People flock to New York City to explore, eat delicious food, celebrate milestones, and so much more. If you have a birthday coming up, an engagement party to plan, are receiving a promotion, or anything in between, celebrating over great food is perfect.
The city that never sleeps has more than its fair share of fabulous and delicious places to celebrate special occasions. Whether you’re looking for something in the heart of the city or the outer boroughs, there’s something for everyone’s special day.
If you’re looking to host a private event or group dining experience in New York City, Midtown has some of the best options. Let’s take a look at the best private dining in Midtown NYC.
153 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
The first place worth mentioning for private dining is Le Bernardin Prive. Located minutes away from Rockefeller Center on W 51st Street, this elite French restaurant is a prime location for celebrating. The tables are lined with white linen table cloths, dim lighting, and beautiful floral arrangements.
When dining at Le Bernardin Prive, their traditional menu includes a tasting and either a three- or four-course meal. Their private dining team will help you decide on a menu and table arrangements for the big day for their private events. The striped bass and crispy duck breast are to die for. As for dessert, the roasted figs are the perfect ending.

It’s no secret that Ocean Prime is a fantastic restaurant to host a private dining event. Their Midtown New York location is four minutes from Radio City Music Hall on W 52nd Street. This intimate and elegant restaurant is the perfect location to host a holiday party, birthday, or any other celebration you can think of.
One of the main reasons people love Ocean Prime for private dining is that they can seat anywhere from 13 to 250 people in their Midtown location. Whether you have a small group or a large one, you’ll have enough privacy to celebrate like you’re the only ones there. Ocean Prime is known for delicious seafood and steaks, so you’ll want to include any of their sushi rolls and their New York strip steak.

Less than a minute north of the United Nations Headquarters is Copinette. This classic American restaurant is the perfect place to host an event.
The restaurant is stunning, with wood floors, white walls, and mood lighting to set the scene. The artwork on the walls is feminine, to go with the restaurant’s name, which is French for girlfriend.
While Copinette is an American restaurant, many dishes draw inspiration from France and classic French dishes. To inquire about private dining, they have a form on their website. When picking your menu for you and your guests, you’ll want to include the crispy tortellini and lobster risotto. They also have a selection of hand-crafted cocktails you may want to sip on while feasting on delicious food.
9 W 53rd St, New York, NY 10019
Located inside The Museum of Modern Art is The Modern. This restaurant is exactly what the name suggests, modern. It has simplistic decor with neutral tones throughout the restaurant.
During the day, it’s bright with natural lighting, and in the evening, the lighting dims to make a more intimate feel. When reserving a room for private dining, you and your guests will have a view of the Rockefeller sculpture garden.
Their private dining options can seat anywhere from 30 to 250 guests. The cuisine at The Modern is American and French fare. You can choose between a five-course tasting menu to a three-course meal. I loved the herb-roasted scallops, roasted lamb rack, and the chocolate decadence for dessert when I visited here for dinner.
3 E 52nd St, New York, NY 10022
You’ll find La Grenouille a block from St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This French restaurant has been serving classic French cuisine since 1962 and is one of the most beautiful spots in Midtown for your private event.
The restaurant is decorated with beautiful floral arrangements throughout, giving it a fresh and bright feel.
To book a private room at La Grenouille, you’ll need to email them or give them a call. They’ll help you decide on a menu of perfect French dishes for your guests. Their three-cheese onion soup is the perfect appetizer, the lobster ravioli is the most delicious entree, and for dessert, the hot chocolate torte is my favorite.
1221 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020
Located right down the street from the famous Rockefeller Center is Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse. If you’re looking for private dining in Midtown NYC, this is one of the best options. The restaurant is energetic yet intimate all at once, with dark fixtures and three stories to accommodate as many parties as possible.
They have multiple private rooms to host your special occasion in. Whether it’s celebrating a birthday with a few friends to an engagement party with dozens, there’s space here. They have space to accommodate anywhere from 24 to 150 people. As for the food, oysters and dry-aged prime strip should be on your menu. Don’t forget the wine!
11 W 31st St, New York, NY 10001
Just north of Madison Square Park on W 31st Street is AYZA. This restaurant is no stranger to private events and has plenty of private dining space to accommodate you and your event. They’re one of the best in Midtown if you’re thinking of hosting a work holiday party this season or next.
AYZA is a French and Mediterranean restaurant that offers over 100 bottles of wine and champagne. When you coordinate with an event planner, you’ll select the perfect menu for your guests. I recommend having a cheese plate, smoked eggplant, and cheeseburger sliders on your menu.
9 E 37th St, New York, NY 10016
You’ll find Fine & Rare on E 37th Street, three minutes from the Empire State Building. This stunning restaurant brings you back in time to what they call Old New York with live jazz music and fine spirits. The walls are lined with rare artwork and other art deco decor.
If you’re considering booking a group dining experience, you can’t go wrong. Your guests will feast on classic American food, including a fabulous raw bar. The event planners will help you create a night to remember with table seating and a menu to please everyone. You won’t want to leave their New England crab roll or F&R burger off the menu.
There are plenty of perfect restaurants with private rooms in Midtown. After you’ve booked your perfect private dining experience, why not continue the celebration the following day?
