Long Beach Brunch Guide: Where to Go This Weekend

Where to find your breakfast and lunch favorites like avocado toast, omelets, and iced coffee.

The world-famous city of Long Beach, California is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to, and there’s no shortage of fun for the whole family, as well.

Between the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Gardens Casino, various museums, and the nearby Knott’s Berry Farm, there’s no end to the entertainment.

What I find to be the most fun about Long Beach, however, is when it’s time to grab my favorite meal of the day: brunch.

In my opinion, nothing beats going out for a nice midday meal with friends or family.

There’s just something about eggs benedict, fried chicken and waffles, and even the occasional mimosa that sets brunch apart from all the other meals.

If you’re in the mood for brunch, but don’t know where to go in Long Beach, then you’re in for a treat.

Right down below, I’ve put together a guide ranking the absolute greatest brunch spots that you should visit around the city while you’re here.

The Attic

3441 E Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-433-0153
Visit Website

Taking the number-one spot on my list is The Attic. This place is absolutely fantastic for a delicious brunch meal to get your day started off right. Not only is the food tasty here, but the cocktails are refreshing and strong.

I usually start things off with an espresso martini to sip on while I peruse the menu.

For food, I find it hard to resist the Monte Cristo sandwich, but the fried chicken and waffles is a strong second.

Look for The Attic on the corner of East Broadway and Newport Avenue near the Belmont Heights neighborhood.

The Breakfast Bar

70 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
Phone: 562-726-1700
Visit Website

This next brunch spot, The Breakfast Bar, is located in the downtown area of Long Beach on Atlantic Avenue next to the Courtyard by Marriott Long Beach Downtown, right around the corner from the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.

What I love about The Breakfast Bar is that it’s casual and inviting so you’ll enjoy hanging out with a cup of fresh coffee.

I usually go for the French toast combo or the breakfast burrito when I come here, depending on whether I’m in the mood for a sweet or savory brunch dish, but it’s all delicious.

Claire’s at the Museum

2300 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-439-2119
Visit Website

Claire’s at the Museum is the next place I want to mention and you can find them off of East Ocean Boulevard near Bluff Park, overlooking Junipero Beach.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a better brunch spot with such an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean.

When you come to Claire’s at the Museum, I suggest trying the short rib benedict or the salmon BLT.

Those are two of my favorites, but the menu is full of other great choices. No matter what you do, be sure to ask about the seasonal dessert that they’re offering when you visit.

Saint & Second

4828 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-433-4828
Visit Website

The next place I’d like to point your attention towards is none other than Saint & Second.

This New American restaurant is located off of 2nd Street and St. Joseph Avenue near the Belmont Shore neighborhood.

I highly recommend visiting Saint & Second for brunch whenever you’re in the area because the food here is amazing and the atmosphere is even better.

What I usually get from Saint & Second is steak and eggs because that’s pretty much the breakfast of champions, in my opinion.

I also think the pancakes that they serve here are phenomenal if you like a sweeter option.

Nick’s on 2nd

4901 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-856-9000
Visit Website

Directly across the street from Saint & Second is Nick’s on 2nd. Nick’s is an American restaurant with some of the best brunch Long Beach has to offer, hands down.

What I love about Nick’s is that it’s very popular, so it’s always bustling and full of people if you’re looking to socialize at the bar.

The food is splendid as well. I enjoy the chilaquiles that they serve here because they make their tortilla chips in-house for extra freshness and flavor. Be sure to take a look at their cocktail menu as well for some unique drink concoctions.

Schooner Or Later

241 N Marina Dr, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-430-3495
Visit Website

Next up is a harborside restaurant called Schooner Or Later that you can find situated in the Alamitos Bay Marina Center in the same building as West Marine, right on the bank of the San Gabriel River.

When you come to Schooner Or Later, you’re in for a treat. Of course, the best thing to do is sit outside on their spacious patio so you can enjoy that famous California climate while you eat and drink.

I highly recommend the huevos rancheros from Schooner Or Later, but another great option is the lox and bagel.

Blackbird Cafe

3405 Orange Ave, Long Beach, CA 90807
Phone: 562-490-2473
Visit Website

This next place is called Blackbird Cafe Inc and you can find this gem on the corner of Orange Avenue and East Wardlow Road, just down the street from Reservoir Park.

I love eating at Blackbird Cafe for many reasons, but one of the primary ones is the cozy atmosphere and the delightful outdoor patio.

The menu is full of all the homestyle American breakfast foods you could ever want, not to mention all the drink specials to choose from.

No matter what you’re looking for, there’s bound to be something to satisfy you here at Blackbird Cafe.

Starling Diner

4114 E 3rd St, Long Beach, CA 90814
Phone: 562-433-2041
Visit Website

The Starling Diner is the next place that I think you should seek out for all your brunch needs.

This place has everything you could ever want when it comes to classic brunch foods.

This place is unique and stylish but it also has that classic diner feel that everyone knows and loves.

When I come to Starling Diner, I usually go for one of their daily egg scrambles or an order of the blue crab cake and eggs.

They have some very interesting combinations here, but you can find all the traditional breakfast foods as well.

Tantalum Restaurant

6272 Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-431-1414
Visit Website

Right inside the Marina Pacifica shopping mall where you’ll find other stores like Ralphs and Ulta Beauty is Tantalum Restaurant.

This place is a must-visit for anyone in the area, visitors and locals alike.

Tantalum Restaurant specializes in Asian fusion cuisine served in a gorgeous waterfront setting.

What better way to start your day than by gazing out onto the water and watching the boats come and go. The atmosphere is relaxing and it’ll make you want to stay all day long.

This is a great place to come for some delicious food and strong cocktails.

The Crooked Duck

5096 CA-1, Long Beach, CA 90804
Phone: 562-494-5118
Visit Website

Just up the road from the Long Beach Playhouse, on the corner of Grenada Avenue and the Pacific Coast Highway, is a restaurant called The Crooked Duck that I think you’re going to love when it comes to getting brunch in Long Beach.

The omelets here are second to none, in my opinion, and it’s what I usually find myself ordering for brunch whenever I have the pleasure of visiting The Crooked Duck.

Some other great options include the corned beef hash and eggs, the malted waffle, the avocado toast, and the chicken fried steak with eggs.

Let’s Yolk About It

4722 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803
Phone: 562-342-4241

Last, but not least, is Let’s Yolk About It, and they get extra points for the creative name.

When you’re looking for an amazing Long Beach brunch spot, this should be one of your go-to destinations.

What I love about Let’s Yolk About It is that they have everything from breakfast sandwiches to biscuits and gravy, and everything in between.

Not to mention, the selection of bubbles and beer will help turn your brunch into a fun, boozy midday meal.

Check out Let’s Yolk About It off of 2nd Street and Park Avenue the next time you’re craving a delicious brunch.
