You’ll likely work up quite an appetite after a morning spent hiking, scuba diving off of the coast, or learning about the island’s native and cultural history.

If you’re hungry for a delicious brunch in Maui, you’ll love Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop. They are a casual dining environment that serves up salads, sandwiches, and a variety of classic breakfast foods. They are known for their mix of sweet and savory pies.
All of their sandwiches are made on thick, chewy house-made bread and made with fresh, local ingredients.
They also have several burgers and hot dogs, including options for vegetarians. I recommend the Lahaina Dog, a gourmet beef dog with poha berry mustard and topped with pineapple chutney.
My favorite pie on the menu was the delightfully decadent Chocolate Mac Nut Pie. I was also partial to the monkey bread, which is made with potato bread and topped with a sweet cream cheese frosting.

This open-air restaurant is the perfect choice for brunch in Maui. It is a popular spot, so you either need to get there early or be prepared to wait in line, however, I promise that the food is worth the extra effort.
Standard and unique brunch fare are available at The Gazebo, from omelets and french toast to fried rice dishes.
The Macadamia Nut pancakes are a particular favorite from both tourists and locals alike, topped with fresh slices of banana.
I tried the Eggs Benedict and a white chocolate chip pancake with my coffee and walked away full and happy.
In addition to the delicious food, the staff here is incredibly helpful and friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is casual and relaxed despite the crowds.

Grandma’s Coffee House has been in business since 1918, and has seen four generations of family members roast and prepare their signature Maui Organic coffee blend.
Here, you can enjoy a delicious cup of locally grown coffee and sample baked goods like their homemade pumpkin bread or Banana-walnut square with brown butter frosting.
If you’re not in the mood for something sweet, you can also enjoy traditional breakfast combos like steak and eggs, omelets, egg scrambles, and savory sides including home fries or bacon.
The coffee house has a hole-in-the-wall vibe. There are plenty of places to sit and gather, including a lovely outdoor patio with views of the neighborhood.

Across from Kalama Beach Park sits the Kihei Caffe, a charming family diner with a Hawaiian flair. It is a restaurant that believes in simplicity, good food, and good coffee.
They open early to cater to surfers and early-morning types and are typically busiest between 8 and 10 in the morning.
On the menu, you can sample a variety of traditional breakfast and brunch dishes, all made with fresh ingredients daily.
Lighter fare includes items like the Papaya Delight, which is half a papaya filled with yogurt, granola, and raisins, Bircher Muesli, or a cup of fresh, local fruit.
Heartier items include mouthwatering Chorizo & Scrambled Eggs, Eggs Florentine, or my personal favorite, the Loco Moco.
This is a traditional Hawaiian breakfast that is made up of two eggs, a beef patty or Kalua Pork, and rice topped with gravy. There are also Southern-style breakfasts featuring catfish, bone-in ham, and chicken fried steak.
Monkeypod Kitchen

Monkeypod Kitchen is a lunch and dinner restaurant led by award-winning Chef Peter Merriman. He serves up creative and tasty meals.
The restaurant is named for the monkeypod tree, a tree that grows throughout the Hawaiian islands. There are two Maui locations, one in Wailea and the other in Ka’anapali.
Monkeypod Kitchen focuses on craft and believes in fostering relationships with local farmers, fishermen, brewers, and artisans. This is reflected in their top-quality food, which changes depending on the season.
During my visit to Monkeypod Kitchen, I tried one of their cocktails, the No Ka ‘Oi, a vodka-based drink with Thai basil, lime, and honey-lilikoi puree.
They also have an extensive beer and wine selection, with a variety of choices from local brewing companies.
As for food, I tried the Fresh Caught Fish Tacos with a side of Garlic Truffle Oil Fries. Both were delicious, and the fries came with house-made ketchup.

At the intersection of Kokomo Road and Haiku Road sits Colleen’s At the Cannery, a charming little restaurant across the street from the post office.
This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is open daily from 6 in the morning until 10 at night.
The ingredients here are fresh and local, with fish delivered daily and bread made in-house.
If you stop here for brunch, the menu is extensive. In addition to traditional egg dishes like eggs benedict and egg stuffed croissant sandwiches, they offer delicious breakfast burritos with a side of homemade salsa and fluffy pancakes topped with fresh fruit.
I recommend the Hangover Cure, a dish of potatoes, jack and cheddar cheeses, ham, onion, and chilies with eggs and a side of toast.
If you’re not in the mood for eggs, you could try any of the hearty sandwiches and wrap options. They also have burgers, fish tacos, and a variety of fresh salads made with organic greens.
Tasty Crust Restaurant

The Tasty Crust Restaurant is a traditional American diner that offers up delicious brunch dishes in a warm and cozy spot.
The diner has been in business since 1942 and prides itself on delivering quality cups of coffee and satisfying meals at affordable prices alongside amazing customer service.
The menu is quite extensive at Tasty Crust. There are classics like pancakes and eggs with sides of breakfast meats like Portuguese sausage and bacon.
If you’re up for something a little more adventurous, try the Loco Moco, Korean short ribs, the sesame katsu, or the cajun ahi salad.

Located next door to the Kula MarketPlace on the Valley Island of Maui, Kula Lodge Restaurant is a warm and cozy space with a full bar and a rustic feel. It also has breathtaking mountain views and is conveniently located near the Ulupalakua Winery.
The restaurant is a part of the Kula Lodge, a small mountain lodge with five guest cabins, expansive floral gardens, and a large outdoor terrace that provide an unforgettable dining experience.
It is also home to the only full-service bar in Kula. They have a variety of signature cocktails made with fresh, local ingredients.
The food here provided me with one of the best brunches in Maui. I tried the Kula Lodge Quiche, which was served with caramelized onion and goat cheese alongside fruit straight from the island.
They have several dishes that cater to vegetarians as well, including the Veggie Burger and the Kula Veggie Omelet.
Outside the lodge has a Garden Terrace, where you can create your artisan pizza in their wood-fired pizza ovens.
Paia Bay Coffee Bar

The Paia Bay Coffee Bar is one of the most aesthetically pleasing spots for brunch in Maui. Located a short walk from Paia Bay and the Lower Paia Park, this tropical garden cafe is full of lush green plants, dark wood furniture, and warm twinkle lights.
Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch, with happy hour specials from 2-5 pm daily. They have Taco Tuesday and a Wine Down Wednesday where bottles of wine are only $25 all day. Furthermore, they have live music every night.
They have a variety of egg dishes, as well as a deliciously fruity and fresh Acai bowl. They also have a wide selection of bagels and croissants.
Pair your meal with a delicious Lavender Latte or Vegan Caramel Coconut Macnut Milk Latte or choose from a variety of teas, soda, and juice.
If you visit later in the day, you can enjoy margaritas, mai tais, or mules alongside $10 Naan Flatbread pizzas.

The Mala Tavern is led by Chef Alvin Savella, a local Maui celebrity known as the Kitchen Assassin for his creative and innovative approach to cooking. You can get a delicious meal at any time of day, but their brunch menu is truly exceptional.
They have a wide range of cocktails, including a Build Your Own Bloody Mala. You can add items like bacon, lamb meatballs, coconut shrimp, or oyster shooters. Mimosas are also on the menu, with juice options like watermelon, pineapple, and orange.
The breakfast menu allows for plenty of customization as well. From build your own omelets to savory dishes like Mala Cristo or Crab Frittatas, there is much to sample and enjoy. For lunch, you can choose from fresh salads, shared flatbread plates, burgers, fish, and sandwiches.

The Cafe @ La Plage is an internet cafe serving up breakfast, sandwiches, smoothies, and piping hot coffee beverages 5 days a week. They are open from 7:34 am to 1:30 pm.
This is a spectacular location to work from. If you bring your laptop and are lucky enough to snag a seat outdoors, you’ll have access to a breathtaking view of the ocean while you enjoy your meal.
As far as food goes, I recommend the La Plage Avocado Toast, served with dill and caper cream cheese, avocado, tomato, and sprouts on thick, crusty sourdough bread.
There are many breakfast sandwiches to choose from as well, which come with your choice of bread or bagel.
For heavier fare, enjoy a selection of paninis, like the Mediterranean Melt or the Tuscan Sun panini with goat cheese. Sandwiches like the Makena or The Jawz are also incredibly delicious choices.

For a taste of home-style cooking in the tropical paradise that is Maui, try Cafe Mambo. The staff behind the food and friendly atmosphere are passionate about cooking and believe in using organic and locally sourced ingredients to create inspired dishes.
Cafe Mambo is located near the beautiful Lower Pāʻia Park in Paia Bay.
During my visit to Cafe Mambo, I tried the Plantation Burrito which had eggs, chorizo, rice, and guacamole wrapped up in a large flour tortilla. It was delicious!
There were several burgers and sandwiches to choose from as well, and I was hoping to be hungry enough to sample the Crispy Duck burger as well.

Health-food nuts will love the nutritious options available at the Choice Health Bar. Here, the food choices are fresh, local, and organic, and everything is plant-based.
Furthermore, they have zero-waste and environmentally green policies. There are three locations in Maui, including Pa’ia, Ka’anapali, and Lahaina.
Try a variety of fresh acai bowls and fruit smoothies alongside dishes like avocado toast, caesar tempeh wraps, and fresh shaker salads. If you visit later in the day, I recommend trying the Benny-Mac Loco Moco or the daily Vegan Soup.

Maui Coffee Attic, located a block from Wells Park off of Main Street, is a 1950s-style cafe focused on community and great coffee.
They frequently feature live music and comedy shows to enjoy with your coffee or pastry, and have a charming and cozy vibe.
They serve breakfast and lunch items all day, including popular items like Avocado Toast or their Kimchi Quesadilla.
They serve hearty wraps and bagel sandwiches as well. I was in a sweet mood when I stopped by Maui Coffee Attic, so I tried a slide of the Matcha-Azuki cheesecake and ordered a blueberry scone for the road.
Final Thoughts
Maui is a remarkable place with plenty of delightful brunch restaurants. There isn’t anything quite like enjoying a delicious breakfast and cup of coffee underneath swaying palm trees or overlooking the great blue ocean.
