The Best Vegan Snacks To Eat

If you’re vegan, you may have difficulty finding snacks that check all the boxes — healthy, convenient, tasty, and, of course, vegan!

Healthy homemade chickpea and veggies salad

But I’ve compiled a list of delicious vegan snacks that’ll make your life a whole lot easier (and tastier).

I’ll discuss various aspects of these bites, including but not limited to what they are, their standout flavors and ingredients, the best time to eat them, and what you might want to pair them with.

Vegan Snack Foods

From sweet to savory to spicy and everything in between, there’s a vegan snack for you. Feel free to share this list with your vegan friends and family as well!

Hummus

Hummus is a delicious and nutritious vegan snack that can be enjoyed in many different ways.

Hummus is a healthy dip for carrots, cucumbers, and other crunchy veggies, and it’s made from chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, and garlic.

I love the contrasting consistency between the crunchy veggie and the smooth hummus.

Edamame

Edamame is another highly nutritious snack that’s perfect for vegans.

This soybean is often steamed and salted, making it delicious and easy to eat.

Edamame pairs well with vegan sushi and vegan miso soup.

Guacamole

Who doesn’t love guacamole?

This dish consists of mashed avocados and usually incorporates veggies like onions, tomatoes, and peppers.

Guac is a relatively easy snack to make yourself, but if you’re short on time, you can also find pre-made guac in most major grocery stores. Pair it with your favorite tortilla chips!

Kale Chips

Regular chips are often loaded with unhealthy fats and chemicals, but kale chips are a healthier alternative that maintains that same crunchy texture.

I like making kale chips by massaging olive oil and sea salt into kale leaves for the ultimate flavor, then baking them in the oven at a low temperature until they’re crispy.

Popcorn

People often label popcorn as an unhealthy snack and leave it out of vegan food lists because many people love adding tons of butter to their bags.

But if you make popcorn at home and use healthy oils like avocado or olive oil for flavor, you can enjoy this whole grain as a vegan-friendly snack.

There are lots of different popcorn toppings you can use instead of butter!

Trail Mix

Trail mix is a delightful snack option because there are so many options!

Of course, you might opt to leave out the M&Ms if you’re vegan, but you can still include a range of tasty ingredients such as raisins, peanuts, almonds, cashews, and dried fruit.

I love making my own trail mix before going on hikes or long bike rides.

Roasted Chickpeas

This is one of my favorite snacks on this list! Roasted chickpeas are incredibly easy to make, and they’re also very versatile.

You can season them however you like — I usually go for a combination of olive oil, garlic powder, and chili powder. Yum!

Avocado on Rye Crackers

Avocado on rye crackers is a classic snack that’s perfect for vegans.

Simply take some avocado, mash it up, and spread it on top of your favorite type of cracker.

I like rye crackers because they have a hearty flavor that pairs well with the creamy avocado.

It’s like making bite-sized avo-toast!

Dark Chocolate Rice Cakes

Dark chocolate is a favorite sweet treat for vegans because, unlike milk chocolate, it can be dairy-free.

A small piece of dark chocolate makes for a great snack, but making or buying dark chocolate rice cakes is an even better option.

I often top these cakes with almond or peanut butter, making for a protein-packed filling snack.

Dates

Dates are a type of fruit that people often use as a natural sweetener in vegan recipes.

But you can also enjoy dates on their own as a healthy snack.

Dates are high in fiber and antioxidants, making them a great option for those looking for a nutritional boost.

Dried Apricots

Dried apricots make for a chewy and slightly tart snack that is perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.

Apricots are also a fantastic source of Vitamin A, so munching on a few of these will help you reach your daily intake.

I pack dried apricots on the go or add them to a trail mix.

Fruit and Nut Bars

If you’re looking for a super-convenient snack that you can throw in your bag on the go, you should go with a vegan fruit and nut bar.

These snack bars usually have a high source of protein and healthy fats, making them a perfect choice for pre-or post-workout fuel.

Fruit and Veg Smoothies

Making a smoothie is an easy and optimal way to consume all your favorite fruits and veggies in one sitting.

I am a gigantic smoothie fan, and I love pairing different combinations together for a new taste each day.

My favorite smoothie combination of all time includes spinach, banana, pineapple, and mango.

You can leave out the yogurt and milk and rely on banana or avocado for a smooth and creamy finish, or use almond or oat milk instead.

Fruit Kabobs

Fruit kabobs are fun and easy, making them a snack that’s perfect for parties or barbecues.

Simply thread your favorite fruits onto skewers, and enjoy!

I usually use a mix of berries, grapes, and melon for my kabobs.

If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can even drizzle some chocolate or vegan caramel sauce on top.

Oats

Oats are a simple grab-and-go snack you can rely on to fill you up in no time.

They are simple but get the job done every time.

Combining oats with milk-free yogurt is a way to make them a bit more interesting.

Peanut Butter Apple Slices

Peanut butter is one of my favorite vegan-friendly spreads since it’s packed with protein and gives me enough energy.

When you pair it with apple slices, it elevates apples to the next level!

Artichoke Hearts

In my opinion, artichoke hearts are one of the most underrated vegetables.

They are super versatile and have a bitter, sweet, and herby taste that is to die for.

I like eating artichoke hearts alone as a snack or using them as a topping for vegan pizza.

Chia Pudding

Chia seeds are seen as a superfood because of their laundry list of health benefits.

Fiber, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids are all healthy components of chia seeds.

When they soak in liquid, they create a tapioca-like pudding, and I enjoy their soft consistency.

Granola

Granola is a go-to snack of mine because it is so easy to make and lasts a long time.

I like to add it to my vegan yogurt or oatmeal in the morning for some extra crunch, or I’ll eat it alone as a snack.

Coconut Chips

Is there anything better than coconut? You can drink it, eat it, and use it in all sorts of beauty and health products.

It’s an all-encompassing superfood, and I also love using it in snacks.

My favorite way to consume coconuts is in chip form because they are the perfect blend of sweet, buttery, and woody.

Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes

Olives and sun-dried tomatoes are my favorite snacks to eat together when I’m in the mood for something savory.

I like to pair them together because they have complementary flavors.

The olives provide a salty punch, while the sun-dried tomatoes are sweet and chewy.

Pretzels

Pretzels are simple, but their salty flavor and crunchy texture keep me coming back for more.

I like to eat pretzels alone or with a dipping sauce on the side, like mustard.

Pretzels also make for a fantastic party snack because they are so well-loved and uncontroversial.

Tortilla Chips

Tortilla chips and salsa is the ultimate classic snack for good reasons.

Together, they create a delightful balance of salty, savory, and even spicy if you like.

But even if you’re not in the mood for salsa or just don’t have the time to make it, tortilla chips alone are delightful. You can also grab a jar of salsa from the grocery store!

Roasted Chestnuts

I like roasted chestnuts as a snack because they are unique and have a slightly sweet flavor.

Chestnuts are also packed with nutrients like vitamins C and B6 and minerals like manganese, phosphorus, and copper.

Roasting chestnuts is also a nice holiday activity, so why not give them a try at the next winter family gathering?

Seaweed Thins

Seaweed thins are a fantastic alternative to chips if you’re looking for something a bit healthier.

They have a similar crunchy texture but are packed with nutrients and have that unique, briny flavor.

I usually buy them pre-packaged, but you can make them at home if you’d like!
