I recommend the white Philly pizza with roasted garlic alfredo, shaved ribeye, roasted peppers, and onions, and the BBQ Chick with barbeque sauce, shredded roasted chicken, red onion, sharp cheddar, cilantro, and bacon.

Owned and operated by father and son duo Asip and Gezim Asani, Bay34th Street Pizzeria is a New York-style pizzeria located in the Inwood neighborhood. The small, welcoming local is a great place to dine in or take a calzone and a slice to go. The open kitchen has a marble bar display case with a variety of freshly baked pies, calzones, and cannoli, just like a typical Brooklyn pizza spot. The menu features calzones, Stromboli, chicken dishes, pasta, hot sandwiches, and wings in addition to their show-stopping pizza. Their baked ziti is excellent, but if you’re looking for a great specialty pie, I recommend the eggplant parm pie with oven-baked eggplant, basil, olive oil, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
Located in Dallas’ Design District Delucca Gaucho Pizza & Wine is an elegant, high-end restaurant, serving wood-fired pizzas and craft cocktails in a beautifully designed dining room. The dining room has marble fireplaces, a wrap-around marble bar, black leather seating, and black and white tiled flooring. Smooth Bossa nova music and dim lighting set the mood for an intimate dinner at Delucca. Unlike the rest of the pizzerias on my list, Delucca has a set menu for a multi-course meal, starting with house-made Kobe meatballs and lobster bisque, then “gauchos” or servers will circulate with numerous different pizzas, offering you slice after slice until you indicate you are full.
Pizza Leila is a Sicilian pizzeria located in downtown Dallas’s high-end American Bistro, Sloan’s Corner. You can dine on the beautiful outdoor patio or grab a large square slice to go for lunch or dinner. Sicilian pizza has a square shape, dense yet chewy deep-dish crust, and ample char. Traditionally, Sicilian has few toppings, if any, but Pizza Leila breaks the tradition with some amazing specialty Sicilian offerings. Still, I recommend the classic Grandma’s Square with fresh mozzarella, roasted tomato sauce, and fresh basil. If you want to spice things up, try the Vodka Sausage and Peppers pizza with vodka cream sauce, Italian sausage, and yellow peppers.
Named for the original Lowest Greenville location, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company has since opened a second location in East Dallas, serving scratch-made thin-crust pizzas and award-winning wings. Greenville’s trendy, yet old-school pizzeria atmosphere and unique fusion pies that draw from a panoply of flavors from around the U.S. have won over the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Their Mexican Pizza is spectacular, with hamburger, poblano peppers, red onions, Roma tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, and cheddar.

Unlike conventional fast-food pizza establishments, the specialty pizzas at Zalat Pizza are as gourmet and exotic as most of the dine-in restaurants on my list. Zalat Pizza has a lot of Pan-Asian flavors worth trying. Take, for example, the Pho Shizzle pizza with chicken, red bell peppers, caramelized onions, hoisin, and sriracha swirl, topped with basil and cilantro garnish. I tried a pizza with southern flair known as the Nashville Hot Chicken and Pickles, with crunchy pickles slathered with sweet and spicy Nashville Hot sauce, sriracha, chicken, and red onions.
