Downtown Brooklyn Pizza Places Everyone Should Try

Both the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge connect the borough of Brooklyn with bustling Manhattan. The area has expansive public transportation options.

Primarily, it is accessible via the New York City Subway and numerous bus lines. The Downtown area of Brooklyn is continually growing and currently features high-rise apartment buildings and historic buildings like Brooklyn Borough Hall.

The MetroTech Center is a company and educational center that lies in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn and is surrounded by fantastic pizza options.

Fulton Street is the busiest area of downtown. During the day, offices are filled with employees and students from various universities who visit Downtown Brooklyn’s cafes and eateries.

Most days, someone is searching for a pizza. Lucky for them, we sampled dozens of pizzerias in Downtown Brooklyn to develop this list of the eleven best pizza joints in the area.

Piz-zetta Pizzeria is located across from the Borough Hall Metro Station and is open between Monday and Saturday.

The restaurant serves pizza by the slice. Look out for the green signage on the exterior and the fun red, white, and green “pizza” flags blowing in the breeze.

When I stopped by Piz-zetta Pizzeria, I enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken pizza and the Vodka Sauce pizza.

I would also recommend trying the Meat Lover’s pie and Grandma’s Pie’s thin crust. Guests can order a gluten-free crust pizza and portions of pasta like baked ziti and cheese ravioli.

Forcella Fried Pizza serves pizzas by the Hoyt Street Metro Station between Wednesday and Sunday. The restaurant offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery options.

The pizza crust is unique; it is fluffy and crisp because it is fried. The kitchen offers vegetarian options, is great for kids, and is family-friendly.

Try the Parmigiana with eggplant, basil pesto, and ricotta. I also enjoyed the Prosciutto with arugula and balsamic glaze.

The creative Peach pizza is a must-try for the foodie in your family! For a small bite, try the arancini,  the mozzarella sticks, or the croquettes. Forcella Fried Pizza is undoubtedly one of my favorite spots in Downtown Brooklyn.

In the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, Forno Rosso is a trendy pizzeria using housemade sauces and upscale toppings.

Since 2013, Chef Gualtiero has been serving authentic Neapolitan food at Forno Rosso. The restaurant offers happy hour deals from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on weekdays and is open for lunch and dinner every day.

When I visited Forno Rosso, I enjoyed the Diavola pizza with mozzarella, red chili pepper, and salami.

Other popular menu items include the Pizza Bolognese, the Spaghetti with Meatballs, and the Rustico lunch panini.

The 2018 Cigar Box Malbec is delicious with the pizza, and you can buy the wine by the glass or bottle.

Norm’s Pizza is easy to access with two nearby metro stops, Borough Hall and Jay Street-MetroTech stations.

The pizzeria is open daily, beginning at 11:00 am. The pizza doughs are made with a sourdough starter for a delicious taste. Look for the red neon sign reading “pizza” in all capital letters to know you’ve made it to Norm’s.

My favorite pizza on the menu is the Supreme Pie with tomato sauce, Sicilian oregano, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, and chili.

Additionally, I recommend trying the Tomato Pie and the Vodka Pie. Follow Norm’s on social media for specialty pizza information.

99 cent supreme pizza is the place to get a slice literally anytime; the pizzeria is open from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am!

And the classic cheese slices are less than one dollar! There are lots of reasons to be excited by this restaurant. The pizza joint is across from Jay Street-MetroTech Metro Station.

The cheese slice is the best deal, but I also enjoyed the Pepperoni Jalapeno Pizza and the Vegetable Lover’s pizza with green pepper, tomato, and mushroom.

Try the chicken wings with buffalo sauce or mozzarella sticks for an extra bite of deliciousness. The pizzeria is an affordable place to experience some classic New York style pizza.

Sottocasa is a family-friendly community pizzeria that offers thin-crust pizzas prepared in a wood-fired oven.

The pizzeria is open daily with extended weekend hours. Luca Arrigoni opened the restaurant in 2011 to serve authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas.

When I visited Sottocasa, I enjoyed the Quattro Stagioni with tomatoes, mozzarella, olives, mushrooms, ham, artichokes, and basil.

Other popular menu items include the Americana pie with tomatoes, caramelized onions, pancetta, pecorino, and basil, as well as the Prosciutto and Mozzarella appetizer.

Dellarocco’s Brick Oven Pizza serves thin-crust, brick-oven pizza with gluten-free options. The bar serves craft beers, and the open, minimalist space creates a great vibe for guests. The restaurant opens at noon daily. Follow Dellarocoo’s on Instagram for more information.

I started my meal with the Caprese salad of fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, and beefsteak tomatoes.

I enjoyed the Capricciosa pie with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, shiitake mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto, olives, and basil for my main course.

Madame Violette is a delicious vegan pizza. Don’t skip out on the Nutella Calzone With Strawberries or Almonds.

Front Street Pizza offers slices and calzones in a prime corner spot. Near the York Street Metro Station, the pizzeria is open until 8:00 pm nightly.

In addition to pizza, the restaurant has a full bar for guests to enjoy beer and cocktails. The menu is extensive, so it is an excellent option for groups with diverse tastes.

Try the Front Street Special The Work’s Pie, with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, onions, black olives, and extra cheese.

The Hawaiian Pie and the Eggplant Pie are both delicious. The traditional pepperoni pizza is one of the most popular menu items with locals. Try the garlic knots and the ham and swiss pinwheels.

My Little Pizzeria has a nice outdoor patio space with colorful umbrellas. The no-frills pizzeria serves slices and whole pies. The restaurant is open until 10:00 pm nightly.

Locals rave about the timely and hot delivery offered by My Little Pizzeria. The restaurant is good for a quick bite or for solo dining.

Try the Garden Square Pizza with homemade fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, and olive oil. The calzone with mozzarella and ricotta is delicious.

The vegetable pizza with broccoli and spinach is unique and tasty. Add a house salad or garlic knots to go with your pizzas.

Brooklyn’s Homeslice Pizza is on the border of Downtown Brooklyn and the Fort Greene neighborhood.

The pizzeria is a compact counter-serve eatery that offers both thin-crust and Sicilian-style pizzas along with calzones and heroes.

Brooklyn’s Homeslice Pizza is open from 11:30 pm to at least 9:00 pm daily. The pizzeria is a perfect place to order delivery or stop by for a quick bite in the restaurant.

When I visited the pizzeria, I enjoyed the Butchers Blend Pie with meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, and bacon bits.

Also, try the Spinaci Bianco Pie with spinach, mozzarella, and ricotta. I recommend the Philly Cheesesteak Hero and the Bronx Tale Calzone with broccoli rabe, ricotta, provolone, and mozzarella.

Fresh 99 cents pizza is a straightforward counter-serve pizzeria specializing in no-frills pies with various toppings. It is open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.

A classic cheese slice of pizza is just 99 cents! The fast-casual pizzeria is a great place to swing by for lunch.

When I visited, I added pepperoni and mushrooms to my cheese slice for a delicious bite. The pepperoni pie and the black olive pie are always ready and are only about two dollars for a slice.

What’s great is that the pizza is made fresh all day, so no matter when you pick up a slice it will be hot and tasty. The special is two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for only $2.75.


From creative toppings to wood-fired pies, pizzerias in Downtown Brooklyn are serving up delicious and comforting pies for dine-in, takeout, or delivery.
