But, if you’re looking for a Thai food spot, you probably know that it’s hard to come by one of great quality.
Fortunately, there are plenty of amazing Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. So many, in fact, that it can be tough to choose just one – which is why I set out to compile a list of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city, from casual spots to more upscale venues.
Ruen Pair

Located in the heart of Thai Town, Ruen Pair is open until 11:00 pm daily. The restaurant is popular with locals and residents alike and has served the community tasty dishes for more than twenty-five years.
I enjoyed the wonton-wrapped shrimp, the pork jerky, and the roasted duck curry. The spicy raw crab salad is a refreshing addition to your meal.
Ruen Pair has perfected its plate of pad thai, and it is one of the most popular items on the menu. The spicy eggplant platter is a wonderful representation of Thai cuisine.
Jitlada Restaurant

The Jitlada Restaurant is located in Little Armenia near the Barnsdall Art Park. Notably, Jitlada helped establish the Thai food scene in the 1970s when the late Chef Suthiporn “Tui” Sungkamee began preparing spicy southern Thai dishes for the community.
The restaurant is closed on Mondays but open for lunch and dinner on any other day of the week. They serve authentic and spicy Southern Thai cuisine, which features a myriad of seafood dishes.
When I visited Jitlada Restaurant, I enjoyed the pepper salmon appetizer, the coco blue crab soup, and the red snapper dry curry.
Other popular dishes include the crispy honey duck, the green tiger prawns, and the mango scallops.
Lum-Ka-Naad

Lum-Ka-Naad is a popular Thai restaurant with two locations–one in Northridge on Reseda Boulevard and the other in Encino on Ventura Boulevard.
Both locations open at 11:00 am daily and offer lunch and dinner service. The restaurant is open for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery.
My favorite dishes on the menu include the crispy tofu with a sweet and spicy sauce and the red coconut curry.
Local favorites include the pad see ew, the honey-roasted ribs, and the crab meat fried rice. The restaurant is a great place for friends to gather and enjoy a delicious meal.

Luv2eat Thai Bistro is a classic Thai restaurant for standard favorites in a modern dining room with additional outdoor seating.
It is near De Longpre Park and across the street from Crossroads of the World. The restaurant is open between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm.
Chef Fern and Chef Pla, who run the kitchen, are from Phuket, Thailand, bringing lived experiences to the restaurant.
The menu includes Phuket-style crab curry, spicy shrimp paste fried rice, and a Thai northern sausage dish that is also gluten-free. The tom yum soup and the fried noodles are also popular items with the restaurant regulars.

The restaurant is open from 11:00 am to 9:30 pm. Since 2002, Pa Ord Noodle has made tasty dishes for the community.
When I visited Pa Ord Noodle, I enjoyed the Tum Yum Noodle with ground and barbecue pork. Other noodle dishes include the Drunken Noodle and the tofu pad thai.
I also tried the papaya salad, an egg roll, and the larb. The restaurant is a great place to find traditional and adventurous Thai cuisine.
Ayara Thai Cuisine

Ayara Thai Cuisine is a local restaurant with an intimate vibe that is perfect for a date night. With modern Thai dishes across the menu, the kitchen uses home-grown herbs to spice up its stir-fry, curry, and noodle plates. Chef Andy Asapahu and his wife Anna share dishes with the community they enjoyed as children.
I enjoyed Thai iced tea, the glass noodle salad, and the lobster pad Thai when I visited. Other local favorites include the Thai sweet and sour shrimp from the wok and the green curry with chicken. Be sure to try the flan for dessert!

Saladang is a modern restaurant that serves traditional Thai food. The restaurant is located in the Bellefonte neighborhood near Central Park and is open daily between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.
The restaurant owner, Dang Vattanatham, combined her name with the Thai word “sala” or meeting place.
Try the yellow curry with potatoes and carrots. For a tasty noodle dish, try the chow mein with egg noodles, cabbage, carrots, bok choy, snow peas, green onions, and bean sprouts.
The garlic and black pepper chicken stir fry is one of the restaurant’s popular items. Finish your meal with a bowl of sweet and sticky coconut rice.
Northern Thai Food Club

Northern Thai Food Club is an authentic eatery serving classic dishes with traditional expertise in the Thai Town neighborhood of Los Angeles, just off Sunset Boulevard. The restaurant is open for dine-in or take-out daily from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm.
The menu has a “fun bites” section that is great for guests interested in trying some creative Thai dishes.
For instance, I enjoyed the Kab Moo, which is crispy fried pork skin, and the Sai Oua, spicy pork sausage. Other popular menu items include Nam Prik Noom, a noodle dish, and Gaeng Ho with curry spices.

It is open between Monday and Saturday from noon to 9:00 pm. Pailin Thai Cuisine is a fun place to visit with your friends over tasty Thai foods.
I enjoyed the seafood fried rice, the crab meat with egg noodles, and the yellow curry. Other popular items include Thai iced coffee, shrimp tempura, and Thai blue crab salad.
From the appetizers to the curries to the restaurant specialties, so many options exist for customers to sample and enjoy!

Rodded Restaurant is located on Hollywood Boulevard by the Thai town community. It is small but cozy, with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere maintained by professional and friendly staff. The restaurant is open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm every day except Thursdays.
Try the fried shrimp ball, deep-fried and served with a sweet and spicy sauce. My favorite dish at Rodded Restaurant is the Pad See-Ew with Chinese broccoli, egg, and soy sauce.
Other menu items include Tom Yum Noodle with Pork, Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp or crab, and Crispy Wonton Rad Na.
Anajak Thai Cuisine

Anajak Thai Cuisine is a longstanding Thai eatery in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood that serves a diverse menu plus a full bar with beer and wine.
The kitchen uses seasonally inspired ingredients. Happy hour deals are offered during particular hours; the restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner.
The chef offers a cultivated omakase menu. For nearly forty years, the father and son duo that owns the restaurant has been serving incredible Thai dishes to the community.
Try the Southern Thai fried chicken or the dry-aged fish. Thai Taco Tuesdays are also a weekly event that locals flock to at Anajak!
Otus Thai Kitchen & Coffee

Otus Thai Kitchen & Coffee is a comfortable, light-filled cafe that serves not only classic Thai cuisine but also all-day breakfast and coffee. It is located near Plummer Park by Ralph’s grocery store.
The restaurant is open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Chef June Intrachat was born in Northern Thailand and pulled inspiration from her childhood to influence the menu at Otus Thai Kitchen.
My favorite dishes at the restaurant are the steamed basil mussels, the burnt brussels sprouts, and the old-fashioned fried rice.
One of the signature dishes at the eatery is the khao soi; a classic northern Thai coconut curry soup with thick egg noodles, pickled mustard, and cilantro.
Palm Thai Restaurant

Palm Thai Restaurant is a casual spot serving Thai eats with occasional appearances by an Elvis impersonator. The eatery is just steps from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The restaurant is open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. It has been highlighted by the New York Times as one of the best Thai spots in Los Angeles.
Start with the eggrolls or the fried tofu. For your entree, I recommend ordering the Panang curry, the chow mein, or the deep-fried trout with mango sauce.
Add a glass of wine or a pint of beer with your meal, or finish with a sweet treat like coconut ice cream.
Sapp Coffee Shop

The Sapp Coffee Shop opens at 8:00 am every day but Wednesdays. It is located in the heart of Thai Town by Barnsdall Art Park.
The Beef Boat Noodles with bean sprouts and crispy pork rinds is the signature dish that locals and visitors all flock to the restaurant to order!
Try the Sen Chan Pad Boo with garlic chili oil and crab meat or the Spicy Drunken Noodles with ground beef with Thai basil and tofu.
The classic Thai fried rice is a great option for those new to trying Thai cuisine. I’d also recommend trying the Preserved Egg Kra Pao, a classic Thai favorite.

Sanamluang Cafe is a no-frills diner that serves late-night Thai staples like duck salad and beef noodle soup.
The restaurant’s hip vibe brings in visitors to the Thai Town community. Sanamluang Cafe sits along the 270 and 180 bus lines on Hollywood Boulevard.
One of my favorite bites at Sanamluang Cafe is the Special Rad Nah, flat rice noodles with Chinese broccoli, chicken, pork, shrimp, and topped with a fried egg.
Other popular dishes include beef tendon and stew noodles and the pad prik king with fried chili, green beans, and curry sauce.
Sri Siam Cafe

Sri Siam Cafe has a great lunch special! For less than fifteen dollars, you can enjoy soup, an egg roll, rice, fruit, and a choice of entree.
I enjoyed the Panang curry for my entree, but would also recommend the chop suey! The spicy ribs are very tasty, and the lemon garlic wings are incredible.

Chao Krung is in the Fairfax community near the Original Farmer’s Market, a historic market with trendy stalls. The restaurant is open until 10:00 pm daily. The modern interior lends a classy yet casual vibe for guests to enjoy.
Try one of the restaurant’s small plates, like the garlic wings, chicken satay, or the wok-fried Brussel sprouts. I also enjoyed the Thai fried omelet over rice and the crab noodles.
The restaurant’s signature curry, the Jungle curry, is unique and flavorful. For larger groups, consider ordering one of the communal dishes like the basa fish with ginger and celery.
Sticky Rice

Since 2013, Sticky Rice has been serving the community authentic Thai cuisine. The restaurant has been highlighted by the Los Angeles Times and Bon Appetit magazine.
Sticky Rice has three locations in the area–Downtown, Echo Park, and Highland Park. All locations are open for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery.
When I visited Sticky Rice, I enjoyed the most Crying Tiger Steak with chili sauce. Local favorites include Pad See-Ew, Crab Fried Rice, and Yellow Chicken Curry.
When you visit, be sure to check out the specials menu, some often included items are Gai Yang BBQ chicken and mango sticky rice.
The Original Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle

My favorite dish at Wat Dong Moon Lek Noodle is the wonton noodle soup with chicken. I would also recommend ordering the pork dumplings, fried mussels, and lime peanut noodles. The plating of the food is beautiful and very Instagram-worthy!

Same Same Thai is located in the Sunset Lake neighborhood near Sunset Boulevard. It is open from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm daily. The eatery opened in 2016 and has since been praised by press outlets like the Los Angeles Times.
Some of the best menu items include Laab with minced chicken, mint, and cilantro, Khao Tom, a chicken and rice soup, and Pad Kee Mao, or Drunken Noodle with wide rice noodles and serrano pepper. Be sure to try the grilled ribeye steak with Thai spices and the crispy chicken with garlic rice.
