A trip to NYC isn’t complete without visiting the NYC beer gardens. From authentic NYC cuisine to traditional German menus, NYC beer gardens have something for everybody.
You can find NYC beer gardens throughout the city, but I’ve compiled a list of the best ones. Save yourself the time of searching, and find your new favorite dining spot today.

The Standard Biergarten

The Standard Biergarten is a traditional German restaurant in the West Village. It is right under the High Line, at Little W 12th St and Washington St. It has a family-friendly vibe, and kids can eat free with the Sunday menu for children.
I recommend the giant Bavarian pretzel, which comes with mustard and Obatzter cheese spread, a tasty German classic. Pair your snack with the Von Trapp Radler, Allagash white, or Kostritzer pale ale.
Clinton Hall

Clinton Hall is a hip gastropub beer garden with three locations. The Williamsburg location is right on Metropolitan Ave, the Financial District location is across from West Thames Park.
And the Midtown East location is not far from Rockefeller Center. There is also a Clinton Hall next to the iconic Empire State building and one near the Bronx Zoo.
Make sure to order a delicious craft burger when you visit Clinton Hall. I like the fondue burger, which comes with a cheese fondue-filled bun.
Radegast Hall & Biergarten

Radegast Hall & Biergarten is a rustic restaurant near Williamsburg Bridge. It is on the corner of N 3rd St and Berry St in the Williamsburg neighborhood, and it has a fun atmosphere with frequent live music. They serve German cuisine with vegetarian options.
Order the fan-favorite Hungarian goulash for dinner, or get latkes and eggs with hunter-style bacon for brunch.
I like to go to Radegast for the live music, so check the schedule and see if a performance is coming up.
The Yard at Threes Brewing

The Yard at Threes Brewing is a beer garden with a trendy atmosphere, and it is on Douglass St and 4th Ave, in Gowanus, not far from the Gowanus Canal.
The Yard features modern NYC cuisine and has a great selection of seafood. It has a dimly-lit tavern vibe, and it is a location you will not want to miss.
I recommend the tuna burger, which comes with a large order of fries, or the fish tacos. Remember to order a tasty beer, which comes in a trendy pop-art-inspired can.
Bohemian Hall

Head down to the Ditmars Steinway neighborhood in Queens to enjoy a beer at Bohemian Hall. The Biergarten has a casual, outdoor vibe, and you can dine outside in the beautiful tree-shaded garden. Bohemian Hall serves bratwurst and Czech beer on 24th Ave and 31st St, not far from Astoria Park.
Order off the grill menu for the best dishes, including sausages with rye bread or a pretzel bun, bratwurst and French fries, and spicy Andouille sausage.
Brooklyn Beer Garden

Brooklyn Beer Garden is in Bushwick, Brooklyn, on Wyckoff Ave and Starr St. It has a hip atmosphere and serves trendy Brooklyn-style beers.
It is near the famous Bushwick Collective, so stop and see some street art while you’re there. I recommend the Brooklyn Cider House Kinda Dry Cider.
It has a distinct apple flavor and a hint of sweetness. The Mermaid Pilsner lager is also excellent, especially if you like a little bit of spice.
Loreley Beer Garden

Off of Bowery and Rivington St, Loreley Beer Garden is a German tavern with a lively atmosphere. It is near the New Museum on the Lower East Side, and it has everything from cocktails to German beer to bar food.
You will not want to miss happy hour, which runs at different times each day. Enjoy $2 off of beer and $25 pitchers.
Order schnitzel, seafood, tacos, burgers, and more for dinner. I recommend potato pancakes with applesauce and lingonberries.
Spritzenhaus33

Spritzenhaus33 is a fantastic place to visit for German food and beer. It is on the edge of McCarren Park, at Nassau Ave and Guernsey St in Greenpoint.
The large European-style tables give it a communal vibe. I like the Krainerwurst sausage on a pretzel bun, and I pair it with a cold draft beer.
You can make a reservation or walk right into the friendly beer garden. Don’t visit Spritzenhaus33 without trying the Belgian fries, a crowd favorite!
Treadwell Park

Go uptown to visit Treadwell Park, a hip German beer garden in Lenox Hill. It’s close to the Central Park Zoo at 1st Ave., and E 62nd St. Treadwell Park has a fun feel to it, and you can play ping pong and pinball while you enjoy a German draft beer.
Even though it is mainly a German restaurant, Treadwell Park cuisine is international. I like to order the braised beef brisket tacos, but you can also choose jambalaya, fish, and chips, or fettuccine.
Berry Park

If you are a sports fan, Berry Park is the beer garden for you. It has a European beer list, and it’s a few streets over from the East River in Greenpoint. On Berry St and N 14th St, Berry Park is a beer garden with a fun vibe.
Watch a sporting event on Berry Park’s TVs on the Roof, and sip an Easy Peasy gin cocktail. Or, go for a more classic German wheat beer and choose the Schofferhofer Grapefruit.
Bowery Beer Garden

Bowery Beer Garden is a casual bar in the Chinatown neighborhood, and it’s on Bowery and Hester St, near the iconic Manhattan Bridge.
The cuisine is Asian-American fusion, ranging from Shinka rice bowls to spicy fried chicken sandwiches. The ramen is a crowd favorite, and you have to try the Borrego Birra ramen bowl.
I recommend trying the loaded Niku nachos. Their burgers are also fantastic and come with a hearty serving of French fries.
Greenwood Park

Greenwood Park is a former gas station in Greenwood Heights that is now a beer garden. It’s next to the Prospect Expressway, near the Butterfly Gardens.
The cuisine is American with a casual vibe, and it’s on 7th Ave and 20th St. On my visit to NYC, I tried the vegetable panini at Greenwood Park.
It comes with grilled eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, mozzarella, and balsamic, and it’s a fantastic dish. You can also order burgers, pizzas, and bar snacks, paired with a hard cider or spiked Irish cream coffee.
Grimm Artisanal Ales

Order a Brooklyn-made ale at Grimm Artisanal Ales in East Williamsburg on Metropolitan Ave. Grimm is near Cooper Park, and it has an artistic atmosphere.
The beers have trendy flavors, and the beer cans all come in beautiful pop-art designs. I love the Four Ever Rainbow, a dry-hopped sour, and the Passion Fruit Pop, a pop-style sour.
Grimm Artisanal Ales also has a rotating selection of local snacks and pastries, so check to see what is in season.
Harlem Tavern

Harlem Tavern in Central Harlem is a great place to enjoy an upscale evening. It’s close to Morningside Park, on Frederick Douglass Blvd and W 117th St, and the beer garden has a lively atmosphere. The cuisine features seafood, bar food, and brunch.
I came to Harlem Tavern for lunch on my NYC trip and had the truffle burger with crispy onions and mozzarella. It paired perfectly with a spiked punch, but you could choose one of their classic summer ales instead.
Randolph Beer DUMBO

Randolph Beer DUMBO is a beer garden in Dumbo near the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. It has self-serve craft beers and American food, and it’s on the corner of Pearl St and Prospect St. The vibe is modern and fun, and it’s a spot you won’t want to miss.
For lunch, order a cantina bowl with cauliflower rice, peppers, black beans, and avocado, and don’t forget to add a side of their famous fries. Or, try a classic burger.
NYC beer gardens are one of the best things to do in the city. Whether you prefer historic locations or hip new spots, there is a beer garden for everyone.
