Fort Lauderdale is one of my favorite coastal cities, with fabulous beaches, exciting nightlife, yachting, and over 165 miles of inland waterways.
It’s also the perfect place to enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise? Where should you go for the best burgers in Fort Lauderdale?
Fortunately, there’s more than one excellent answer to that question. I’ve rounded up the tastiest burgers in town, including those found in traditional diners, upscale restaurants, casual brewpubs, and more.
I’ve even found a truly delicious burger on the menu in a local pizza parlor! No matter what type of burger you’re after, this city has got you covered.
Check out my list of the best burgers in Fort Lauderdale below!
B Square Burgers
1021 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
Phone: (954) 999-5216
The “squared” B in the title refers to burgers and booze – both of which you’ll find here in abundance. B Square is a casual, contemporary burger-and-brew joint located a few blocks northwest of Colee Hammock Park, near the intersection of E Las Olas Boulevard and SE 10th Terrace.
It’s a stylish and welcoming place decorated with lots of wood and natural light, perfect for families, date night, and get-togethers with friends.
They have a wide selection of hot dogs, sandwiches (“b-wiches”), tacos, and, of course, burgers. Some burger highlights include The Dad Bod, which features two four-ounce patties, and the Phat Boy, an eight-ounce patty with bacon and two types of cheese.
They also serve one of my favorite veggie burgers in town, the I Don’t Eat Meat.
1930 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
Phone: (954) 533-8621
If you’re looking for a family-friendly alternative to burgers and beer, check out the burgers and milkshakes available at BRGR STOP.
You’ll find this cozy, friendly space in the Gateway Shopping Center, located a few blocks south of North Federal Highway and due west of Middle River.
All of their burgers feature an eight-ounce patty of Angus Beef. You’ll find over 14 original options, including the Vampire Slayer, with a garlic-buttered brioche bun, and the Hot & Juicy Lucy, which includes their house-made pimento cheese.
It’s a great place to dine if you’re looking for burgers you won’t find anywhere else!
Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill
1821 Cordova Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
Gilbert’s offers family dining at its finest here in Fort Lauderdale. The restaurant is opened and operated by the Gilbert family, who have over 40 years of experience in the food service industry.
They’re a few blocks due south of SE 17th Street, near the Tropical Smoothie Café and the Manhattan NY Pizza. It’s an authentic grill with a long counter and the smell of home cooking in the air.
Their burger selection includes a classic cheeseburger, Cajun burger, BBQ Bacon, and more.
If you’re up for a challenge, I recommend The Hottest Burger, which is covered with their homemade hot sauce and ghost pepper jack cheese. It’s not for the faint of heart!
2477 E Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
Phone: (954) 835-5514
BurgerFi is a popular burger restaurant with several locations throughout Florida, including my favorite location, which you’ll find in Port Everglades near the Stranahan River.
It’s a contemporary, inviting restaurant with long tables, high ceilings, and stainless steel décor. They offer a wide range of classic faves, including burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, shakes, onion rings, and fries.
You can’t beat their burger selection. Aside from loads of traditional burgers, you’ll also find many custom options, including The CEO, with homemade candied bacon-tomato jam, and the Breakfast All Day Burger, which is topped with a fried egg.
Royal Pig Pub and Kitchen
350 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
Phone: (954) 617-7447
Formerly known as the Royal Pig Pub and Kitchen, the Royal 350 is a restaurant and bar popular among the locals.
You’ll find it near the NSU Art Museum between East Las Olas Boulevard and SE 4th Street. Aside from the impressive array of entrees and snacks, the restaurant is also home to one of the largest craft beer selections in the city.
Their burgers are made with eight-ounce patties of seasoned beef. They offer familiar favorites, such as the Royal American and the Swiss Shroom.
As well as several “out of the box” options such as the Triple Cheese Mac Attack and the Good Morning (which includes a fried egg).
Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger
4201 N Federal Hwy, Oakland Park, FL 33308
Phone: (954) 565-9960
When you’re in the mood for a classic burger, head over to Jack’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers. It’s a fun, friendly diner with a welcoming staff and affordable prices.
You’ll find this burger joint between East Coral Lake and the Coral Ridge Country Club Estate, located just off the North Federal Highway.
Jack’s has been a Florida fixture since 1972, and they’re definitely turned burger-making into an art form. They make the patties by hand each day using only fresh ingredients.
While their burgers are the main draw, don’t overlook their other options, such as their mouth-watering chili dogs and fresh-cut French fries.
Hardy Park Bistro
21 SW 7th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
Phone: (954) 652-1475
Do you have a big appetite than can only be satisfied by a big burger? You’ll love the plentiful portions of the Hardy Park Bistro.
They’re located one block north of Florence C Hardy Park on SE 7th Street. The restaurant is cozy and contemporary, perfect for dates or dining with friends.
They serve a wide range of entrees, but the burgers are the real star. I recommend the HPB Burger, which features cheddar cheese, lettuce, crisp onion, and a side of fries.
Burgers are available for both lunch and dinner. While the restaurant offers a wonderful dine-in experience, they also allow you to order online directly on their website, making home delivery a snap!
Billy Jack’s Shack
218 FL-870 #102, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL 33308
Phone: (954) 990-8671
I recommend Billy Jack’s Shack when you’re in the mood for a fun and relaxing time. It’s a welcoming, casual restaurant with long wooden tables and large windows.
They’re near the corner of Commercial Boulevard and Bougainvilla Drive, within walking distance of several hotels, including Keeses Cottages, the Shore Haven Resort Inn, and the High Noon Beach Resort.
Their burger selection is like nothing you’ll find elsewhere. Some of their signature burgers include the Hunter S. Thompson, loaded with whiskey onions, and the Cousin Oliver, which features macaroni, smoked beans, and BBQ chips.
Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar – Fort Lauderdale
1411 S Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
Phone: (954) 463-4900
Tap 42 is one of my favorite places in Fort Lauderdale to grab a drink and a burger. They offer drink specials every night of the week plus a Bottomless Brunch from 11 am until 3 pm every Saturday and Sunday.
The varied menu includes noodle bowls, seafood, chicken, sandwiches, and burgers. My favorite is The Prohibition, their house offering with white cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, and their signature secret sauce.
Another great choice is The Drunken Goat, a burger made from a blend of beef and lamb.
901 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304
Phone: (954) 565-0605
You can’t beat the burgers – or the view! The Primanti Brothers Restaurant & Bar sits right on Central Beach, about one block south of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park and a few blocks east of the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens.
It’s a casual, welcoming restaurant with a cool blue exterior and a large red sign.
While the place emphasizes their world-famous pizza, you don’t want to overlook their burgers, which are a bit of a hidden gem on the menu.
Both their cheeseburgers and hamburgers have 1/3 pound beef patties. No matter which one I get, I always order a French fry boat, mozzarella sticks, or their Almost Famous Chili with Italian bread.
Doc B’s Restaurant + Bar (Fort Lauderdale)
452 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
Phone: (754) 900-2401
Doc B’s is home to fresh food and friendly faces. They serve up all-American fare from their Fort Lauderdale location, which you’ll find near Peter Feldman Park on North Federal Highway.
They’re near many other popular restaurants including the Press and Grind Café, Spatch Peri-Peri Chicken, and the Vale Food Company.
Their menu is one of the largest on the list, featuring Wok Out Bowls, pasta, BBQ, sandwiches, and burgers.
Some of my favorites include the Wedge Burger, with egg, and the Turkey Burger, with Monterey jack cheese and loads of veggies. All burgers include their house fries, coleslaw, or kale slaw.
Fort Lauderdale has no shortage of attractions, including shopping, historical sites, and loads of beach fun.
Some of the best spots include Las Olas Boulevard, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, and more. Fortunately, no matter where you go, a delicious burger is never far! There are plenty of delicious BBQ spots to check out around town as well!
