Lino’s is known for their homemade pasta dishes, such as their famous baked lasagna and spaghetti with garlic and oil.

I absolutely love the veal marsala, seafood risotto, and the Sicilian Eggplant. Each of these dishes is incredibly flavorful, and you can tell that the ingredients are fresh.

The ambiance is luxurious, and this is a great place to go for delicious cocktails and a relaxing evening with friends over quality food.

Every time you visit this spot, you’ll get a warm welcome, and the servers are always willing to make suggestions on some local favorites.  

Stockholm Inn is known for its Swedish meatballs, seafood chowder, and Swedish pancakes. They also have daily specials, a specialty gift shop, and a lovely bakery with fresh pastries.

The ambiance is casual and family-friendly, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with family or friends.

Standout dishes include duck and figs, butternut squash ravioli, and chicken dumplings. They all have unique flavor profiles, and you get a lot of food for the price.

Prairie Street Brewing Co. is a brewery and gastropub situated in a historic building that was once a factory. It sits near the Discovery Center Museum, overlooking the Rock River.

The decor is rustic and industrial, with casual, friendly vibes. They offer a range of craft beers made in-house, as well as a full bar and a menu of classic pub fare with a modern twist.

The menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, and shareable plates, including cheese curds, hummus, quesadillas, and more. Prairie Street Brewing Co. is one of the best restaurants in Rockford, Illinois, to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends.

It’s the perfect place to go for a business lunch or cocktails with friends. 

The menu offers a variety of classic American dishes with a unique spin, like the “Tavern Burger,” topped with smoked cheddar cheese and crispy onion straws, and the crisp BBQ chicken salad.

Locals frequently recommend the Jamaican scallops or the salmon quinoa, but I’m really a sucker for their apricot glazed rack of lamb, which is super tender and juicy.

GreenFire Restaurant Bar & Bakery is a farm-to-table establishment located near the Rockford Art Museum.

They offer American cuisine with a focus on using fresh and sustainable ingredients. The decor features natural elements and rustic charm, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. 

Some of their signature dishes include baby back ribs, duck confit, French chicken, and their wood-fired pizzas.

They also have a selection of baked goods made fresh daily, including artisan bread and pastries. GreenFire is known for excellent service, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere.

GreenFire mentions that your food may take a little longer to arrive, but it’s worth the wait; they’re spot on! 


The Norwegian

The Norwegian is a Scandinavian restaurant that you can find near the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel. It also functions as a live music venue, creating a unique dining experience.

The decor features a rustic interior, with wood accents and tables and modern lighting. 

They have a variety of delectable dishes, some of which include the “No Noodle” lasagna, the Sherry steak, the Swedish meatballs, and the asparagus salad.

My favorite dessert is the Swedish cinnamon knot, but they have many other sweets to enjoy.

The restaurant has a weekly rotating nightly menu, so you’ll have to inquire what they’re serving when you attend. 


Social Urban Bar and Restaurant

Social Urban Bar and Restaurant is near the Coronado Performing Arts Center and offers contemporary American cuisine. The interior is trendy and upscale.

The atmosphere is lively, and the bartending is exceptional. They have the best cocktails in the city, making it a great spot for a night out with friends. There’s also a vast selection of beer and wine. 

The menu has changed over time, but when I visited, they had fried brussel sprouts, which were crispy and delicious, and other delicious options like pork belly tacos.

Social Urban also features live music and events throughout the week, so it doesn’t get any better than that. 


Marc’s Fusion Cafe

Marc’s Fusion Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Rockford, Illinois. It’s not too far from Alpine Park, and you’re guaranteed to get top-notch Asian fusion cuisine if you go. 

The inside of the restaurant has a casual decor; it’s small but not cramped, giving it a cozy feel. 

The staff is amicable and checks on the table often to ensure you’re satisfied during your visit. I think it’s a nice place to kick back and relax.

They’re known for excellent sushi, sashimi, and fried rice options that allow you to add many sides like veggies, chicken, beef, shrimp, calamari, and more.

The venue prides itself on offering a thoughtfully crafted menu that showcases an array of breakfast and lunch options.

The restaurant’s specialty handcrafted espresso, coffee, freshly squeezed juice, and cappuccino creations are delightful. 

To ensure top-notch quality, Fresco has partnered with local suppliers to provide patrons with the ultimate dining experience.

By sourcing from local vendors, the restaurant is committed to using fresh, high-quality ingredients in all its dishes.

I could recommend many, but my favorites are the classic eggs Benedict, the lobster roll, and the blackened salmon tacos. 


Hoffman House Supper Club

Hoffman House Supper Club is a historic restaurant located near the Rockford Casino. The decor is classic and elegant, with plenty of natural lighting.

They specialize in traditional American cuisine, including steaks, seafood, and chicken dishes.

They’ve got you covered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, from eggs and toast to butterflied prawns, filet mignon, prime rib, and more. 

The restaurant also has an extensive wine list and a cocktail menu. The ambiance is upscale and sophisticated, plus they also offer catering services for small to large groups, handling every detail along the way.

It’s an excellent option for special occasions, and I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to Rockford!

Located near the Rockford Clock Tower, Thunder Bay Grille is a laid-back eatery adorned with rustic decor, offering a delicious menu featuring steaks, seafood, and Cajun cuisine.

They always have pretty fast service with great suggestions in case you’re stuck choosing between all the appetizing options.

During my visit, I settled on the shrimp jambalaya, fish and chips, and bison meatballs.

I got to share these plates with others, and we were all delighted with the flavor profiles and portion sizes.

The restaurant has an extensive drink list and a rotating selection of local craft beers on tap.


Sahara Palace Mediterranean Restaurant

Sahara Palace Mediterranean Restaurant is in the Marketplace of Rockford, which is a strip mall. It’s easy to overlook, so ensure you’re on the lookout.

The eatery offers clean decor with a warm atmosphere. I was unfamiliar with many dishes because I had never tried Mediterranean food before visiting Sahara Palace. 

The servers were so patient and kind when explaining what ingredients were in each dish.

The menu features traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, including flavorful dishes such as shawarma, hummus, and falafel. Sahara Palace is known for its generous portions and friendly service.

Located near Rockford City Hall, Woodfire Rockford offers a sophisticated, upscale ambiance with a contemporary feel.

Woodfire is a family-owned and operated establishment that prides itself on crafting exceptional pizza and other classic dishes using only the freshest locally-sourced ingredients. 

Their pizza is made using their own unique pizza dough that is hand-tossed to perfection, resulting in a delectable crust that perfectly complements the flavors of their toppings.

Aside from their pizza, I particularly love their tagliatelle and vodka rigatoni. They have a wide selection of mouth-watering dishes and refreshing drinks. Also, don’t forget to check out the dessert menu!


Rock Pho’d Asian Fusion Cuisine

Rock Pho’d Asian Fusion Cuisine is near the Carlson Ice Arena. This restaurant offers a unique blend of Asian flavors in its dishes.

The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere with neutral colors and artwork adorning the walls. If you’re looking for a delicious lunch or dinner option, this is one of the best places to visit.

The food is fresh, the service fast, and the flavors are sensational.  

Some of their most notable dishes include pho, Mongolian beef, Thai red curry, and basil fried rice.

I’ve never been here and not left satisfied, so I have nothing but good things to say about Rock Pho’d.

Tourists and locals alike continue to visit the restaurant because the food is addictive!

LimaMar Restaurant & Cocktail Bar brings a taste of Peruvian cuisine to downtown Rockford.

Near the Rock Valley College, you’ll find this quaint eatery with a cozy setting and a bright and lovely color scheme.

The service is always friendly, and it’s not too loud or crowded on most days. 

If you want to grab a quick bite with exquisite flavor, LimaMar is amongst the best restaurants in Rockford, Illinois, for exotic meals.

Their signature dishes include ceviche, lomo saltado, and Peruvian ahi tuna. They also have a variety of tasty drinks like their cilantro lemonade, the Lima, and more. 


Sisters Thai Cafe

Sisters Thai Cafe is a small restaurant in downtown Rockford by the Midway Theater. They serve authentic Laotian fare with bold flavors and fresh ingredients.

The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere in a chic dining room with brick walls and friendly servers. They have spectacular dishes like various curries, fried rice, stir-fry noodles, and more. 

There are also salads, soups, and cold drinks. The dish that I most often recommend when visiting is the Larb Kai, which has toasted and ground rice with minced chicken that has a slightly spicy chili seasoning, red onions, cilantro, and freshly squeezed lime juice.

It’s absolutely delicious and never disappoints!

Hai Quynh Restaurant is a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant located within minutes of the Midtown Fresh Market. The restaurant’s decor is simple and unassuming, but the food stands out.

The menu features many authentic Vietnamese dishes, including pho, banh mi, and vermicelli bowls.

The most popular menu items are the fresh spring rolls, crispy pork egg rolls, fried or steamed dumplings, crab Rangoon, and chicken fried rice.

I most commonly hear people ordering pho, which is out of this world, but when I want to try something new, I go for one of these items.
