That said, if you’re like me, you’ll want to try the best steakhouses in town. That’s what this list is all about! The steakhouses on my list represent the crème de la crème of steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri. These steakhouses managed to outperform all of the other ones I have tried, which is why I am proud to share them with you now. Check out my list of the best steak in St Louis below!

Annie Gunn’s

The first steakhouse on our list is Annie Gunn’s! Their Annual Cigar Smoker Dinner is one of the many reasons why I love this particular steakhouse. Premium cigars are presented and enjoyed coupled with fine wines and some of the most terrific food I have ever tasted. Look for Annie Gunn’s right on Chesterfield Airport Road, right across the street from the Chesterfield Outlets shopping mall and Topgolf. Perfect for a delicious steak dinner in St Louis. For those of you that like surf n turf, you’ll love Annie Gunn’s Shore Dinner. It’s fried to a crispy perfection like no other.

801 Chophouse

The next one on my list is the 801 Chophouse. This steakhouse is located near the Clayton Business District, which makes it a top destination. With an award-winning wine list and some of the finest USDA prime steak in town, 801 Chophouse should be on every steak lover’s list of top destinations. If you have ever wanted to feel like you’re eating in a high-end steakhouse in 1920s New York, you have two options: you can go to New York, or you can come down to St. Louis, Missouri, and try out the 801 Chophouse! The filet mignon is superb as is the 36 oz. Porterhouse.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Next up on my list of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri, is Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. I had the good fortune to show up on Tomahawk Tuesday and enjoyed a most delicious and succulent Tomahawk steak. The Prime Tomahawk steak wasn’t the only thing that tasted delicious, the Creme Brulee was exceptional! If you love good bourbon and great cocktails, you’ll also want one of their expertly made Old Fashioneds’ to sip on during your meal. This cocktail is crafted with Basil Hayden’s bourbon and is graced with the sweet citrusy aroma of orange peel and toasted vanilla. When I left Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, I left full, and I left satisfied.

Carmine’s Steak House

Carmine’s Steak House is another great place to eat when you’re in St. Louis. I’m so glad I tried it out! So what’s so great about this place? For starters, this steakhouse has been rocking since 1934, which means there’s a lot of history here. The atmosphere is refined yet laid back, and the food is phenomenal! If you want a steak that tastes like heaven, come on down to Carmine’s Steak House. The Lombardo family has seen to it that each and every dish that passes from kitchen to table is world-class in terms of quality. One thing I noticed about Carmine’s Steak House is that when you come down for a meal, you’re treated with respect which is another thing that I love about the place.

Kreis Restaurant

Kreis Restaurant is arguably one of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, if not the absolute best! When it comes to steakhouses, this place is the tops. This locally owned, family-run steak restaurant has some serious talent in the kitchen. The filet mignon here is off the charts, and when you try their New York Strip, you’ll never feel like you have to go all of the way to New York City for a great steak ever again. If you are feeling a little more adventurous, however, you can’t go wrong with the Tenderloin Medallions Oscar; it tastes fantastic!

Tucker’s Place

As soon as I walked into Tucker’s Place, I knew I had found something special. You can find a wide variety of exquisite meals here, and the ambiance makes it all the more charming. It’s cozy, comfortable, and it won me over as soon as I heard that all of their steaks come from English-bred cattle in Omaha. The 20-ounce Porterhouse is incredible and cooked to perfection. That said, I also enjoyed their 16 oz. bone-in-ribeye. The service was admirable and just thinking about the food makes me hungry all over again. Tucker’s Place has definitely earned its place on my list of the best places to get steak in St. Louis, Missouri.

Citizen Kane’s Steak House

When it comes to where to get steak in St. Louis, Missouri, you have to give Citizen Kane’s Steak House a try. I did, and I loved it! Who knew that one of the best steakhouses in St. Louis was in a Victorian-styled home turned restaurant? This family-owned establishment even has its own steak seasoning, one that I would highly recommend! While everything I ate there was good, the one entree that stood out to me was their Ribeye Delmonico. If you’re in St. Louis, and you’re looking for a steak that will make your mouth water, pull up to Citizen Kane’s Steak House off of West Clinton Place, just north of The Magic House St. Louis Children’s Museum.

The Capital Grille

101 S Hanley Rd Suite 250, Clayton, MO 63105
Phone: 314-725-0930
Visit Website

The Capital Grille is a unique restaurant with a fabulous menu. The Dry Aged KC Strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream is hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Everyone needs to try it at least once, preferably dozens of times! While the food was fantastic, I also very much enjoyed the wine. The Capital Grille has a top-notch wine list with a wide selection to choose from. The Yealands, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, NZ, was particularly enjoyable. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, I would highly recommend the Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, which was delicious to the very last drop.

Here’s another splendid destination for anyone that loves surf and turf! J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks and Seafood is one of the best steakhouses in St. Louis. It’s also one of the best places to enjoy high-quality seafood dishes. As far as the seafood goes, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the Oyster’s Rockefeller and Maple Plank Roasted Salmon. Another reason to love this place is the fact that they celebrate Bourbon Month. As a steak lover, you know that a great steak always pairs well with good bourbon. Take my advice and try the center-cut filets with a glass of Jim Beam. You won’t be disappointed!

The Block

Number 10 on our list of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri, would be The Block. This place is a meat lover’s dream come true. It has everything! The sirloin sandwich was nothing less than amazing. The sandwich comes with sliced sirloin steak, provolone, and pickled red onions, horseradish cream on a brioche bun. If you make the trip out to St. Louis, you need to try the Butcher’s Cut. An in-house butcher’s cut that’s cooked by a master and served with The Block’s very own steak sauce. Folks, it just doesn’t get any better than that. You’ve got to try it!

Surf & Sirloin

13090 Manchester Rd, Des Peres, MO 63131

Surf & Sirloin is exactly what it sounds like, a great place to enjoy some good old-fashioned surf and turf! On the surf side, you’ll want to try the Scottish Salmon Dijon. I did, and it was delicious! Hungry for a nice juicy steak instead? Then I’d recommend the Pepperloin over brandy mustard sauce. I didn’t want to stop eating it and had to grab another one before I left St. Louis. Among their incredible house-made steak sauces, you can also choose to get their Mushroom Bordelaise or Bearnaise Sauce. All three sauces are honestly fantastic, so try them all and pick a favorite!

When you’re looking for a fabulous steakhouse experience, you’ll want to try Al’s Restaurant. Don’t let the simple-sounding name fool you. This place has class, and it has it in spades! Al’s Restaurant is the epitome of fine dining in St. Louis and they have many different steak options. I had the Beef Romano – Al’s Signature Dish. This exquisitely made filet mignon was butterflied and stuffed with prosciutto and romano cheese. This was one of the best dining experiences in my life, as was the filet mignon with ½ lobster tail I ate the next day! Places like this are hard to find these days, do yourself a favor and make a trip!

Ruth’s Chris Steak House has one of the richest varieties of food to choose from that I encountered during my stay in St. Louis. The hospitality of the staff is exemplary, and the chefs are truly inspired. The petite filet with shrimp was my absolute favorite meal here. You get two perfectly cooked 4 oz. Medallions with six large juicy shrimp. If you have room for it, you’ll also want to try the 22 oz. Cowboy Ribeye, a prime cut that is out of this world! I admit I was hesitant to put this one on the list because I almost wanted to keep it to myself. This place is one of the best-kept secrets in St. Louis, but the food is so good, I just had to share it.

Sam’s Steakhouse

Sam’s Steakhouse is one of the finest St Louis steak restaurants that I encountered in my travels throughout this exciting and flavorful city. As soon as I drove up to the place I had a feeling that I was in for a treat, and was I ever! Starting off with Lobster Bisque with Lobster Tempura was the perfect beginning to a long and enjoyable meal. I finished up with their Center-Cut Filet Mignon. For dessert, I tried the Caramel Bread Pudding and would say that it was one of the best-tasting desserts I’ve had the pleasure of sampling in many years.

LongHorn Steakhouse

This place has the name and the food to make it one of the best St Louis steak restaurants I found in my travels. Their steaks are legendary, and for good reason, they were all cooked exactly how I wanted them and were jam-packed with flavor. The Outlaw Ribeye and Renegade Sirloin were among my top favorites. That said, the Chop Steak blew me away. I had no idea what I was missing until I finally tried it! Of course, you can get some excellent surf with your turf here as well. If that’s what you’re into, then try Flo’s Filet and Lobster Tail. They’re located inside The Plaza & Shoppes shopping center, just south of Kirkland Commons on South Lindbergh Boulevard.

Hamilton’s Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar is a special place. They really appreciate the connection between bourbon and steakhouses. You’ll find no shortage of fine bourbons here, and the steaks are very flavorful. With excellent bourbons like Old Forester Signature and Bowman Brothers Small Batch, there’s something for everyone here. Of course, you could always have an ice-cold beer or a glass of wine instead. The Kansas City Strip is a great value for the price. Nothing compares to the incredible flavor of this spectacular meal. The ribeye at Hamilton’s Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar was also good here. Try it for yourself!

Twisted Tree Steakhouse

Last but not least on my list of the best steakhouses in St. Louis, Missouri, is the Twisted Tree Steakhouse. Meet casual dining with a fancy twist, that’s the Twisted Tree Steakhouse in a nutshell, and I love it! The toasted brisket ravioli was better than I ever could have expected, as was the twisted shrimp and the NY Strip. When I came back for more, I had the Hog Chop, a 14 oz. piece of heaven cooked in a maple syrup reduction. The sauerkraut paired with it beautifully. This place is definitely one of the best steakhouses in the city.
