White Plains Restaurants You Should Be Dining At This Week

Enjoy amazing food at our favorite spots around the city.

Less than an hour drive from New York City, White Plains is a Westchester County fixture. This mid-sized city is warm and welcoming, with plenty of things to do and see.

Whether you’re into cultural attractions, shopping, or the great outdoors, you’ll find exciting places to suit your fancy in White Plains.

Love golf? Spend time at the public golf course. To meet the locals, you can’t do better than perusing the offerings at the local farmer’s markets.

One of the things I most enjoyed during my White Plains trip was the culinary scene. Check out my list of the best restaurants in White Plains, New York below!


Buon Amici Italian Restaurant

Eat lunch or dinner at Buon Amici Italian Restaurant at least once while you’re in White Plains, and you will make yourself at home! It’s easy to do. I can attest to how friendly and welcoming the waitstaff are here.

And the food is just as wonderful. There’s a whole host of scrumptious traditional Italian meals here, including Parmigiana, Eggplant Rollatini, Linguine with Red or White Clam Sauce, and Meat or Cheese Tortellini Alfredo or Bolognese.

As well as pasta dishes, there are veal, seafood, and chicken creations available. Buon Amici is easy to find. It’s situated just a block away from the Westchester County Center, on Central Avenue.

Don’t be fooled by the name: KEE Oyster House goes far beyond just oysters (as fantastic as they are).

Located just a few miles from Mamaroneck Avenue on East Post Road, KEE Oyster House offers a wide range of outstanding dishes.

I’m a big seafood enthusiast, so I was looking forward to my dinner here. KEE Oyster House is a White Plains fixture owned by proud locals.

I was immediately struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere at KEE Oyster House. This popular local restaurant has a casual atmosphere, tasty food, and a well-known bar program.

Oyster connoisseurs always visit KEE Oyster House while in White Plains. This restaurant offers six types of oysters, and they’re all shucked to order.


Benjamin Steakhouse

I chose Benjamin Steakhouse for one of my first meals in White Plains. I was craving a juicy steak, and this local restaurant has top-notch steak dishes a-plenty.

Westchester Magazine has named Benjamin Steakhouse as the winner of the Best Steakhouse and Best Rib Eye award.

The dishes here are created by Chef McLeod, a steak expert. All the beef here is dry-aged, prime-grade.

I ordered the Filet Mignon, and it was superb. This culinary establishment also offers outstanding fresh seafood dishes, such as Chilean Sea Bass and the legendary Seafood Platter.

I highly recommend making your reservations in advance so you can get a table near the fireplace. You’ll find Benjamin Steakhouse less than a mile from the sophisticated Metropolis Country Club.


Graziella’s

Graziella’s is an essential White Plains destination for Italian cuisine. I loved the food here, and I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices.

They’re especially impressive when you look at how enormous the servings are! I tried the Veal Chops and they were great. You can’t go wrong with this classic dish.

Are you traveling with the kids? Graziella’s is one of the best places to bring them for a meal. One of Graziella’s strengths is its wide-ranging appeal.

No matter what kind of dish you prefer, you’ll find something to love at this White Plains institution. Graziella’s is easy to find on Church Street, just a minute away from Residence Inn by Marriott White Plains.


The Brazen Fox

The Brazen Fox has been a favorite with locals and tourists alike since 2007. As well as a restaurant focusing on traditional American cuisine.

The Brazen Fox is a hot local spot for happy hour. In fact, this establishment’s happy hour is one of its most popular attractions.

Head over to Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains to spend an evening enjoying delicious food and kicking back at The Brazen Fox. Beer lovers adore The Brazen Fox. This restaurant and bar offers a wide variety of beers.

This White Plains restaurant serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. I had dinner there and ordered the Shepherd’s Pie. It was yummy and a true rendition of the classic British dish.

You’re in good hands at Lilly’s. This restaurant is the creation of well-known restaurateurs Brian Mahon and Paul Dillane, and chef Tyler Jacobs designs and oversees all the dishes.

The New York Times has written about this restaurant, lauding its fresh ingredients and culinary sophistication.

There are so many popular dishes here it’s hard to know where to start. How do Gnocchi, Fried Chicken, Short Rib Pizza, and Fish Tacos sound? What about Eggs Benedict, Caesar Salad, and French Toast Napoleon?

Whether it’s small plates or artisan pizzas or other popular options, there’s something for you at Lilly’s.

I enjoyed the style of Lilly’s decor, with its distinctly vintage vibe. There’s a patio too, so you can choose to seat out there if you’d like!


The Iron Tomato

I discovered The Iron Tomato after an exciting morning of retail therapy at Galleria White Plains, a fantastic local shopping center.

The drive is just one minute and it’s more than worth the effort. This deli is all about a delicious and satisfying meal in casual and welcoming surroundings.

When I had lunch at The Iron Tomato, I went with the Smoked Turkey Sandwich. I love smoked meat, and I wasn’t disappointed there.

This tastebud-tingling sandwich features smoked turkey, cucumber dill creamy dressing, alfalfa sprouts, cream Havarti, and bacon.

If Hot Sandwiches are more your thing, check out the Sausage & Peppers. I happened to overhear some locals raving about it!


Mulino’s of Westchester

The finest cuisine from the north of Italy is ready for you at Mulino’s of Westchester. This restaurant is located quite near Mitchell Place.

There are a plethora of delicious dishes here, including Stuffed Pork Chop, Seafood Tower, Scallops, Tortellini, Mushroom Risotto, and Fruitti Di Mare.

I was hugely impressed by this award-winning restaurant, and Mulino’s of Westchester is easy to find on Court Street. I can never resist a delectable pasta dish, and there are many such creations to choose from here.

In the end, I selected the Garganelli Carbonara. This delicious option features Garganelli pasta, pancetta, parmigiano reggiano, and eggs.


Sapori

Sapori is among the best Mediterranean-focused culinary establishments in White Plains. This restaurant combines imported and locally sourced ingredients, everything delectably fresh.

For a cozy yet sophisticated lunch or dinner with excellent service, you can’t do better than a visit to this eating spot.

I found Sapori does an outstanding job of combining a laid-back atmosphere with elegant style. This restaurant exudes an Old World style.

You may just feel you’re stepping across the Atlantic. As well as top-notch cuisine, Sapori offers an impressive wine list and intriguing cocktails.

I tried one of the best-known dishes here, the Rigatoni Bolognese. Go ahead and order this beautifully presented and delicious dish.


Alex’s Bar & Grille

No doubt about it, there’s no shortage of outstanding Italian cuisine destinations in White Plains. Alex’s Bar & Grille ranks high on the list, and it offers something for every taste and mood.

Alex’s Bar & Grille offers both classic Italian dishes and juicy steaks. There’s a nice selection of appetizers, soups, and salads on the menu, to get you started.

I had the Shrimp Cocktail and Caesar Salad with Sliced Tomato & Onion. Yummy! For my entree, I went with the Chicken Parmesan.

I highly recommend everything this restaurant has to offer. So head over to Alex’s Bar & grille on North Broadway just about a minute away from Harwood Avenue.

Love fun food like onion rings, hot dogs, and fries? Look no further than Walter’s Hot Dogs. This is a fantastic spot for a quick yet satisfying meal during your White Plains adventures.

Head on over for a tasty treat on Mamaroneck Avenue near East Post Road. You can enjoy your meal in the casual seating space or grab a meal to go.

The New York Times declared Water’s Hot Dogs “tops the list of best hot dogs in America.” And I’ve got to agree.

This legendary hot dog spot has been around for more than a century. The hot dogs are made with a special blend of pork, beef, and even veal. And don’t forget the scrumptious secret sauce.


Final Thoughts

Take your time exploring White Plains and taking in everything the city has to offer. Check out the show schedule at White Plains Performing Arts Center and do some retail therapy at The Westchester, the legendary local shopping mall.
