When you hear the word Nashville, you probably think of live music. After all, it’s known as Music City, USA, for a good reason. You may also think of hot fried chicken and the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame, but it’s also a culture that prizes gathering with friends, enjoying cold drinks and hot nibbles during a Nashville happy hour.
Happy hour is an integral part of life for me as an avid traveler who is often on a budget. It’s a special present from the restaurant to see good happy hour deals available as long as I visit during their specified times. I love cozying up to a restaurant bar with half-price snacks, preferably full of carbs that will soak up a discount cocktail or two.
Whether you’re a Nashville local or a tourist in tow for a day or two, there’s a happy hour drink special waiting for you. Check out my list of spots with the best happy hour in Nashville below!

M.L. Rose Craft Beer & Burgers
Specializing in craft beer and excellent pub food, M.L. Rose Craft Beer & Burgers is making a name for itself. It has three locations across Nashville, TN, with restaurants in Melrose, Sylvan Park, and Capital View, plus the latest location in Mt. Juliet.
The food is affordable, and M.L. Rose boasts regular specials and a happy hour from Monday to Friday 3 PM to 6 PM with $1 off appetizers, wine, liquor, and beer. My favorite appetizer was an item called Bottle Caps. It’s fried pickles, okra, and jalapenos with a homemade ranch sauce that’s great for dipping. Pair that with a craft beer, and it’s a great start to the evening.
1416 4th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Only a block from Morgan Recreation Center in Germantown, Butchertown Hall specializes in cocktails, beer, and American barbeque. The restaurant has a beautiful patio to kick back on if the weather is nice, and both take-out and dine-in are available.
It’s not just their barbeque that makes it worth a visit. Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 5 PM, enjoy their happy hour mention as well as an extended Happy Hour on Sundays from 2 to 6 PM. Try the brisket tacos or crispy riblets with an espresso red barbeque sauce and wash it down with a regular or frozen Margherita.
2316 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
When you’re looking for a blend of American farmhouse cuisine with good drink specials, look no further than Josephine, located in the 12 South neighborhood on the crossroads of Elmwood Ave and 12 Ave South. Headed by James Beard semi-finalist Chef Andy Little, the menu blends the soul of rustic cooking, which utilizes every part of the animal or vegetable.
The menu offers a wide selection; try the perfect date night meal of the Josphine Chicken for Two with crispy potato and sides like perfectly cooked kale. Happy hour runs Wednesday to Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a selection of beer and wine on sale and cheap eats like the delicious double cheeseburger.
2600 8th Ave S Suite 102, Nashville, TN 37204
If you want to dine in an upscale fashion while on a budget, Sinema on 8th Ave South in the historic Melrose theater is a restaurant and bar to try. While the luxury interior gives a rich feeling, Sinema offers plenty of specials to stretch the dollar a bit further.
From 5 PM to 7 PM, Tuesday to Friday, Sinema offers their happy hour with discounts on select beer, wine, and cocktails. Pair a discount cocktail with tasty apps like handmade agnolotti—
ricotta-filled ravioli. On weekends, indulge in their bottomless brunch with bottomless mains until you’ve had your fill and drinks.
4708 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209
Sitting on Charlotte Ave. between 47th and 48th Ave, just down from hot yoga, Hathorne is a beautiful modern restaurant for casual get-togethers and date nights. They balance a minimalist decor of wood and pops of color on white walls, which is reflected in their cuisine.
Drink specials are available during happy hour from 5 PM to 6 PM Wednesday to Saturday, including discounts on beer and reduced prices for spirits, cocktails, and even $10 off bottles of wine. Pair with a larger plate of beautifully seared gulf sun shrimp or small plates of golden beets and hamachi crudo.
701 Craighead St, Berry Hill, TN 37204
This family-friendly Italian restaurant on Craighead St is two restaurants in one. Mangia is a trendy Italian dinner spot during the week, and then on Friday and Saturday, it transforms into a reservations-only 5-course Italian feast hotspot.
Tuesday to Friday, enjoy $1 off appetizers and pizzas during happy hour 4 PM to 6 PM plus daily food and drinks specials throughout the week like Pie & a Pint Mondays where pints are only $2. My favorite was the Pizza Alla Vodka signature pie with vodka cream sauce, either with or without a gluten-free crust.
2934 Sidco Dr #130, Nashville, TN 37204
After an afternoon at the Country Music Hall of Fame just a few miles away or perhaps in the morning before you set off for the day, stop by for a quick bite and a coffee (or boozy brunch drink) at Stay Golden Restaurant. It’s more than just a coffee shop, though. It’s excellent food and great drink in a fantastic environment.
Monday to Thursday, check out their happy hour drink specials with two-person carafes of delicious bloody marys or one of their many prosecco bar cocktails. I enjoyed their Reuben sandwich full of pastrami with a side order of crispy potatoes to go with my drink.
The Sutler Saloon
2600 8th Ave S #109, Nashville, TN 37204
Southern food and hospitality with plenty of bluegrass music are available in the heart of Melrose at the Sutler Saloon on 8th Ave South next to the Melrose Billiard Parlor. This is a bar with the soul of a gastropub with live music, tasty cocktails, and nibbles all night long.
If you’re looking for cheap drinks to tide you over until the music begins, look no further than half-price signature cocktails, draft beer, and glasses of wine Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM. Breakfast brunch is served Friday to Sunday, 10 AM to 3 PM, and you can’t go wrong with their shrimp and grits; they’re heavenly.
2023 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203
Next door to Vanderbilt University, Henley is a modern American brasserie, the brainchild of Chopped Champion Executive Chef Kristin Beringson. Henley serves french food without all the pomp and circumstance. Instead, they focus on French technique, Mediterranean flavors, and southern soul.
A true indication of a relaxed yet refined atmosphere is how a restaurant handles happy hour, offered Sunday to Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM in Henley’s case. A variety of drinks are on special and smoked cheddar cheese & pepper pork rinds or herbed goat cheese dip with pitas. Try them both while catching up with friends.
Nicky’s Coal Fired
5026 Centennial Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209
A stone’s throw from the Tennessee State University Campus in the Nations building, Nicky’s Coal Fired has been providing Italian (and specifically pizza) to West Nashville since 2016, regularly ranking as some of the best pizza in America. Run by a husband and wife team with plenty of culinary experience, this restaurant should be the place to go for all important dates.
For half-price pizzas, heavily discounted cocktails, and drinks, visit Nicky’s Monday to Thursday from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. When I visited, I tried their vegan pizza, the ‘Be-Hive Pep’ with coconut-based mozzarella and plant-based pepperoni. It blew me away. Thanks to the cook from the coal-fired ovens, I didn’t miss the meat at all.
With eight locations in Tennessee, including one in Germantown and a newly opened location in Alabama, Jonathan’s Grille brings the American sports bar experience at a reasonable price range to the south.
Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM get select appetizers for $6 during their happy hour plus daily specials and reduced prices 10 PM until close. Try their house-made pepperoni pizza rolls or fried pickles with horseradish sauce & ranch to start a great meal or just as a snack with friends.
2403 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
Sat on a crossroads between Elmwood Ave and 12th Ave South with plenty of shopping options nearby, Bottle Cap boasts that it’s a neighborhood hang, and the vibe it gives off is precisely that. This is well-done traditional pub fare with healthy options and plenty of food that will warm you after a less-than-great day.
Specials nights are ongoing for sporting events, live acoustic music, and more. Happy hour is from 7 PM to close, which includes 2-for-1 Tito’s and 2-for-1 domestic beers. Specials change all the time, though, so keep an eye on the website. If you want a menu starting point, I recommend the pimento cheeseburger with smash patties—delicious.
2909B Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
In 2018, East Nashville, or East Row Hill, specifically gained a new occupant. That was Walden, a neighborhood cocktail bar with plenty of beer taps, affordable signature cocktails that change according to the seasons, and a dog-friendly patio.
The food menu is short and focuses on the snacks that will soak up all the delicious spirits you’ll be ingesting, and that’s okay. Their happy hour runs from 5 PM to 7 PM every day, with an all-day happy hour on Tuesdays. Try a discounted draft cocktail with seasoned popcorn or a simple cheese pizza.
708 Monroe St, Nashville, TN 37208
Nestled in the heart of Germantown, Germantown Pub has a warm and accepting atmosphere even to those new to the area who come in to watch a game or unwind with a few drinks. During dinner service, Germantown Pub is kid-friendly, so bring the whole family.
Enjoy drinks on a budget with their happy hour every day from 3 PM to 7 PM with discounts on drafts, drinks, and house wine. To soak up those drinks, I recommend the pork chop sandwich or the GTP chicken & waffles with honey butter if you’re starving.
Bar Louie – Nashville
314 11th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Part of the Gulch neighborhood only a mile or two from downtown Nashville and just blocks from the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bar Louie is a stop-in after work or shopping spot with a warm pub atmosphere and plenty of drink specials.
During the week, there’s happy hour Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM, which includes reduced prices for domestic and craft drafts and half-off select bar bites. My go-to option was one of the many flatbreads on offer or their flash-fried crispy calamari with giardiniera (pickled vegetables) aioli.
2907 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
Mickey’s Tavern on Gallatin Pike in a neighborhood full of music and clothing stores is a dive bar you’ll wish was in your neck of the woods. It’s dark and may appear to be a hole in the wall, but it’s a budget-friendly watering hole with pool tables, foosball, darts, a jukebox inside, and a deck outside.
This is the place to go and drink. Enjoy discounted spirits and two-for-one drinks during their happy hour, which runs Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM. They offer a small selection of food. I enjoyed their Cuban sandwich or order from their neighborhood sister eatery Nicoletto’s next door and ate at Mickey’s.
The original Tin Roof location sits near Music Row on Demonbreun Hill, surrounded by universities, office complexes, and plenty of places to visit if you’re visiting Nashville. Their sister location is downtown if you happen to be in that neighborhood. This is an American bar celebrating the bar atmosphere with live music and lots of daily specials.
Every day has a different special, but happy hour Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM is constant with discounts on draft, cocktails, and shots. Their “better than bar food” menu will help with all those budget-friendly drinks, and I suggest starting with a flavorful Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich.
313 Jefferson St, Nashville, TN 37208
Set in Germantown and not far from downtown Nashville, Neighbors sports and entertainment bar is a great place to watch a Nashville Predators game or meet with friends after work. The atmosphere is lively and friendly, with regular trivia and karaoke nights to keep things interesting.
From 3 PM to 7 PM, Monday to Friday, enjoy cheap beer, wine, and well drinks with special food menus on game nights and all day Saturday and Sunday. You can’t go wrong with their signature smoked wings and various dipping sauces, although you’ll want to try everything.
Nations Bar and Grill
705 51st Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209
As the name suggests, Nations Bar and Grill is in the Nations in West Nashville, close to a residential neighborhood full of exercise studios and dog parks. The bar is set in an old auto repair shop, and it’s keeping its retro roots alive with a beautiful historic sign out front that reminds residents and tourists about its heritage.
From 2 PM to 6 PM Monday to Friday, Nations offers a happy hour including discounted drinks and 25% off all easy eats with their selection of mouth-watering appetizers. Try their BYO Burger, also available as a Beyond Burger patty with free veggies, or add chili for only $2.
401 Union St, Nashville, TN 37219
On the 4th floor of the Fairlane Hotel, on the corner of Union St and 4th Ave N in the Arts District, sits Ellington’s, a beautiful and welcoming restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining space serving cheeky trendy food done right.
The whole menu is worth a mention but let’s start with the happy hour, which runs Monday to Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM, offering up $5 appetizers and discounts on craft cocktails and beers to go with it. You must try the Tattooed Lady cocktail with gin and lavender with an artisanal snack like pimento cheese dip and Bagelshop bagel chips.
The Goat Germantown
1220 2nd Ave N Suite 100, Nashville, TN 37208
In Germantown, near the Cumberland River, The Goat bar offers a neighborhood bar to grab drinks with friends or work colleagues or enjoy a few moments to watch a local game. The Goat has three other locations in Tennessee plus locations in Ohio for travelers.
There are plenty of options for those enjoying Nashville on a budget with happy hour Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 7 PM, and daily specials. If you’re in the area on Wednesday, I highly recommend their flatbreads for only $5. Try the roasted pepper & goat cheese, so good.
You’ll be spoiled for happy hour choices in Nashville, whether you’re focused on drink discounts or cheap eats. I enjoyed picking an area when I visited Nashville and then checking out a different spot each day for a different snack and a drink with friends.
