If you go to Houston, you simply cannot miss out on experiencing Midtown. This is one of the most exciting areas of the city, and you’ll find it conveniently located between the Museum District and Downtown Houston.

When I went to Midtown Houston, I immersed myself in all the fantastic things to see and do, including arts and cultural attractions, green spaces and parks, shopping, and the nightlife.
If you love walking, you’ll feel right at home in this walkable area of Houston. That was one of the many things I loved about Midtown.
And on top of all that, Midtown Houston has an amazing culinary scene. It was my pleasure to visit several Midtown restaurants to bring you this list of the best restaurants in the neighborhood.

On Travis at Alabama Street, The Breakfast Klub in Midtown Houston is the local hotspot for breakfast. And you can have a tasty lunch here, too. I just loved the casual setting and welcoming atmosphere at this Midtown fixture.
All the breakfast classics are on offer here. I headed over to The Breakfast Klub on the second day of my Midtown stay, and I had the French Toast with bacon and eggs. I highly recommend it.
Locals told me the lunch sandwiches here are great, too. The Klub Sandwich is particularly popular, featuring bacon, ham, and turkey with Swiss and American cheeses, dressed with tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise. It’s served on toasted wheat bread.

With a convenient Main Street location, Tacos A Go Go is another restaurant you won’t want to miss when you’re in Midtown Houston.
This fun eatery with eclectic and unique (that’s an understatement) decor, and I thoroughly enjoyed the casual setting and atmosphere.
Tacos A Go Go services tasty Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes, such as quesadillas, tacos, and fajitas. You can even enjoy breakfast here, and I recommend you do. Tacos A Go Go has won awards for its morning meals.
This fun-loving Midtown eating spot first opened in 2006, and it’s a favorite with the locals. Go ahead and get yourself a spicy treat!

Brennan’s of Houston is nothing less than a city legend. This well-established restaurant has loyal local clientele, and if you meet any of them, you’ll hear rave reviews.
Serving fine cuisine in the Southern and Cajun and Creole styles, Brennan’s of Houston is a must-visit restaurant in Midtown Houston.
You can experience brunch, lunch, or dinner at Brennan’s of Houston, and I recommend enjoying more than one of these meals.
Brennan’s of Houston is committed to top-notch sourcing, focusing on local produce. This perfectly aligns with the restaurant’s pride in Texas and the state’s history. Count on true Southern hospitality in this culinary establishment.
In my opinion, the Shrimp Chippewa and Filet Mignon here are superb. When it comes to dessert, you can’t beat the luscious Pecan Pie.
And if you plan on visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, Brennan’s of Houston is located just over a mile away from it.

I’m a big fan of ramen, so I made JINYA Ramen Bar one of the first restaurants I visited in Midtown Houston.
JINYA takes its cuisine seriously, staying true to Japanese traditions and slow-cooking its ramen. All the broths are simmered for an impressive 20 hours.
When you eat at JINYA, you get the benefit of flexibility. And you’ll enjoy your delicious meal even more because of the stylish decor of the dining room.
Whether you’re with just one other person or a whole group, JINYA is perfect for lunch and dinner. And don’t forget to pair your meal with a craft beer. That’s what I did when I had this restaurant’s legendary Spicy Chicken Ramen.

Some of the most talked-about entrees here are the London Chicken Curry, Portuguese Squid Fried Rice, Lamb Ribs Mediterranean, and Curry Chicken Empanadas. In my opinion, the Lamb Ribs Mediterranean is a superb selection.
Make sure to book your reservations as soon as you can when planning to have a meal at Oporto Fooding House & Wine.
This is an in-demand dining option in Midtown and a well-known Houston establishment since 2006 when Rick Di Virgilio founded it.

Are you planning on spending some time exploring Houston’s museums and love Vietnamese food? If so, I highly recommend you check out Mai’s Restaurant.
It’s less than two miles from that section of the city. I’m a longstanding fan of traditional Vietnamese cuisine, so I made time to eat at Mai’s Restaurant during my Midtown Houston adventures.
Lots of locals and tourists alike stop by Mai’s Restaurant after late nights enjoying the nightlife of the area. After all, it stays open super-late every day of the week.
And it’s been a local institution since way back in 1978. I adored the Vietnamese eggrolls and Bo Luc Lac Dac (beef with spicy garlic flavor). And I devoured some coconut cheesecake to top things off.

When it comes to wine bars, 13 Celsius is one of Midtown’s most popular spots. Wine connoisseurs will find everything they expect here and much more, and there are outstanding menus of sparkling wines, wines by the glass, white wine, still rose by the bottle, red wine, and more.
There are also imported beers here, so if you enjoy those drinks, check them out. Moreover, there is an excellent menu of small plate and other dishes here so that you can pair your wine with the perfect dish.
On my visit to 13 Celsius, I tried the Baked Brice, which is dressed with honey, nuts, apples, and cranberries. It was delectable and perfect for pairing with my white wine.

One of my favorite Midtown Houston experiences was waffles, crepes, and coffee at the aptly named Coco Crepes, Waffles & Coffee.
I also visited Coco Crepes, Waffles & Coffee for some delicious soup and salad, specifically the Caesar Salad and the soup of the day. Everything was so tasty and was a great way to get set up for the rest of the day.
For my waffle, I had the Waffle Gelato Sandwich, which features maple syrup, powdered sugar, and butter.
For crepes, I tried the Coco’s Classic. It includes abundant banana, strawberry jelly, and peanut butter to delight your taste buds.

If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine paired with the perfect wines, as well as a cocktail bar, get a table at Damian’s Cucina Italiana. This legendary Midtown Houston restaurant is located on Smith Street, quite near Rosalie Street.
One of the best-loved dishes here is the Lasagna Bolognese, and that is what I went with when I had dinner at Damian’s Cucina Italiana.
This classic lasagna dish features lasagna pasta with ground veal, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese.
For dessert, go with the Tiramisu. If you love sweet treats with a hint of sophistication, this dessert is perfect for you.

When what you want is a casual restaurant with lots of friendly locals, give Weights + Measures a try. This local eatery has a varied menu, offering brunch, lunch, and dinner.
There’s a Happy Hour too, so if that’s your thing, check it out! Weights + Measures also offers a bakery. In fact, that’s one of its main attractions with the locals.
I visited this restaurant for dinner, which is available starting at 5 pm on Tuesday through Saturday. I was hungry that day, so I pursued the Larger Plates menu, choosing the Crispy Duck Breast. If you’re going to Midtown Houston, you’ve just got to try this.
