Sushi Spot is a snug eatery open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. The kitchen serves specialty sushi rolls, and guests can enjoy their meal in the restaurant or order sushi for delivery or curbside pickup. Sushi Spot is located in the heart of Crown Heights, near Hamilton Metz Field. 

When I visited Sushi Spot, I enjoyed the Tropical Roll with kiwi, mango, and avocado, and the Brooklyn Roll with black pepper tuna, asparagus, avocado, spicy salmon, and a special sauce. Try the lunch special where you can choose two rolls and a soda for about ten dollars. 


Gen

Gen is situated along Washington Avenue, the unofficial border between Crown Heights and Prospect Park. The restaurant opens at 5:00 pm during the week with extended weekend hours.

It is a funky, fun, and casual spot with a menu that lists a host of Japanese dishes and sushi. Gen has a great happy hour and weekend brunch. 

My favorite sushi roll was the Thai Shrimp Tempura Roll with shrimp, avocado, peanuts, and jalapeno.

Other popular menu items include the Spicy Tuna Roll, the Salmon Nigiri, and the Katsu Curry and Rice. Gen has a list of beers and sake, too; try the Earl Gray Umeshu sake!

Sushi Tatsu serves Thai cuisine and sushi rolls in Crown Heights. It is a great place to stop for a quick bite or for solo lunch.

The restaurant is situated between Park Place and Franklin Avenue Metro Stations. Visit Sushi Tatsu between 11:00 am and 10:30 pm daily.

Try the Dinner Bento Box with chicken katsu, vegetable tempura, miso soup, salad, a California roll, and four pieces of shumai.

I also enjoyed the Spicy Scallop Roll and the White Tuna Avocado Roll. Sushi Tatsu is also known for Donburi Bowls; the Pork Katsu Don is the most popular option.

Sushi Lin is along Flatbush Avenue, near the Grand Army Plaza. It is a Japanese restaurant specializing in a chef ‘s-choice menu that shifts daily.

Sushi Lin is a cozy spot that is perfect for a date night. Visit for dinner between Tuesday and Sunday. 

When I visited Sushi Lin, I sat at the sushi bar for the full omakase experience, which I recommend if you have the time to savory the cultivated flavors and relaxed atmosphere.

Other delicious menu items include the Yaki Salmon Don, marinated and seared salmon with ikura over sushi rice, and the Rock Shrimp Tempura.

Uotora is located near the Nostrand Bus Stop and Metro Station in Crown Heights. Chef Atsuomi and Chef Hiroyuki have over twenty years of experience preparing tasty and unique sushi rolls, so the restaurant specializes in serving omakase. Make reservations for dinner between Monday and Saturday. 

My favorite roll was the Soft Shell Crab Roll with fried soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, shiso, sesame, and cilantro ponzu sauce.

I would also recommend the Nasu Nibitashi, a tasty marinated eggplant appetizer, and the Fatty Tuna Scallion roll.

However, the omakase is the main event at Uotora, so make plans to experience the chef’s skill via special sushi bites.

Geido is steps from the 7th Avenue Metro Station near the Crown Heights neighborhood. The kitchen prepares sushi and straightforward Japanese cuisine in a cozy space.

The restaurant is family-friendly and a great location for children to try sushi. Geido is open between Wednesday and Sunday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. 

The menu is filled with delicious options. Try Ms. Pepper Roll with fresh yellowtail jalapeño and masago, or the Obama Roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallions, and eel sauce.

A specialty dish is a Ramen with egg noodles in classic shoyu stock, topped with vegetables and roasted pork. 


Sumi Sushi

Sumi Sushi is a neighborhood favorite near the Bergen Street Metro Station and the Grand Army Plaza. The interior is warm and inviting, with cozy backlighting and an art installation covering the ceiling. The best seat in the house is at the sushi bar! Visit for lunch or dinner any day of the week. 

When I visited Sumi Sushi, I ordered a few specialty rolls like the Kamikaze Roll with spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, and tobiko, and the Mango Tango with salmon avocado, fresh mango, and sweet chili sauce. Try the Mochi Ice Cream; I enjoyed both the vanilla and the macha flavors.

Silver Rice is a modern Japanese counter-serve eatery with sushi rolls, rice bowls, and sake. It is located across the street from the Park Place Metro Station in Crown Heights.

Silver Rice is open for lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant owners are two friends who grew up in Nagoya, Japan, and brought their culinary expertise to Brooklyn

My favorite sushi roll was the Spicy Salmon Roll, and I encourage customers to order the rice bowls, called Chirashi.

Each bowl includes sashimi, spicy mayo, tempura crunch, and more customizable add-ons. Silver Rice offers a full bar with sake, beer, and cocktails.

Ki Sushi is well-positioned along Flatbush Avenue near both the Bergen Street and 7th Avenue Metro Stations.

The restaurant’s interior offers a relaxed dining room, and the kitchen serves a full Japanese menu along with specialty rolls and an omakase menu. Visit Ki Sushi for lunch or dinner. 

I enjoyed the Yellowtail Tartar and the Fashion Roll with spicy lobster, yellowtail, jalapeno, yuzu tobiko, and fresh scallops.

Other popular specialty rolls include the Passion Roll with spicy crunchy scallop, mango, seared salmon, avocado, and caviar, and the Volcano Roll with scallop, avocado, sweet shrimp, and yuzu tobiko.

Pine Tree Sushi Bar is near the Park Place Metro Station and the Brooklyn Museum. Pine Tree Sushi Bar is open from 12:30 pm to 10:00 pm between Monday and Saturday.

When I visited Pine Tree Sushi Bar, I started my meal with the miso soup and ordered the salmon roll and the shrimp tempura roll.

I recommend the Tuna and Mango Avocado Roll and the Salmon and avocado roll. The poke bowls with tuna or salmon are tasty with lots of customizable toppings.

The Trad Room is a restaurant and bar with a comfortable vibe that serves traditional Japanese cuisine. The interior has a lovely exposed brick wall, creating a casual ambiance in the dining room.

Trad Room is located above Fulton Street, near the Jackie Robinson Park Playground. It is a classy place that is perfect for a date or catching up with friends. 

My favorite sushi roll was the Japanese Sweetened Tamago Egg Roll. I would also recommend the Wagyushu ramen with beef, creamy chicken broth, a soft-boiled egg, and shallots. Additionally, try the omakase sashimi with katsuo bonito, salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. 


Crown Heights Brooklyn has lots of restaurants that serve high-quality cuisine. Especially those restaurants serving Thai and Japanese traditional dishes. It is easy to find delicious sushi for dine in or delivery in the Crown Heights neighborhood. 

Whether you’re visiting the area to go to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum or you have moved into one of the historic brownstones that line the street, residents and tourists alike can agree that all of the sushi restaurants listed above are great for all sorts of dining situations.
