The most famous Thai dish is Pad Thai, a flat noodle fry with veggies, meat, and a citrusy-peanut sauce.

Any of the restaurants on this list make an excellent Pad Thai – and more. If you are ready to venture on to new dishes you haven’t tried yet, you have come to the right place.

As a lover of spice and Southeast Asian cuisine, diving into these restaurants was a dream for me. If you are also a lover of Thai food, check out my list of the best Thai restaurants in Cleveland below!

Situated between Wakefield and The Flats, Banana Blossom Thai has an extensive menu that can fit every Thai food-lovers preferences.

Swing through for lunch or dinner after checking out the nearby Greater Cleveland Aquarium! You can dine in and make a reservation online, or order online for takeout.

If you are battling lake-effect snow, I recommend their soup section. Offering traditional Thai soups like Tom Yum and Coconut Soup, you can warm up on a cold day with zingy broth.

I in particular enjoyed their Hot Duck meal. Served with white rice and sauteed in red curry, I felt like I was in the heart of Bangkok while eating this dish.

The Zagat Guide named Ty Fun Thai Bistro as one of the top ten restaurants in Cleveland. Chef Sunny Ting from Bangkok owns and manages this award-winning restaurant, open since 2006.

Just a short walk away from Lincoln Park and between I-71 and I-490, Ty Fun is easy to get to and surrounded by other fun bars and cafes to try.

To start, I enjoyed their spicy edamame, which comes with deep-fried tofu, cabbage, carrot, and a sweet chili garlic sauce.

The highlight of the evening was their Salmon Talay, which featured a tender salmon cooked in a ginger sauce.

If you stay away from fish, I recommend their Ped Grob, which pairs duck with a Tamarind Sauce.

At the helm of Map of Thailand are experienced chefs who have worked in fine dining for over 10 years.

Located in the heart of Asiatown and not far from the lake, Map of Thailand accommodates most special requests and dietary concerns with enough advanced notice.

Map of Thailand is a comfortable, family-style restaurant with an expansive, accessible menu. I ate the Mango Fried Rice, which was to die for.

Fresh mango accompanies egg and a variety of vegetables on top of a bed of fried rice. I also tried the Massaman Curry, which was gentle and slightly sweet.

Either is perfect for folks who enjoy the flavors of Thai food but are not so sure about the spice.

Siam Cafe

Siam Cafe is just outside of downtown Cleveland, in the Goodrich-Kirtland Park neighborhood. An informal, homey spot close to Asiatown, Siam Cafe offers high-quality Asian fusion cuisine.

Focusing on offering a broad array of flavors, Siam Cafe’s menu includes Thai staples like Massaman Curry while also offering neighboring country cuisine, like Vietnamese pho or Kung Po chicken.

I stuck with Thai and ordered the String Bean with Sliced Taro, which I highly recommend for folks who enjoy a slightly sweeter taste in their entree.

I also enjoyed their Siam Wings as an appetizer. No matter what you order, or if you grab take-out or dine-in, you will delight in a sumptuous feast at Siam Cafe.

Thai Elephant Restaurant

Thai Elephant Restaurant brought me south of the lake, in between Jefferson and Kamms Corner near the Valley Parkway.

Offering a family feel, Thai Elephant is an intimate restaurant with colorful entrees that dazzled my tastebuds. The cozy dining room is the perfect place for a date or a relaxed evening out with friends.

The winner of my meal was the Khung Pad Cha or the Shrimp Red Chili. Though the shrimp was the star of the show, it joined stir-fried onions, bell peppers, carrots, mushrooms, and cabbages on a bed of white rice.

You will not go wrong with that dish, or by pairing it with the Tom Kha Noodle Soup. I was delighted by the veggie-packed coconut broth.

Thai Kitchen Restaurant

12210 Madison Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107

Romantic and unassuming, Thai Kitchen is in a white brick building in Lakewood covered in English Ivy.

Their food, however, packs a big punch. Serving truly authentic Thai food, Thai Kitchen Restaurant is a feast for all senses.

For an appetizer, I recommend the Chicken Satay. Perfect for when you are feeling a bit peckish, the Chicken Satay is tender, juicy meat on a skewer with a peanut dipping sauce.

I reveled in a meat-heavy meal and moved on to the Khao Moo Daeng or the Thai BBQ pork. The biggest takeaway from Thai Kitchen Restaurant was their commitment to authenticity, which made for a pleasurable dining experience.

Thai Thai

Thai Thai is a hip, award-winning Thai restaurant in Lakewood, serving Bangkok street food. Thai Thai won a “Best of Cleveland Thai food” award from Scene Cleveland from 2018 to 2021 and received a “Silver Spoon” award from Cleveland Magazine.

Their most popular dish is Kra Praow, which of course I had to taste. Kra Praow combines rice, your choice of meat (I selected the chicken), fresh basil, fresh chili and garlic, and a fried egg.

Savory and textured, this rice dish was by far my favorite. I topped it off with a honeydew bubble tea to cool the spice.

Final Thoughts

Thai food is known for its distinct flavors that balance the citrus, spice, and sweet together. The best Thai restaurants in Cleveland have authentic, world-class menus, offering everything from street food to fine dining.

Most of the restaurants on this list are on the North East side of the city, close to historic Asiatown and the ever-famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

No matter where you end up, however, you can feast on everything from Pad Thai to hot curries to nourishing soups. If Italian is more your thing, be sure you stop by these amazing restaurants as well!
