RYU has undergone extensive renovation, giving it a trendy look in a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. They also deliver and offer curbside pick-up. Let’s get to the food; almost every sushi roll receives high marks, and the service is easily on par with the exceptional food. On that note, the Shrimp Tempura was particularly memorable, characterized by a depth of flavor, and the Spring Rolls were also crispy and fresh. Next time you’re in Memphis, RYU sushi & pho is a must!

Sekisui Midtown has a reputation for being one of the best Sushi restaurants around, and maybe that’s why you find it in multiple locations throughout Memphis! Sekisui is an upscale restaurant with classy decor and an inviting atmosphere. Sekisui is a great place that’s ripe for celebrating special occasions of any sort. Locals say the seafood is always fresh and doesn’t have that fishy taste. That’s a good sign! If you’re someone who likes to sample a bit of everything, try the eclectic Sushi Deluxe. Furthermore, don’t forget to try the decadent Miso Soup along with the Spicy Crab Roll. Sekisui gladly fills takeout orders and has a delivery service also.

Located not too far from the Memphis Commons Shopping Mall is the fun and festive Rock n Roll Sushi Wolfchase. Whether you love Sushi, Rock and Roll, or both, this is an exciting place to be. Apart from the exciting atmosphere and beautiful decor, this restaurant serves specialty dishes, famous bands, and people! The service is excellent, and the waiters are always waiting and ready to offer suggestions to newcomers. I was intrigued by the “Michael Jackson” roll, and frequent guests had mentioned that it was one of the best at the restaurant. Moreover, the “Red Hot Chili Peppers” roll was exquisite. I am sure that you can try either of these bites the next time you’re in Memphis, and you won’t be disappointed. This location also offers takeout services.

Sakura is an outstanding Japanese restaurant in Downtown Memphis. At Sakura, they do sushi the right way. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful, and they give you a lot of choices. The atmosphere is conducive for both celebrations or very good for a relaxing evening with a date or family and friends. The waitress was kind enough to recommend the Tempura and Nagiri platter. Both were a hit with my friends and family. If you’re ever in Memphis, you have to stop by Sakura and try the Spicy Tuna Roll with fresh avocado or the Mardi Gras roll. Feel free to order takeout or get your food delivered if you don’t feel like going out.

The Red Koi Japanese Cuisine Restaurant is in the Ridgeway Trace Center. Locals say that the Red Koi is one of the best sushi restaurants in Memphis. They create innovative rolls and other Japanese specialties like Udon Noodles as well. The bar is spacious, and the dining area is colorful with contemporary designs. The atmosphere in the Red Koi is jovial, which makes for a pleasant experience when paired with the friendly and attentive servers. There are daily Hibachi and Sushi specials, and they have takeout options as well. My favorite dishes are the plump Shrimp Tempura Appetizer, the flavorful Teriyaki Shrimp Scallop dinner, and the fresh and delicious Memphis Roll. I highly recommend you stop by The Red Koi if you’re in the area.

Tokyo Grill

The Tokyo Grill has multiple locations sprinkled throughout the city. This Memphis restaurant has casual vibes in an inviting space. The menu is diverse, and the staff is very friendly and engaging. The fare at the Tokyo Grill is authentic Japanese, and everything is always fresh. They also have a nice sushi bar for guests. Reviews mention the Miso Soup, Hibachi Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, and the Sushi Appetizer as the best dishes on the menu. If you want excellent Memphis sushi in huge portion sizes, Tokyo Grill is definitely the place to go. All locations also offer takeout. 


South Main Sushi

You can find South Main Sushi in Downtown Memphis, near the corner of South Main Street and GE Patterson Ave. The atmosphere here is cozy, and the decor is chic with exposed brick walls. They also offer outdoor seating on their patio. The facility is also clean, and the servers are professional and courteous. At Tokyo Grill, they also feature sushi rolls created by customers, which is a cool touch. The most popular menu items are the Hibachi Shrimps, the Lobster Feast, the California Roll, and my personal favorite, the Tempura Ice Cream. And they seriously have the best Sake I’ve had on my trip to Memphis. If you’re in the area you’re in for a treat at the Tokyo Grill. They also offer takeaway and delivery services. 


Saito Restaurant

Located inside the Stage Center, Saito Restaurant is a low-key Japanese steakhouse with a sushi bar and several hibachi grills. It’s a family-friendly establishment with a great atmosphere that lets you unwind and enjoy fresh and well-seasoned eats. The decor is clean and simple, and they offer takeout, dine-in, and hibachi tables. You can also sit at the bar. The staff is friendly and always willing to make recommendations if you’re not sure what to get. I was impressed with the deep flavors and portion sizes at Saito. I ordered the Cheese Wontons, Shrimp Fried Rice, Eggs Drops Soup, and the Double Decker Roll. Everything was cooked perfectly, and you’re missing out if you don’t give them a shot!

Sumo Japanese Sushi
