and the red wine was spot on. They had over 700 choices, which was impressive. Don’t miss out on the Refectory if you’re ever in the city. 


Barcelona Restaurant and Bar

Barcelona Restaurant and Bar is a hidden gem tucked in the German Village neighborhood near Schiller Park. Receiving inspiration from a seaside Sangria and walking along the beach, this restaurant is a fusion of European charm and metropolitan chic. It’s an ideal location for cocktails right before dinner or casual dining with friends or family. 

Barcelona has a sophisticated atmosphere with a beautiful garden patio out back with vibrant greenery that you can enjoy during dinner. They serve Spanish tapas that you can share with others, and their signature dish is the Paella. 

Locals suggest ordering the Ensalada de Remolacha (beet salad) and the Calamares Fritos. Everything was flavorful and fresh. The soft music and right amount of shade make for a pleasant experience. 


Mozart’s Bakery and Event Space

Mozart’s Bakery and Event Space is an upscale venue that offers brunch, afternoon tea, and delicious pastries. Known for using fresh ingredients and impeccable service, Mozart’s is one of the best spots for private dining in Columbus, Ohio. It’s very spacious with private rooms, two different halls, and several tables by the pastry counter. 

Soft classical music plays in the background of a dimly lit room, which is perfect for special gatherings. The filet mignon is a top selection at Mozart’s, and any of the fresh baked goods are worth a try, particularly the macarons. You can find Mozart’s on North High Street, a bustling strip that has countless stores with anything you could want. 


Local Roots

Local Roots is a contemporary restaurant in downtown Powell that uses locally-sourced foods to create a classic American menu with a beer garden. They also offer both indoor and outdoor seating with live music playing out on the patio. Local Roots also has a farm that produces fresh fruits and veggies for its menu. 

The restaurant has a seasonal selection, and they feature specials throughout the week. One of their most popular dishes is the Lemon Chicken with asparagus, roasted potatoes, lemon cream sauce, and parmesan. 

The Braised Short Ribs are also fall-off-the-bone good, juicy, and tender. The mashed potatoes and gravy are fluffy, and the green beans have a nice crunch. If you want a simple place to celebrate being with loved ones, Local Roots is the place to go.

If you are looking for a little slice of Italy in Columbus, Ohio, be sure to stop by Due Amici. It is near The Ohio Statehouse and a coffee shop. The elegance of this restaurant is breathtaking, and the way they present cuisine makes it almost too beautiful to eat!

Although there’s a small beer collection at Due Amici, they more than make up for it with plenty of spirits and wine. Here are some hidden gems that you simply will not want to pass up on: The Classic chicken parmesan is divine, and the chicken marsala is too far behind. To finish up, for dessert, try out the decadent tiramisu.

You can find it nestled near Holiday Inn Columbus, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding it. Stop by this Low-lit upscale eatery that serves the best Mediterranean & South American-influenced dishes in the city.

Everyone raves about this place from top to bottom—from the decor to the hostess to the waiters to the delicious food—Sidebar Columbus is a shoo-in when it comes to providing a fine dining experience! If you’re ever in the neighborhood, drop in and try the juicy rack lamb and the tasty chicken skewers, as well as the four-step cocktail for a beverage.

If you’re ever at the Easton Town Center shopping mall in Columbus, Ohio, stop off at the Easton station, which it’s moments away from the main mall complex, to enjoy some upscale cuisine! This place marries prime steaks and fresh seafood beautifully as the crux and their cuisine and dabbles here and there with some classic dishes from around the globe.

Here a fine dining experience is right at your beck and call. Get lost in the seemingly endless dishes imbued with an uncanny sophistication, such as the Chilean Sea Bass or the elegant twin lobster tails. Try the black orchid cocktail on for size; it surely won’t disappoint. 


Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, Columbus

Located right next to the Drury Inn and Suites is Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse. As you approach the building, the grandeur of the building and its palatial-looking red bricks give you a clue of what kind of evening you’re in for. This establishment goes out of their way to make you feel like a VIP and enjoy your fine dining experience.

The food is just as well put together as the spectacular decor. The following are a few dishes that you’d be remiss if you didn’t try on your visit to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse: Steak and Lobster, Bone-in Filet Mignon, and Jeff Ruby’s very own cheesecake, which was a hit at a recent work party that I attended. 


Martini Modern Italian

Martini Modern Italian is a classy, upscale, and elegant restaurant located near the North Market farm produce store. The dining experience here is simply divine. As you step foot into the threshold, you are greeted by a spectacular seating area, and the ceilings are all adorned with extravagant chandeliers. Ever before you sit down, you’re already anticipating something special.

The service is top-notch, and the food is somehow more elegant than the establishment itself. If you’re ever in town, you have to stop by and delve into one of these fine dishes: Lamb Pappardelle, the veal martini, and the decadent chocolate bread pudding!

Located a block away from the Saint Mary Catholic Church, Lindsey’s is a chic and elegant restaurant that promises a lot even before you step foot into the door. The building is a lovely brick, and the place even has an outside sitting area for those days where the weather permits.

A stand-out right away was the exceptional service. Every woman and man seemed to take pride in the service they provided, which was a welcomed sight. What’s more, the food was simply delicious. Here are some items that you must grab the next time you’re in Columbus, Ohio: Shrimp Linguine, Eggs Benedict, and the rich and delicious lobster bisque. 


The Guild House

The Guild House is located near the Luxe Redux Bridal Boutique. The Guild House seeks to stand out from the competition, which is apparent from how the workforce appears to be prepared and regimented from the very moment of your arrival. The Guild House gives a new meaning to the understanding of the fine dining experience.

Apart from the spectacular decor, the food is also a sight to behold. On your next visit to the Guild House, you have to try the Sea Bass, the mouth-watering lamb chops, and the delicate yet flavorful scallops!
