Ziziki’s claims to offer visitors a journey through Greek cuisine with a menu steeped in tradition – a claim I honestly can’t deny. The restaurant serves up a wide variety of authentic Greek food, completed by an extensive wine list that includes many Greek options. I recommend ordering the lamb shank. This Chef’s Pick features a slow-cooked bone-in lamb shank seasoned with Greek spices served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. If you have room when you’re done, emphasis on if, try their baklava ice cream cake for the perfect sweet treat to wrap up a delicious meal.

Fadi’s Mediterranean Grill has many locations all over Dallas, but you’re guaranteed quality Mediterranean cuisine no matter which one you visit. This is the perfect restaurant to dine in if you’re going out with family or friends. They have multiple large family meals that are good for 3-4 people. I recommend going with the beef shawarma meal. You get a pound of shawarma, three sides, rice, garlic sauce, and pita bread. Basically, you’ll have enough food to satisfy even the most hungry member of your part. And if you have more than 3-4 people, mix it up and get another family meal featuring kabobs, falafel, chicken, or lamb. Fadi’s makes it too easy to sit back and enjoy great food and company.

Kostas Cafe is a Greek blue food oasis in a desert of drab buildings lining a busy Northeastern Dallas street. The color of the exterior draws you in, and the smells of the interior quickly make it clear you made a good decision on where to eat. Start with some hummus before ordering their dolmas plate. This Greek dish features grape leaves stuffed with ground beef and rice topped with lemon sauce. You have to try their galaktoboureko if you’re visiting during the weekend. This authentic custard dessert is baked in crispy filo pastry and will have you ordering extra to-go.

Little Greek Fresh Grill is a popular national chain with a location in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood. The restaurant is a bit off the main highway, tucked away in a shopping center with a few other restaurants. It doesn’t seem like much at first glance – but the food is worth the visit. I recommend starting with the simple and delicious appetizer of fried pita chips with tzatziki sauce before starting in on one of their perfectly-seasoned gyro platters. They have good baklava for dessert, but I suggest giving their homemade rice pudding a go for something truly authentic.

Stratos is an experience. You can eat some amazing Greek food here, but Stratos puts a little more emphasis on bar than grill. This isn’t a bad thing, however, as the restaurant features great live music, delightful happy hour specials, and a unique vibe for the visitor looking to enjoy their Greek food something a little untraditional. I recommend ordering bar food here. Get the Stratos Calamari or their Greek Cheese Fries to go along with a great drink while you sit back and enjoy the show. I don’t want to undervalue Stratos’ menu however. They have an extensive menu of great Greek dishes to choose from if you want something more filling.

Yia Yia’s House of Gyros is located just east of Dallas in Mesquite. This hole-in-the-wall restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is one of the most authentic and best Greek restaurants in Dallas. You can’t go wrong with ordering Yia Yia’s perfect lamb and beef gyro. The meat is seasoned so perfectly you’d swear you were in Greece. But if you like eggplant, I recommend their moussaka. The dish features layers of ground beef and eggplant served with a bechamel sauce that will have you begging for the recipe. Yia Yia’s is BYOB, so don’t forget to bring your favorite brew to enjoy with your meal.
