Oklahoma City is in the center of Oklahoma, where the convergence of multiple interstates creates a robust metropolis. It’s in the heart of cowboy country and is home to nearly 670,000 people. Also, OKC was named as one of Travel + Leisure’s top 50 places to travel.

From City Center to Midtown to Stockyards City, every neighborhood adds spice to the city – and that especially appears in the form of diverse restaurants. Indeed, every corner of the city is home to a creative and delicious sushi spot.

With many residents and visitors, many have been wondering where to get sushi in Oklahoma City. The restaurant scene in Oklahoma City has expanded over the last few years, so it is pretty easy to find great Oklahoma City sushi, and these spots are fantastic!

The Sushi Neko Robata and Sushi Bar is located near Uptown, Oklahoma City. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday and has been serving sushi for more than fifteen years. OpenTable named Neko a Diner’s Choice in 2020. The Mermaid Roll and the Oklahoma Dynamite are excellent! 

My favorite appetizer is the Shishito Peppers, which are wok flashed and served with Asian sausage and tossed in our Gochujang sauce. I also enjoyed the spicy miso soup. The spicy tuna roll is a classic done well. I would also recommend the Hot Lips roll with tuna, salmon, cucumber, and chili sauce.


Volcano Sushi Bar & Hibachi

Volcano Sushi Bar & Hibachi is conveniently located in central Oklahoma City with multiple locations in the area. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. Volcano Sushi Bar & Hibachi offers a BOGO Tuesday special where visitors can buy one roll and get another for free.

The California Roll and the Alaska Roll are excellent options. Try the Rainbow Roll with tuna, red snapper, and salmon, or the Sakura Roll with scallops. The Godzilla Roll is a massive maki roll topped with avocado and tuna. The restaurant also offers noodles and hibachi for other meal options.

GoGo Sushi offers a casual and hip vibe for guests. Located in Midtown, the restaurant offers happy hour on weekdays between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The staff is friendly and attentive, and most guests who visit once agree that they’ll be back soon!

For an appetizer, order the Coconut Shrimp with sweet chili sauce. Chicken Fried Rice is great for a meal or a side dish. Still, the sushi is the best! Try the Ring of Fire with poke tuna, mango, and salmon or the Teddy, a fried roll with salmon. The menu also offers dozens of classic rolls like the salmon skin or Philly.

Near the North Highland community, Tokyo Japanese Restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers traditional Japanese-style cuisine in OKC. Tokyo also offers a wide selection of sake to pair with rolls and entrees. The restaurant offers a private dining room for small parties.

I enjoyed the Yellowtail Roll with yellowtail, green onion, and sesame seeds and the Cowboy Roll with eel, cucumber, and topped with salmon, hot mayo, and eel sauce. One of the most popular rolls is the deep-fried Golden roll with salmon, cream cheese, and asparagus and topped with hot mayo, eel sauce, and smelt roe.

Roll & Rock Sushi Station is the perfect place for catching up with a friend or enjoying a sushi dinner on a date night. With a casual setting between Lakeview and Rollingwood, the restaurant serves up good vibes and sushi. It is open Monday through Saturday between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.

The Spicy Cajun Roll is fantastic; it is spicy mayo, green onion, and crawfish! I also enjoyed the Sassy Shrimp Roll with avocado, cucumber, crabstick, tempura shrimp, and spicy mayo. The Dragon Roll, Butterfly Roll, and Thunder Roll are popular specialty maki rolls.


The Sushi Bar

Located in Northwest Oklahoma City, The Sushi Bar, is a fun and casual sushi restaurant. The restaurant is comfortable with a warm wood interior, and the modern white plates used to serve sushi add a contemporary flair to the food. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily.

The specialty rolls at The Sushi Bar are terrific; specifically, try the Ana Maria, Bassonator, or Pandora’s Box. The restaurant also offers various gluten-free sushi rolls. My favorite bite was the Wackymaki Roll with smoked salmon, jalapenos, and avocado tempura and topped with sweet sauce and scallions.

Between the Beacon Hill and Nova communities, Tokyo Moon OKC serves pho and sushi. The restaurant is open between Tuesday and Sunday, with shortened hours on Sunday. Tokyo Moon serves traditional Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant regularly posts on social media, so follow Tokyo Moon on Instagram for updates. Tokyo Moon is a fun restaurant to visit in OKC!

Try the Steamed Buns with grilled pork, cucumber, and vegetables, and the Miso Soup is only $2! The sushi rolls are delicious; try the Hot Lips Roll with spicy tuna, salmon, avocado, and spicy sauce. The Lobster Roll was also incredible with tempura lobster, avocado, lemon, garlic mayo, masago, and scallion.

Opened in May of 2019 near Penn Park, mizu ramen sushi serves both ramen and sushi. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. Recently, the restaurant started serving poke bowls. The restaurant serves signature, deluxe, classic, and new-style sashimi.

The Lobster Bomb Roll is tempura fried with baked lobster, eel sauce, wasabi mayo, spicy mayo, and green onion. The Zen Roll and the Avocado Roll are great classic options. The Crazy Cowboy Roll with crab salad, spicy mayo, and tempura flakes is popular. Also, don’t skip the ramen – I enjoyed the Mazemen ramen; it is brothless and has fried garlic.


Musashi’s Japanese Steakhouse

Musashi’s Japanese Steakhouse serves not only well-cooked steaks but also refined sushi rolls and sashimi. The hibachi table is fun for a family outing or special date night. The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday through Sunday in Uptown, Oklahoma City. The steakhouse offers patio dining, which guests can take advantage of on temperate days.

The East LA Roll is unique and holds tempura bacon, shrimp, red pepper, jalapeno, and sesame seeds. Try the Sweet Temptation Roll with jalapeno, cream cheese, shrimp, and ponzu sauce. The Spicy Smoked Salmon Roll is also delicious! The restaurant also serves nigiri and sashimi – the yellowtail is nice.

Yuzo Sushi Tapas is open daily for lunch and dinner near the outskirts of the Arts District. Guests can also make a reservation on the website. The restaurant offers daily specials. On Monday, guests can order $4 gyoza, and on Fridays, $10 poke bowls!

I started my meal with the Blue Crab Popper, a jalapeno stuffed with blue crab and cheese and served with a cajun cream dip. The Salmon Ceviche is fresh salmon, mango salsa, house picante, chili oil, and lime juice. The Bombshell Roll with fried shrimp, cilantro, avocado, tuna, strawberry, chili aurora, and kiwi glaze and the Wasabi Crusted Salmon roll with salmon, cream cheese, and wasabi cream and great specialty rolls!

Inaka Sushi & Bar serves traditional foods in a casual and contemporary setting near Casady School in The Village. The restaurant is excellent for everyone. Whether you go with your friends or your kids, this is the place to enjoy superb sushi. Inaka offers a full bar, including wine, draft beer, and sake. Plus, the menu has various gluten-free options.

My favorite roll is the Fire Dragon with shrimp tempura, cream cheese, cucumber, and topped with seared spicy tuna and eel sauce. The Tuna Tataki is a refreshing bite with seared tuna and ponzu sauce. The Fire Island Roll is a chef’s specialty and includes spicy tuna, spicy salmon, snow crab, jalapeño, and chili sauce.
