15 Popular Brazilian Beers To Sip

What explorers once called the Land of Parrots, Brazil is known for many things. One of my favorite things about Brazil is the incredible beers that come from the lovely country.

If you’re like me, then you love trying new beer. One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to experience local culture through their local libation.

Let’s look at some of the great Brazilian beer options. Your mouth will be watering by the end; I can guarantee it!

Check out our favorite Brazilian beer brands to sip in Brazil or abroad!

Bohemia

Some believe that Bohemia is the very first Brazilian beer. If it’s not the first, it’s undoubtedly one of the best-tasting.

Bohemia is a bright gold pilsner with a bold flavor and a hoppy aftertaste. It’s an excellent beer for after dinner, especially if you need to cleanse your palette.

If you love a good IPA, then you’ll definitely like Bohemia.

Brahma

The Brahma beer brand dates back to the late 1880s.

You can find Brahma beer of all kinds, from pale lagers to porters and stouts.

So regardless of your preferred beer, you can find one from Brahma to match your taste.

I like Brahma because of the crisp taste. It’s always refreshing and perfect for the end of a long, hot day.

Itaipava

Itaipava is a delicious Brazilian beer that usually mimics an American lager in style and hops levels.

It’s light and crisp and highly refreshing.

If you visit Brazil in person, you won’t have difficulty getting your hands on Itaipava.

It’s a favorite among the locals, and nearly everyone sells it.

Antarctica

Despite the confusing name, Antarctica is not a beer from the southernmost continent in the world.

No, Antarctica beer comes from Brazil and is one of the best you can find.

Antarctica is delicious for its light and crisp flavor. It’s a traditional American lager style, bringing a delightful aroma that’s always fresh because of the high carbonation.

Sudbrack Blumenau Eisenbahn Dunkel

Dunkel is a Munich-style dark beer that hails from Germany.

It’s a dark lager that’s full of flavor and one of the smoothest lagers you’ll ever try.

Definitely take advantage of any opportunity to try one of these dunkels, brewed in Santa Catarina in southern Brazil.

Bierland

Bierland beer in Brazil makes everything from pilsners and saisons to stouts and Vienna-style brews.

You have to check out Bierland if you ever get down to Brazil.

My favorite Bierland brew is the Vienna lager. It’s smooth and flavorful, with almost no bite or sourness, and it goes down easy with any meal.

Bohemia Weiss

We’ve already talked about Bohemia beer, so let’s take a moment and zoom in on one of their high-quality options: the Bohemia Weiss.

Weiss is a wheat beer that’s not too heavy or light. It sits right in the middle with a great flavor and a crisp, refreshing palette.

It’s a traditional Brazilian favorite, so it’s hard to go wrong with one of these brews.

Caracu Cerveja Escura

If you’re like me, you enjoy a good stout or dark beer all year long.

But because of how breweries work, they usually don’t bring out the good stuff until the weather gets colder.

That’s why I love this beer. It’s dark, intense, and has so much body and flavor that it’s almost too much to imagine.

If you like a good stout, you’ll love this beer!

Cervejaria Invicta

We’re taking a sharp left turn away from stouts to talk about Cervejaria Invicta, an IPA with all the defining features you would expect from a potent Indian pale ale.

If you like IPAs, you’ll love kicking back with one of these beers. It’s light, it’s crisp, and it’s hoppy.

It’s also a great treat after a heavy Brazilian meal because it’s not too heavy.

Colorado Indica

Let’s take a moment to talk about this English-style IPA that’s brewed in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

It has a beautiful orange color when poured into your glass and a foamy head that seems to last for days.

I’m not a huge fan of IPAs, but I love Colorado Indica. It has excellent flavor and refreshing quality.

I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you don’t prefer IPAs.

DaDo Bier Lager

You don’t have to go to Brazil to try DaDo Bier Lager. It’s made in the United States now, although original production began in Porto Alegre.

I love this lager because you can almost taste the German influence.

It’s uniquely Brazilian, much different from a traditional Mexican lager, and has an excellent refreshing quality.

Kaiser Gold

Kaiser Gold is an American-style lager produced in Brazil.

It’s known for a few uniquely defining characteristics, such as the white foamy head that lasts for ages.

Kaiser Gold lives up to its name with its crisp flavor, balanced body, and fully accessible profile.

No matter what kind of beer you like, I highly recommend checking out Kaiser Gold.

Paulistânia

Hailing from the shores of Sao Paulo, Paulistânia produces a wide variety of beers that you can enjoy in any season.

I loved their lager, especially as a mid-afternoon treat before dinner. Paulistânia is a great beer that pairs with any occasion.

Petra

Petra is a great Brazilian beer, not to be confused with the archaeological site in Jordan.

The beer is Schwarzbier-style, which makes it extra dark and creamy.

Dark beers tend to have more malty flavors and an almost chewy texture.

One of the things I love about Petra beer is the smooth, rich, balanced flavor that lasts for days.

Wäls Petroleum

The final beer on our list is a delicious imperial stout, meaning the boldness of the flavor and the intensity of the malt is overpowering – in a good way.

Cervejaria Wäls is the Brazilian brewing company that makes the delicious Petroleum stout.

I especially love the oatmeal-forward flavor of Petroleum.
