9 Popular Kombucha Brands That Nutritionists Approve

Kombucha is a popular fermented tea drink that comes in an array of flavors. As kombucha has grown more popular, there are lots of amazing brands available to choose from!

Single bottle of Health Ade Kombucha

As a traditional drink in China, many believe that’s where kombucha is originally from. From there, it spread to Eastern Europe and then the rest of the world, as it is now brewed across the globe.

As one would expect from a globally popular drink, kombucha comes in all shapes and flavors.

So whether you enjoy sipping on something strong, rich in flavor, or a lighter, floral-favored beverage, there is bound to be a kombucha for you. In addition to its great and diverse taste, kombucha is also filled with probiotics that are thought to promote gut health.

The Best Kombucha Brands

Having all of that in mind, I’ve compiled a list of the best kombucha brands based on their taste, ingredients, and any other noteworthy traits.

Health-Ade Kombucha

Health-Ade kombucha from Los Angeles is one of the most popular brands on the market.

They offer a dozen flavors, from Pink Lady Apple to my favorite, Tropical Punch.

With this kombucha, each bottle contains 16 fluid ounces and around 14 grams of sugar (the average among kombucha brands).

There are also no artificial ingredients or preservatives, something many other kombucha brands can’t say. It even includes some real fruit juice.

There are around 60 calories per bottle, but the number of live cultures and caffeine is unknown.

Brew Dr. Kombucha

Brew Dr. Kombucha offers some of the tastiest kombuchas out there.

What makes them even better is that they are low-calorie and on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to sugar, with around 10 grams per bottle.

Brew Dr. Kombucha is also certified organic and contains no artificial ingredients or preservatives, which is something I’m always appreciative of.

The brand is known for its simple ingredients and herbal flavors, with billions of live cultures in every bottle.

You can also expect around 15 mg of caffeine per bottle of Brew Dr. Kombucha.

In addition, you can buy the kombucha in multi-packs that contain nine cans, cutting down on cost and providing a convenient way to try more than one flavor at a time.

GT’s Enlightened Organic Raw Kombucha

GT’s Enlightened Organic Raw Kombucha is one of the best brands for those who want a drink with less sugar but still a great taste.

As its name suggests, it is absolutely raw, with no artificial ingredients or preservatives.

It has 9 billion live cultures per bottle and only 50 calories. You can also expect around 12 grams of sugar per bottle.

GT’s Enlightened Organic Raw Kombucha is sold throughout the United States. I think it is one of the best-tasting kombucha brands on the market, especially if you like fruity and tropical flavors.

Their selection of flavors is truly diverse, and each of them brings something distinct, so I highly recommend trying them all at least once.

Humm Kombucha

The outstanding Humm Kombucha is all-natural, and all the flavors are certified organic.

Although some kombucha brands contain trace amounts of alcohol, all Humm Kombucha drinks are entirely alcohol-free, which may be a dealbreaker depending on your preferences.

When I’m in the mood for something non-alcoholic, it’s certainly one of my favorites.

Humm Kombuchas contains 14 mg of caffeine per 8 ounces and around 2 billion probiotic cultures. The brand also uses organic fruit juices and organic cane sugar in some flavors.

I always find it enjoyable reading through the ingredients and discovering new ones, but this can also help you pinpoint a brand perfect for you.

B-tea Kombucha

B-tea Kombucha is a low-calorie and low-sugar kombucha brand that’s best for consumers who love tea-flavored kombucha.

It comes in a variety of flavors, like green tea, original, and raspberry. Plus, the bottles are 100% reusable and recyclable.

The kombucha uses all-natural black tea leaves and is never pasteurized. It contains naturally occurring probiotics, B vitamins, and amino acids.

There are also no added preservatives, sugars, chemicals, or artificial colors in B-Tea, making it a very healthy choice.

Holy Kombucha

Holy Kombucha is 100% raw and made with around 12 grams of sugar per bottle.

There are live cultures, only 60 calories, along with no artificial ingredients or preservatives in every bottle.

Some of their many flavors include Amazing Blues, Berry Passion, Blood Orange, and Corazon.

Their artfully designed kombucha bottles which I find hard to ignore at the grocery store, are brewed in small batches with organic ingredients that consumers love.

The drinks also have less than 0.5% alcohol per bottle and less than 15 mg of caffeine.

Holy Kombucha contains probiotics, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking for both a healthy and refreshing drink.

Kosmic Kombucha

Kosmic Kombucha is brewed organically with unique, fresh flavors that are incredibly popular.

The brand originates in Austin, Texas, and is sold throughout the United States. There are around 40 calories and seven grams of sugar per serving.

It’s also among the healthier options on the market due to its lack of artificial ingredients and preservatives.

The flavors include Salty Dog, Black Magic, Mint Julep, Cherry Bomb, and, my personal favorite, Texas Blues which has organic blueberries and lime combined with basil and agave.

It is hard to beat these unique flavor combinations with a thoughtful ingredient approach.

Simple Truth Organic Kombucha

Simple Truth Organic Kombucha is an affordable and popular brand of kombucha that has around 80 calories and 16 grams of sugar per bottle.

It is also certified organic! It’s available throughout the United States and is well-known for its strong, tangy flavor. It’s stronger than many of the other kombuchas on this list.

Some flavors include Blueberry Ginger, Strawberry Lemonade, Lemon Ginger, and Raspberry Hibiscus.

Plus, the kombucha is 100% raw, which I love! It’s best for those looking for more traditional flavors that pack a punch when it comes to taste.

Wonder Drink Prebiotic Kombucha

Wonder Drink Prebiotic Kombucha is one of the oldest kombucha brands on our list!

They began brewing in 1999 and have since become a staple of the kombucha community.

The distinctive red and yellow cans correspond with the Prebiotic and Prebiotic Plus varieties of Wonder Drink Kombucha.

The latter, which is my go-to Wonder Drink variety, contains ingredients like ashwagandha, electrolytes, and sea buckthorn.

All varieties are alcohol-free and contain between 8 and 10 grams of sugar. There are also less than 50 calories per bottle and no preservatives or artificial flavors. In addition, the drinks are sweetened with stevia.
