I enjoyed the Banzai specialty roll, a spicy shrimp roll with tuna and crunchy mix. I would also recommend the signature Monkey roll, a Shrimp tempura roll topped with avocado, and a sweet chili house sauce. Aside from sushi, the kitchen prepares delicious entrees like the Flounder Butter Yaki, lightly broiled and served with ginger scallion and butter sauce.

Sushi Gallery is family-owned, and the interior decor is in the traditional Japanese style. The restaurant is open between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. Sushi Gallery is located inside Han’s Market. The restaurant has been open in Brooklyn Heights for more than fifteen years.

I had dumpling soup and a Tropicana roll with spicy salmon and avocado when I visited. I would recommend trying a few items off the specialty sushi menu like the Dancing Shrimp roll, the Peacock roll, and the Sunshine roll. Sushi Gallery also offers various sashimi and vegetarian options. Stop by for take-out or delivery as well!

I recommend trying one of the bento boxes, also available as a vegetarian option. The bento includes soup, seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, and a California roll. I enjoyed the Brooklyn roll with salmon, tuna, and mango. The Thai Red Snapper entree is also a great option if you are not in the mood for sushi. Saketumi offers a little bit of something for everyone.

Mitoushi Sushi offers a casual vibe with tasty sushi options. The restaurant is along the B61 and B63 bus routes, near Court Street. The busiest time for the restaurant is for dinner service around 7:00 pm, but it is open until 10:00 pm nightly to accommodate everyone.

The Beef Negimaki Combo Box is a popular menu item served with miso soup. The restaurant usually offers specialty rolls depending on the season. I enjoyed the Miso Black Cod and the crab cake appetizer. I would also recommend the salmon belly carpaccio.

Hibino is situated in an unassuming building, but serves delicious sushi and Japanese cuisine. The restaurant even makes its own tofu. Seating is limited, which creates an intimate space for dinners or birthday parties. The restaurant is exceptionally kid-friendly as well. Dishes are available for dine-in, takeaway, or delivery.

When I visited Hibino, I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken and some of the classic rolls, like the spicy tuna roll. I would also recommend Tuna Hako Sushi roll and the Tekka Don. The restaurant has specific menus for lunch and dinner with some additional options in the evening.


KI SUSHI

Ki Sushi is open at the border of Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights. It is near the Invisible Dog Arts Center, a museum and arts center. The exterior is contemporary with classy graphics and a pale tan exterior that creates a warm and welcoming vibe. The interior design is minimalist, which allows space for the creative sushi to shine of the plate. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

When I visited Ki Sushi, I enjoyed the omakase menu. Omakase is a chef’s selection where truly inspired rolls and sashimi are served, and it varies by day. The Grilled Miso Scottish Salmon is a delicious entree, and the teriyaki chicken is a great option! Make plans to spend an incredible evening at Ki Sushi.

The Mediterranean Sea Bass is a delicious entree. Don’t skip the Sticky Date Cake for dessert. Many options on the menu are vegetarian-friendly. The intimate setting at the bar or at the two-top tables running adjacent to the bar creates a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a first date. The craft cocktails and sparkling rose are delicious.

Boutros is located near the New York Transit Museum and is an excellent place to dine after an exhibit-filled day. The restaurant is closed on Monday and offers dinner service from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The entrance to the restaurant is painted a lovely navy blue, setting the tone for a contemporary and delicious meal.

I enjoyed the roasted endive and the roasted beet hummus. I enjoyed the Whole Black Sea Bass. The restaurant aims to fuse Middle-Eastern cuisines with New American dishes, which the Miso Babagounsh perfectly demonstrates. The Wines by the Glass list is extensive, and I enjoyed the Pinot Noir.

Kogane is by the Clark Street metro in the middle of Brooklyn Heights. The restaurant offers outdoor seating, and the interior’s vibe is cozy with warm wood walls. The restaurant is open daily, beginning at noon. The kitchen at the back of the space creates a hum of activity and energizes the entire space.

I enjoyed the Miso Lobster Ramen and the Kimchi Fried Rice with bacon. The Black Sesame Tuna with wasabi sauce is fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed the charred sashimi peppers. The sake menu is extensive, and I enjoyed the Yuzu sake with my meal.

Osake offers guests outdoor seating in a private garden. It borders Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights. Osake is open for lunch and dinner daily. The exposed brick walls set a welcoming vibe. Seating at the sushi bar allows you to see the sushi chefs at work, creating a unique experience. Osake is an excellent place for a date night or to catch up with a friend.

I enjoyed the Spicy Miso Mussel Soup. The Yellowtail Jalapeno with yuzu sauce is delicious. I would also recommend ordering the King Crab Avocado roll, the Eel Cucumber roll, and the Black Pepper Tuna roll. Don’t forget to try the signature, Elvis Roll, with deep-fried soft shell crab, asparagus, eel, and caviar rolled in cucumber skin!


Brooklyn Heights is a peaceful neighborhood with young professionals and new families settling into classic Brownstones. The dining scene has shifted to fit this new and growing population, and eateries serving sushi and sashimi dishes are among the most popular in the neighborhood. Japanese and Thai cuisine is associated with eateries, so trying curry or creative ramen is a great option!
