The first entry on this list of Omaha steak restaurants is the 801 Chophouse at the Paxton, overlooking South 14th Street.
It has a comfortable and upscale setting, ideal for any party or date. It also has four private dining rooms of varying sizes to accommodate your needs and an award-winning wine list.
They offer succulent Roast Prime Rib, Surf and Turf for Two, and Double Bone-In Kurobuta Pork Chop on their dinner menu.
They also offer a three-course Sunday Supper menu with your choice of salad, steak, and dessert, coupled with international wine.
In my opinion, 801 Chophouse has the best potato dishes you can find in the city.

If you’re in the mood for fine dining in an upscale atmosphere, stop by Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, located off the corner of California Street and North 137th Street.
They specialize in steaks made with prime beef and seafood and have an extensive wine list to make every night classy.
Some of their specialty cuts include filet mignon and prime cowboy ribeye.
If you’re not in the mood for beef, try their fried jumbo shrimp, chicken marsala, or rack of lamb.
They also offer a gluten-free menu. Don’t forget to finish your night with their key lime pie or chocolate martini for dessert.

Next on my list of places offering the best steak Omaha has for its locals and visitors is Cascio’s Steakhouse, located on South 10th Street, minutes away from Dahlman Park.
It has a warm and friendly vibe, perfect for a family’s night out.
Besides serving 100% Angus beef steaks and chops, Cascio’s also has excellent Italian dishes to make it stand out from the other steakhouses Omaha has.
I recommend their sirloin brochettes, Beef Parmigiano, breaded Italian beef cutlet, and haddock filet. Each menu option comes with complimentary tea or coffee.
If you have room for dessert, try their turtle cheesecake or spumoni.
Johnny’s Cafe

Next on this list is Johnny’s Cafe, located on South 27th Street. Since 1922, this steakhouse has served mouth-watering meats aged to perfection on-site.
If you want to experience an authentic, vintage steak-dining setting near the once-prominent Omaha Stockyards, this is one place you don’t want to miss.
I recommend starting with their onion rings or garlic cheese bread and selecting their Mississippi Delta Catfish, Omaha Strip Steak, or Top Sirloin as a dinner entree.
Dinner specials include Cork Dork Tuesdays, Thirsty Thursdays. In addition, their Friday Night Bar Special offers special-priced bar burgers after 5 p.m.
They host lounge wine tastings every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Omaha Prime is ideal for dining in an old-school atmosphere while trying dishes with a contemporary twist.
It’s located on the first floor of the Old Market Passageway, overlooking South 11th Street.
Although you can come for dinner throughout the week, it’s open on Sundays during the College World Series.
Their Omaha Prime’s wine and dinner menus helped them win Open Tables’ “Diner’s Choice Award” in 2012.
Their trademark dishes include veal chop, chicken piccata, t-bone, and Ahi tuna. I recommend starting with their duck wings or lobster mac & cheese.
Don’t forget to try their Prime Sour or Negroni craft cocktails or s’more lava cake dessert.
Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse

Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse, nestled on South 119th Street, offers a unique twist to dining in an upscale setting.
Warm and welcoming, this steakhouse takes inspiration from Spanish monasteries, complete with staff dressed as monks.
Brother Sebastian’s also won several awards, including Omaha Magazine’s “Best Prime Rib” in 2012 and 2013.
Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse offers quality USDA Angus and Prime rib, seafood, and chicken. I recommend their club sirloin, chicken cordon bleu, and baked frog legs.
If you want an enhanced flavor kick, add black peppercorn sauce or grilled onions to your meat.
They also have an excellent selection of beer, wine, and liquor.
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Wine Spectator awarded them their “Reward of Excellence” from 2010 to 2016. They also offer curbside pickup, Wi-Fi, and private dining rooms for any celebration.
If you’re looking for the best steak Omaha offers, Fleming’s menu has it all, including seafood.
In my opinion, their best dishes include petite filet mignon, prime tomahawk, truffle-poached lobster, and miso-glazed Chilean sea bass.
They also offer vegetarian options. Other weekly specials include Filets of Fall and Tomahawk Tuesdays.
The Drover

Located on South 73rd Street is The Drover, a rustic chophouse specializing in enticing steaks marinated in whiskey for 15 minutes.
This process ensures the marinade won’t overpower the beef’s flavor. This comfortable setting is excellent for unwinding after a long workweek or treating yourself after exploring Omaha’s finest attractions.
I recommend trying their trademark whiskey filet, teriyaki tenderloin kabob, broiled halibut, and steak & seafood combo.
The Drover also has a wide selection of red and white wines to complement your meal.
If you stop by earlier in the day, check out their lunch menu for hearty burgers or sandwiches, including Omaha’s signature Reuben.
Monarch Restaurant

Located off the corner of Center Street and 49th Avenue, this steak restaurant offers a comfortable vintage setting for all its visitors.
Gorat’s Steakhouse specializes in steaks, salads, seafood, and Italian dishes. I recommend their Omaha T-bone, Canadian Walleye, steak salad, and cheese ravioli.
If you have time for dessert, try their red velvet cheesecake or warm apple turnover.
Gorat’s hosts happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., so be sure to try their cocktails or tap beer.

You might also want to visit on Thursdays for their extended happy hour from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and try their Hibiscus Cosmopolitan or Dirty Bird Martini.

I recommend their Prime Beef BBQ Meatloaf, Spencer Steak, Steak Frites, and Scottish Salmon. After dinner, be sure to check out Spencer’s scratch-made desserts, including sorbet and key lime pie.

Their signature dishes include grilled quail, cod fillets, ground sirloin, and Omaha’s Finest Prime Rib. They also have a menu featuring lighter servings.

The last entry on my list is Saltgrass Steakhouse, located on the corner of North 175th Street and Chicago Street.
This steak restaurant has a rustic Texas-themed interior, complete with cattle decorations. You don’t have to worry about dressing in formal attire while visiting this place.
I recommend their chicken tenders, bone-in ribeye, or Silver Star porterhouse.
In addition, Saltgrass Steak House hosts happy hour every Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., so you should try some Tito’s Texas Tea or Coronarita to complement their cheese fries or bacon-wrapped quail appetizers.

Love my Omaha beef. But my favorite is Farmer Browns in Waterloo. Prime Rib To die for.
Venture outside of Omaha to Round the Bend Steakhouse in Ashland Nebraska for the Best Prime Rib and hand cut steaks. Never disappointed in any of their food! We also have a couple if wineries to enjoy!! Come see us sometime!!
Cascio s is terrible. Johnny’s is disgusting. Salt grass is a joke. The best thing about Brother Sebastiáns is its mediocre salad bar. Spencer’s is ridiculously overpriced and has servers that also work at Dennys.. Plus their food is garbage…. Gorats stopped being good 15 years ago. Sullivan’s is a dive… Great environment… Terrible food mediocre service.
I have been eating at Omaha steak house since 1957. Lots has changed. The old guard racetrack places around AkSarBen are all gone. South O got wiped out in the 1970s. But I love Gorats. And Cascios is still great food. I also agree that Farmer Browns in Waterloo has great meat. Times change, tastes change, chefs change. But beef ? Let’s keep it Nebraska Bred and Corn Fed!

My favorite is Mahogany Prime. Best 12 ounce filet I have ever had. Have been to most of these, but not all. The Drover steaks are very good. Flemings has great atmosphere. Sullivan’s is definitely not a dive. Very fancy place. Amazingly, I have never heard of 5 of these places, most of those are in downtown.
