Love BBQ? Head on over to Joe’s Real BBQ in downtown Gilbert. All the meat here is smoked over several hours, and pecan wood from Arizona is exclusively used.
No shortcuts, like electricity, are used in this process. Talk about dedication! I’m a big fan of smoked meats, so Joe’s real BBQ was one of my first culinary destinations in downtown Gilbert.
When I had dinner at Joe’s Real BBQ, I had the BBQ Sandwich, with sides of Mac ‘N Cheese and coleslaw.
Yes, I was that hungry! All three selections were incredibly yummy, and I treated myself to a delicious cocktail, too.

One of the first things you’ll notice about Postino East is the attention to detail. The atmosphere here is lively and convivial, and the food is outstanding.
There is an impressive wine selection on display, so pair the perfect glass or bottle with your chosen meal. In fact, Postino East is designated as a wine cafe. That’s exactly how I would describe it.
There are all kinds of scrumptious bites to enjoy with your wine at Postino East, such as Smoked Salmon (my favorite), Butcher’s Block, Warm Artichoke Spread, Raspberry Chicken Salad, and Fig Spread. Postino East is found on Gilbert Road, quite close to West Page Avenue.

The aptly named Farm House Restaurant is the ideal place if you want a comforting and delicious meal.
This downtown Gilbert restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch, so head over there for one of these meals.
I decided to have breakfast at Farm House Restaurant on two occasions while I was in Gilbert. I had French Toast the first time I went there, and on my second visit, I went with the Breakfast Sandwich with Avocado.
Both dishes were delectable and highly recommended. There’s a good reason they’re so popular. Some other famous meals here are the Chicken Fried Steak and Chili Cheese Omelet.

When it comes to creative dishes inspired by Asian cuisine, you can’t do better than Clever Koi. This well-known downtown Gilbert restaurant also offers superb craft cocktails.
A unique feature of Clever Koi is its wood-fired grill and open kitchen. I found the waitstaff here incredibly friendly and hospitable.
You can order a craft cocktail at your table with your meal, or you can just go to the bar. There are also wine and sake selections available.
I heartily enjoyed the Asian fusion cuisine served at Clever Koi. I tried the Pork Ramen, and it was certainly a dish I’d recommend.
Other well-loved menu selections are the Soft Shell Crab Bun, Trio of Steamed Buns, Pork Belly Bun, and Hot Chicken Bun.

If you love tacos and other Mexican foods, make a visit to Joyride Taco House East on North Gilbert Road.
The food here is fun, delicious, and just as importantly, affordable. Joyride Taco House East has a casual atmosphere, and I love the margaritas here as much as the food.
One of the things that most impressed me about Joyride Taco House East is the sheer variety of tacos and other items here.
There are tastebud-tingling quesadillas, nachos, tacos, and more on the menu here. I had a Quesadilla with Monterey Jack and Oaxaca cheese blend. I added chicken and onion, too.

Neighborhood joints like The Porch are a great place to meet the locals. So if you want to get a real taste of downtown Gilbert, add The Porch to your itinerary. There is a wide selection of food items as well as cocktails on the menu.
This is a great place to go if you love kicking back with friends. If the weather is nice (it always is in Arizona), have your meal and drinks outside on the picnic bench seating.
What a great way to get some sun with just enough shade from the umbrellas. The Porch is truly in the thick of things in downtown Gilbert.

I don’t know about you, but I need a coffee sometimes. Actually, I need a coffee a few times a day! Bergies Coffee Roast House was on my radar from the moment I arrived in downtown Gilbert. I was amazed at how spectacularly fresh and delicious the coffee and other beverages taste here.
All the coffee beans used here are carefully selected for premium quality, and they’re from South America, Central America, Indonesia, and Africa. This prime coffee shop has been a local institution since 2008.
There’s a patio here, so there’s the chance to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather while you have your coffee. Visit this spot and enjoy it during your stay in Gilbert.

So, what did I eat at Joe’s Farm Grill? I had the Flamin’ Southwest Burger. It was mouthwatering and spicy, featuring jalapeno, ghost pepper jack, avocado, and more. Remember the side dishes, too.
I paired my spicy burger with caesar salad and french fries. There are also pan pizza options here, too, including pepperoni and extra cheese.
Topo Arizona

Topo Arizona is yet another wonderful restaurant I enjoyed in downtown Gilbert. The exterior and interior decor is incredibly unique, based on legendary roadside restaurants from past decades.
Part of the Downtown Heritage District in Gilbert, Topo Arizona has been popular ever since its opening in 2019.
Fun, fast, and tasty are the keywords at this local restaurant. It’s simple and easy to get items to-go here, all ready for your adventures.
An especially famous treat is the Chicken Burrito. That’s what I selected when I stopped by Topo Arizona. And the ice cream treats here are legendary. I recommend the Vanilla Twist.

There’s a full range of pizzas here, and you can depend on their deliciousness. In fact, they’re some of the best in the area.
There are also plenty of other traditional Italian cuisine selections on offer, like the Big Rig Pasta and Alfredo the Dark.
I loved the pub-like decor at Oregano’s Pizza Bistro. It’s truly a taste of the Old World, which matches the classic cuisine (with a twist). Oregano’s Pizza Bistro serves lunch and dinner, as well as a selection of drinks.

They were so good I had to restrain myself from ordering seconds! Of course, there is plenty of coffee and tea for you to get your day started right.
If you’re going to Snooze for brunch, get one of the specialty brunch cocktails, too. Bloody Mary, anyone?
