In 1987, Café Society opened in Memphis, and in 2007, Café Society welcomed new owner, Chef Cullen Kent, who studied the culinary arts in Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. With significant Belgian influences and a modern American twist, the restaurant has been pleasantly serving the people of the Evergreen Historic District in Midtown Memphis. Café Society offers many options for private gatherings. From small group accommodations for up to twenty-five people to a large group comprising up to forty-five guests. Additionally, if your group is more than one hundred people, a “restaurant buyout” is possible. I would recommend adding the bacon-wrapped shrimp and the pan-seared grouper to your event menu!
Since 2002, Central BBQ has ranked among the best barbecue joints in Memphis. The meats are smoked with hickory and pecan woods and slow-cooked for hours on end. Craig Blondis and Roger Sapp, the founders of Central BBQ, met at a competition, and the idea for Central BBQ was initiated. As a result, the restaurant has appeared on many television shows and in various magazines. The downtown Memphis location offers seating in The Memphis Room, a 100-person dining area for a private party, and the Kiss My Grits venue that seats up to sixty people. The downtown restaurant also offers The Shack, which comfortably seats up to thirty folks. My favorite dish is the BBQ Pork Nachos but make sure you don’t skip out on the full slab of ribs!

Located inside the famous Peabody Hotel, the Capriccio Grill is a renowned steakhouse in Memphis. Chef Andreas Kisler blends traditional Southern cuisine and contemporary American dishes for creative cooking. The Filet Mignon and the Spaghetti Bolognese are delicious options. The Capriccio Grill is immaculately decorated during the holidays, so I’d recommend planning your event during that season if possible. The Peabody and the Capriccio Grill host thousands of people for conferences and events annually. The immaculate interior with lush green carpets and extravagant columns is a breathtaking setting for a great meal. Be sure to plan your event around the marching of the Peabody ducks!

The restaurant is open nightly for dinner service. The private dining room offers a lovely white table-clothed room with shelves filled with wine. I recommend the seared diver scallop with vanilla sweet corn and chimichurri; the crispy duck leg confit is also delicious! I enjoyed the Belle Glos Las Alturas Vineyard, Santa Lucia Highlands 2019 pinot noir.

King’s music venue, the restaurant serves cocktails and Southern bites. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp and grits! For private dining accommodations, the restaurant holds a separate space from the main dining area. The draped curtains and the view overlooking Beale Street is beautiful. A long dining table extends the length of the room and creates a comfortable, family-orientated dining situation. It is a perfect venue for a wedding rehearsal dinner!
