Jackson Square is the place to be on New Years Eve in NOLA! This historic park in the French Quarter is where the New Orleans’ version of the ball drop occurs, but instead, NOLA’s classic Fleur de Lis drops at midnight!
The party at Jackson Square includes live music and fireworks after midnight. The Shops at Jax Brewery will show the Dick Clark Rockin’ New Years Eve Countdown as well! It’s free to join, but you’ll want to get there early if you don’t want to sit on the sidelines.
New Years Eve Bourbon Street Balcony

Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade
Every New Years Day, the Allstate Sugar Bowl takes place – but the day before, on New Years Eve, they host the Allstate Sugar Bowl Parade! This Mardis Gras style parade features floats, bands, and other attractions.
The parade route goes through the French Quarter, past many NOLA historic landmarks, and ends at Canal Street. The parade starts at 2 PM on New Years Eve day, so it’s a great pre-party event, or you can get the party started early!
Big Night New Orleans NYE Gala
The Hyatt Regency, New Orleans hostess their Big Night New Orleans New Years Eve Party! This year, the event runs from 9:00 PM to 1:30 AM. This party includes a huge lineup of DJs and bands – this year the lineup includes Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, DJ Paola Shea, and more!
The Hyatt Regency plans for a big celebration as the clock strikes midnight, and they offer party favors for guests. You can also stay the night at the hotel for a safe and short commute home! Find tickets here.
NYE Balcony Party at NOLA Cookery

Ring in the New Year on the Mississippi River! New Orleans is home to various riverboat companies that offer NYE parties on the river.
The Paddlewheeler Creole Queen is hosting a two hour cruise from 11 PM to 1 AM on New Years Eve, complete with hors d’oeuvres, a buffet, an open bar, live entertainment, and a champagne toast at midnight while you watch the fireworks over the river.

DJ Soul Sister’s 19th Annual New Year’s Eve Soul Train rolls back into Civic Theatre in NOLA. Tickets always sell out so grab yours now here! The event starts at 10 PM and lasts into the New Year until 2 AM. Premium tickets include an open bar on the balcony, premium balcony access with seating available, and a champagne toast at midnight.
LGBTQ Events on Bourbon Street
New Orleans is home to some of the oldest gay bars in the country, and there are plenty of LGBTQ+ parties on New Years Eve! Check out the lower section of Bourbon Street starting around the 800 block for some amazing nightlife! Expect New Years Eve parties with DJs, dancing, and even drag cabarets.

Tipitana’s is one of New Orleans most popular bars to celebrate the New Year! This year, Tipitana’s is hosting a Galactic New Years Eve featuring Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph.

As you can see, New Year’s Eve in a city like New Orleans is on a whole other level. There are so many places to party and watch fireworks around the city that it’s almost impossible to have a bad time on NYE in New Orleans, especially if you head to any of the venues I listed above.
