From the Brooklyn Bridge and Coney Island to the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York is full of iconic attractions, a celebrated arts and music scene, and amazing experiences. It is also quickly becoming one of the more popular boroughs.

The city’s food scene is something spectacular as well. I was familiar with the legendary Brooklyn-style pizza during my first visit to the city, as most are. However, I had no idea the Brooklyn steakhouses would be the dining experience I truly treasured.  Read on to learn more about the best steak in Brooklyn that you simply cannot miss out on.

Salt & Charcoal is a unique spot that has people from all over New York rushing to its doors. Located in Williamsburg, Salt + Charcoal is a Japanese Grill that serves Japanese-inspired starters and seafood alongside their charcoal-grilled beef. They have a dark, moody interior with multiple dining rooms as well as a full bar where guests can sample original cocktails and specially paired wines. If you stop by Salt + Charcoal for dinner, you should try the Salt + Charcoal Crab Cake to start, as well as any of their Wagyu beef sushi. For the main course, try the A5 Wagyu beef steak or the 30 days dry-aged Jyukusei New York Strip Steak, with a side of cheese fries or organic grilled veggies.

For a truly excellent Brooklyn steak, you must stop by Peter Luger Steak House across from the Weylin event center and next to Baby’s All Right for that classic NYC steakhouse experience.  This restaurant has a rich history dating back to 1887 when it began as a cafe, billiards and bowling alley. They have a time-honored family tradition of personally visiting wholesale markets and selecting the finest cuts of USDA Prime beef. They also have a signature dry-aged process that ensures the steak here is some of the best in town. Peter Luger Steak House has daily luncheon specials until 3:45pm which include classics like pot roast, roast prime ribs, and chopped steak. Guests can start with an appetizer like Luger’s signature Sliced Tomato with Luger’s Own sauce or Luger’s Sizzling Bacon. The dessert selection is extensive, with options like Chocolate Mousse, Fruit Tarts, and Apple Strudel all with homemade whipped cream.

Start your meal with five jumbo barbeque shrimp or fresh asparagus bundles wrapped in bacon. Bordeaux is located in the Midwood area of Brooklyn and it’s an intimate kosher, American steakhouse. The spectacularly crafted menu is created by executive chef Zack Hess, an innovative chef who studied at the Culinary Institute of Art. Desserts are crafted by in-house executive pastry chef Sarit Gruberg and include confections like Bourbon Smores, Lotus Cheesecake, and Strawberry Semifreddo. At Bordeaux, guests can choose from steaks such as 10oz Entrecote, 12oz prime fillet, a 25oz tomahawk prime ribeye, or a 40oz dry-aged prime ribeye. All steaks come with roasted garlic half and Bordeaux fries. They also have celebrated entrees like their T-rex Short Ribs braised overnight with charred corn on the cob, or their butterfly Atlantic salmon in a lemon white wine reduction.

St. Anselm is a cozy Brooklyn steakhouse with a warm ambiance that includes brass lighting features, trendy brick accents, and a raw wood bar. The prices are also incredibly affordable. The menu is fairly simplistic, although the quality is outstanding. St. Anselm serves up starters like artichoke hearts, grilled sardines, and wine-braised octopus on crostini. In addition to lamb, pork, pork, and fish entrees, they serve New York Strip steak, a butcher’s steak in garlic butter, and a 45-65oz Ax Handle Ribeye. Fill up your plate with sides like Grilled Berkshire Bacon, Fingerling Potatoes, and Scallions.

Amber Steak House

They have a wide range of wine and bourbon to pair with their extensive menu. It is a great place to have a family dinner or celebrate a special occasion. Their raw bar is exceptional, with seafood towers, crab salad, and shrimp cocktail. Amber Steak House serves up Certified Angus beef which is broiled at 1700 degrees and finished with butter for maximum flavor. They offer up cuts from an 8oz filet mignon with bordelaise sauce to a 48oz Porter House for two. The steak sandwich on crisp, warm baguette will melt in your mouth, and the rack of lamb in a wine demi-glaze is so good that it will haunt your dreams.

A Mediterranean-style steakhouse located in the Ditmas Park neighborhood, Atlas Steakhouse has been serving up authentic, upscale meals for affordable prices. They frequently host live music as well, making this a great place to hang out with friends or enjoy a night out on the town with your partner. The Lobster Bisque and French Onion soups are great ways to kick off the meal, followed by main courses like Shiitake Porcini Pasta, Chilean Sea Bass, or an expertly cooked Branzino. Atlas steak options include the typical filet mignon, T-bone prime, or skirt steak, as well as veal chops and lamb steaks.

Head on down to Boro Park to check out The Loft Steakhouse, a stylish restaurant that offers up cozy, romantic vibes and an upscale dining experience. The executive chef, Chef Boris Poleschuk, is known for his fresh, gourmet ingredients that provide flavors and influences from Asia, India, and the Mediterranean. It is also strictly kosher. The Loft has a variety of grill items like Blackened Ribeye and Skirt steak in chimichurri and Korean glaze, and main courses such as Bourbon BBQ Beef Ribs and slow-roasted brisket served with a side of cajun fries and seasonal vegetables. You don’t want to sleep on any of the mouthwatering desserts, either. I highly recommend the Donut Bowl or the Loft Churros. This is a great place to spend a birthday. The Loft offers birthday packages for up to three people, which consist of tacos, steak, dessert, fresh smoothies, and a special birthday sparkler.

T Steakhouse

T-Fusion is known in the Marine Park neighborhood as one of the finest kosher steakhouses in the area. They have a wide range of specials including Sangria Saturdays or a free Corona with the purchase of an entree during the summer months. Come in on your birthday and get a surprise, or come to the restaurant with a date for a free dessert. I recommend you start your meal with T-Fusion’s signature Charcuterie Boards, which feature creative pizza-like concoctions. You also can’t go wrong with one of their fusion sandwiches, or any of their steaks. The 18oz Cowboy and the 23oz Delmonico are solid options, as is the 40oz King Cut for two. As for beverages, they have over 375 bottles of wine to choose from, as well as a full bar with creative cocktails to pair with your meal. 


Hunter’s Steak & Ale House

For over 30 years, Hunter’s Steak & Ale House has been serving up high-quality dry-aged steaks in the Bay Ridge neighborhood near Shore Road Park and Parkway. They are a cozy spot where friends and neighbors come to enjoy a pint and relax. Hunter’s is a great place for comfort food, with dishes like Shepherd’s Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, and Chicken Parmigiana. They also serve a mean Triple Decker Chicken Club and the Hunter’s Supreme Burger which will (figuratively) knock your socks off. The steak selection is extensive. Choose from porterhouse, T-bone, ribeye, or filet mignon, as well as a filling surf & turf.
